Babylon Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Our chairman is not our owner. Perhaps you should be pointing that out to your own fan who i was quoting, because he doesn't seem to know that.
Maybes Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Joe and Liam have both indicated this aint happening. Don't know who, but several other people have said he's as good as agreed a contract with BCFC. I appreciate it's hard to take but all the signs are saying he wants to stay there/go up a league. In fact at no point has there ever been any suggestion he wants to come here. For a few weeks it was 'wait 'till he returns from holiday'. Well he has and nothing has happened. I'd love this to happen but a few of us are starting to get a little overly confident with regards to player recruitment. Fingers crossed i'm eating my words in a weeks time, but I aint holding my breath. I wasn't specifically referring to you in the OP. x Bit like Marlon King with Coventry then

Guest Bilo Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I do get the impression that a lot of these discussions are redundant until an offer goes in. If he hasn't signed a contract by that time, said offer could turn Maynard's head. If he absolutely unequivocally wants to stay at Ashton Gate, where is the new contract announcement? Somebody, either Maynard or his agent, is stalling for a better offer in my humble opinion.
wellyfox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 He's actually only a millionare but he's richer than I'll ever be haha. Yes I know this but I can only see it being to a Premier league club as we have a high asking price. We've been amongst the top spenders in the division over the last four years. Ok? I'm not fussed to be honest. LMFAOOOO HE WILL SELL TO US. he has gone from billionaire to only a millionaire in about 15 posts. You know untill last week i liked you guys. But so much shite. And if he is only a millionaire he will sell to anyone once the price is met. Prem Championship Even div 1 or 2

sdb Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 No offence sdb, but that is all conjecture. Not one fact in any of it. Nobody's got any facts but all the people in the know suggest he aint coming here. I admire peoples confidence on this, but there's not been even a hint of him being interested. If he were i'm sure we'd have heard at least something.
escos Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Can somebody please tell me why he is worth anywhere near £5m
Joe. Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 He has only verbally agreed his contract, so it's not exactly cast in stone. But it still makes this unlikely.
Babylon Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 So where's the transfer request?! Where is his statement saying he's staying? Transfer requests are a last resort for players as they lose their loyalty bonus and other bits. Their Chairman has already said if he says he won't sign then they would have to look at the situation before the window closes. He's in his last year, completely different if he had two years to go. Joe and Liam know about as much as you or I about transfers!! I'm not saying he's going to sign, I've already said I don't think he will. But the Bristol fans saying they won't sell to teams in this league and valuing him at ridiculous amounts need a reality check.
RedHux Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 signs new contract scores 10+ goals next season Bristol sell to a Prem Club for good money Yes, cos that's what happens when you bag 10+ goals in a championship season. The thing is, with the best will in the world Brizzle are, a bit shit, and Maynard's their biggest threat meaning teams can take very specific steps to stop him. Whereas if he moves to a promotion chasing team (no names mentioned ) he's just one member in a team of potential threats which is surely a better place to showcase his undoubted talents from. This desire to sit on a Prems team bench is also a bit daft, cos that's what'll happen if he ends up at one of the middling teams in the prem. IMHO he needs to find the best place to show what he can do if he wants a top flight career and I'm afraid being Brizzles lone decent player is not that place.

Happy Fox Posted 5 July 2011 Author Posted 5 July 2011 He has only verbally agreed his contract, so it's not exactly cast in stone. But it still makes this unlikely. Just like Marlon king with coventry and we all know how that turned out, he comes here.

Joe. did say a couple of pages back that his agent was holding out for more, but if maynard is as desperate to stay at brizzle as has been suggested then would he not have taken his agent aside and told him/her to lower their demands or alternatively just fired them? there is a lot more to this than meets the eye and if sven is in quick enough with a second bid (before either NM's agent or BC back down over the contract demands) then it wouldn't suprise me in the slightest to see maynard in blue on the opening day of the season.
Guest Bilo Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I wish all guest posters were like you! RedHux was put on this earth to show that even Forest have some good 'uns among their support. Then some cruel bastard put a shedload of mouthbreathers in Bristol and Coventry.
RedHux Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I wish all guest posters were like you! Guest poster? I've got more posts then you! <<<<my own horn
Corky Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I wish all guest posters were like you! Apart from the Forest supporting
Mickey O'Neil Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Why would the billionaire tell us they want £5m+ for him if he's not for sale? To a Championship club. Just asking like. Not that we'll get him, but there you go. Nicky Maynard is valued at around £5m. I'd see if Everton would sell us Beckford for that. I don't know anything about Maynard except we're not getting him.
RedHux Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 In any case, after suffering through the humiliation that was last years Pratley and Whittingham debacle ( Mark Arthur coming out and saying both players wanted to come to Forest and will be here lickety split as they're contracts are running out) I'm fairly certain unless someone pays over the odds Maynard will stay where he is confident that because he's so great Man U will snap him up for free next year.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. Personally, I get fed up hearing Bristol fans talking about how their chairman is a 'Billionaire from Bristol and loves the club' etc etc. Do they ever think how he became a billionaire? He's a business man and made his money through making good business decisions. At the moment he has an asset that is declining in value as it's contract runs out. If he was offered enough then it would be the best business decision to accept and sell. now I'm not saying we will be the ones to make that offer, or that we should. Just that that's what will happen if someone does make that offer.
STUHILL Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Think we all need to stop a minute and think 5 MILLION wtf!!!!! That is actually crazy!!! Is he really worth that?? I've gotten caught up with it all I think and actually haven't seen him play. I think we could spend that money wisely elsewhere to be honest. I trust Sven will have another gem up his sleeve for half that price anyway!!
John Matrix Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Yes, cos that's what happens when you bag 10+ goals in a championship season. you must have missed the danny graham and morison signings

I agree with this, but it didn't stop CMS. They both will most probably be marked out of most games next season. It will open up the defence for others, but if they havent got the class it will not help.
RedHux Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Good point. Amazing what one decent season can do for a player or two....(also see Andy Carroll for reference).
