I would love him to score 20+ goals a season for the next 3years, but to be Frank if he scores 25 and gets us promoted, i won't worry about him sitting on the bench in following seasons, he will have already earnt his corn as far as I am concerned!

I think Everton supporters will know what I mean far better than you.

Is that the Everton that finished 7th in the prem? yeh you're right he's no good for the championship whistle.gif

Tit

Everton supporters have seen alot more of him than you and they carnt wait to get rid (You are just desperate)

We can spend our money alot lot better than that. Theres no way he's 28 ! more like 32 / 33 just look at him!

No its the Everton who benched him game after game for his lack of goals and lack of effort. The Everton who just want him off there hands to anybody that will take him.

11 goals in 20 appearances speaks for itself at this level.

He can be a grumpy, miserable sod for all i care so long as he pops the goals in.

That's a bit of a childish response isn't it? Somebody can be sceptical of his effectiveness/age/work rate without hating him.

If I genuinely believed he was that age (look at his face, that's not the face of a 28 year old), if he was going to cost us say £1million ,if he was on £10k a week then I'd agree he was worth a punt. As it is I doubt his value for money.

Why are people so offended that someone else has a contrary opinion? It's not like anything said on his is going to alter the club's policies.

I'm the same age as Yakubu, if you looked at me you'd think I didn't have the face of 28 year old, more like a 22 year old. My mate who is also 28, and I went all through school with, if you looked at him without knowing you'd say he looked early 30's. Guess what, we're both 28, we can prove it we've got birth certificates and passports and everything, it's an undeniable fact no matter what people looking at us think.

You think Yakubu doesn't look 28 because you believe he isn't. You're looking for things about him that prove your belief, but those things don't actual prove anything, it's just your opinion.

This thread sends me into a state of despair.

We've got a chance of signing a player who scored on average more than a goal every two games for us in a distinctly average season, who's got an international record of under one goal every three games, and who's got a career record of a goal every 2.4 games; most of which were played in one of the best leagues in the world!

Yet we don't want him because he's 'lazy' (uses his energy efficiently) or 'moody' (!?).

Some people need to take a step back and realise that we're still just a mid-table Championship side at the moment.

Honestly.

They did finish 7th, in possibly the best league on the planet, are you really suggesting he's not good enough for the championship? 11 goals in 20, with 6 assists thumbsup.gif players do have the odd dip in form, regardless of their ability, but he's shown he knows where the net is. he will score 20+ next season if he signs for us, who cares if he's smiling or not giggle.gif

I forgot about that. I should have added that to my post as well. lol

I go to university with an Everton fan, He said the Yak has never been the same since his injury, however he said he is not crap. he said following his injury he lost a fraction of his pace but still knows where the net is. The yaks goals sometimes appear effortless he is a natural born goalscorer and his game isn't to chase the ball all over the pitch and it never has been. His goal return was more than satisfactory! yes some games he was poor e.g Forest, however dropping from the premier league to the championship is very difficult! Craig Bellamy hasn't scored the amount for goals for Cardiff that they would have liked has he? It's about the team around him and some of his goals this season have been due to his poaching instincts which I think we have lacked for many years. A good striker scores goals any way they can, and Yakubu scores goals.......

Very convincing.....Sounds like the kind of player Everton would like to keep.

Everton have signed players to replace while he's been injured. Sometimes it's just time to move on.

No I'm not.

But I am suggesting Everton are trying to get rid of him to anybody who will take him and I don't see many takers.

You keep saying how good he is, but Everton don't seem to be so convinced, I wonder why.

Two nuggets from a Everton fan back in January I was speaking to:-

''This season has been an absolute waste, lost two of our best players this window, one not really unexpected, but for Moyes to alienate and flog Yakubu was unforgiveable.''

''You're not kidding, brilliant player. Was in and out last season after recovering from his injury, but he was looking like the old Yak around early this season. But thats Moyes, he will happily alienate and boot out good players for the club such as the Yak and Yobo, but build a team around Anichebe''

This is someone who watches home and away. As Facecloth's just said though, sometimes a manager likes to have a change.

Yeah but there's a difference between being sceptical and then some people banging on and on about the same points and don't listen to reason.

He had a bone test at Everton I think it was and he's 28. People can look older/younger you know.

I'm not offended by other opinions against the yak because I can see exactly where it's coming from. Hey even I think he's a lazy shit but he does his job as a striker and scores. And if he's doing that in a lazy way so be it. It's not like he's only been lazy at Leicester. Then there would be a problem, but that's his playing style and that's how he's played his whole career. People expect him to change that for us and I don't know why, especially when he scored so many and popped in with assists.

I just think he's getting way too much stick seeing as he scored 11 in 20 with 6 assists with no strike partner, no pre season, no prior experience with this team. Give him a break.

Everton are a top seven Premier League team, we are a Championship team, get that through your thick skull!

I would happily have Sylvan Ebanks-Blake here, he scores tons of goals at this level. I don't see top 7 Premier League teams chasing him though do you? Does that mean he's rubbish? How about Peter Crouch? Spurs are apparently keen to offload. Does that mean he's rubbish?

Everton may want to get rid, they may find someone better, but they are a top Premier League team, we will not be chasing the same players as them. That's why they are offloading him to us in order to bring in someone they think is better. I could understand if we were in direct league competition with Everton and we were signing their cast off, but we're not, we're a league below!

Exactly, you look at Yakubu and Saha, two completely different players! maybe Everton had to change their approach to going forward to suit him! But if we land him we have landed a gem, he is far to good for the championship, i just hope we wrap the deal up before a another club realises that!

Fair enough they're top 7. All you've done by replying like that, and not discussing any points I made is prove that I'm right.

How can you be right when you post incorrect facts.

Your opinion is just the that it does not make it right or wrong.

If the Yak signs, he signs............lets move on,

You're deluded.

Just cos Everton don't seem to want him doesn't automatically make him rubbish!

If there aren't many takers, that's good for us. We've seen how good he can be. His goalscoring record has been mentioned and speaks for itself, so I won't say it again. If there's no contenders for his signature then I, along with many others (and you seem to be in the huge minority with your own views), see that as a good thing.

How can I be right when I got one number wrong? So everything I say in incorrect based on that one fact? But I can't be right or wrong anyway because it's only opinion. Make your mind up.

So if you're so sure we shouldn't sign Yakubu answer the points in my post, otherwise jog on.
