Yakubu

Apparently we are after Yakubu! I thought there was a thread on this already but after reading it it appears that it must be a different Yakubu because some fellow posters are not jumping around their living rooms at the thought of this. In fact, some people were actually moaning! If I were a more spiteful chap I would assume that they WERE actually talking about the same Yakubu and the only explanation for them moaning would be that they were a little simple. So I have started a proper thread here for people that actually understand that this is the Yakubu that has a strike rate similar to that of Henry. The Yakubu that scores for fun! The Yakubu that just makes you smile from hearing the name. In the last few years we have had Hume, Connolly, Akinbiyi. Deane, Kermorgant, Crncrc, etc. For God's sake Yakubu is the best striker we have had at the club since Heskey and Collymore. I would argue that he is probably better than both of them (he has a better scoring record in the top division anyway).

So for those of you that have gotten confused and have been slagging off the possible signing in the other Yakubu thread I just wanted to point out which Yakubu it was so that you could stop moaning, start dancing and stop embarrassing yourselves by slating a player who is clearly class. And do not, I REPEAT DO NOT, start saying all he does is score or all he never tracks back or runs because they are silly arguments and, more importantly, not even true. Firstly, even if all he did was score then I would have him in the team! We don't moan at defenders who just defend or goalkeepers that don't go on mazey runs. We don't expect our midfielders to pull of a string of fine saves so why so hard on the Yak? I am happy to have a striker that just scores (and scores at a higher rate then anyone we have had at the club for years). The thing is though, he does not just score, he also CREATES! Correct me if am wrong but he directly created six goals whilst at the Club? So that's 20 games, 11 goals and six assists. That means that in his twenty games he scored more than anyone else and also created more than anyone else! To moan about him is to make yourself known as a moron. There is no way you can not be impressed by his record.

Sorry, rant over for now.

Come on Yak, become a Fox!!!

Love it!! and agree completly. Let's just hope after all this speculation he does actually sign. Or the moaners will say they were justified in their position. Also, Nugent would not be a bad sidekick for Super Yak, if that also plays out.

Great post fully agree get the yak in great player will hopefully win us promotion if he signs that is come on yak you know you want to sign

Overweight, slow and a bit lazy.

Does not 'run the channels', track back or even try and defend from the front.

Rarely gets involved in the buildup, tends to get a bit mardy and disinterested if we do not 'Feed' him on a regular basis.

Rarely scores in tight, difficult games.

All in all a bit of a 'Ramprakash'.

Agree with many of your points Mr Rumble, however I expect the Foxestalk elders may take exception to another thread on The Yak!! :lei1:

Well, the other thread has descended into a ring of mutual masturbation over pictures of Hume, Waghorn and anyone else who runs about but does not score. Hopefully the wise old elders will see sense and not censor somebody for actually being positive and getting behind the club and possible players. Unless you want to encourage negative drivel and bile against individuals? Is that the kind of forum you want where we all slag players off? If it is then please delete this thread and all members will know never to try and be positive again. It is up to you oh wise ones.

It seems unless you have at least 5000 posts you are seen as unworthy by some of your own opinion, some of the shite on here is very amusing though!

lol

I agree with everything

but we need 25 goals and for around £2m he's proven and isn't really a gamble unlike quite a few players who are capable of the same, whom in all honesty would probably cost more as well.

Also, I would hope with the benefit of a close season & not having to sign players in a rush the team is better set up in the coming season, than it was since the splurge of signings in January

Totally agree! The reaction to Yakubu is a joke on here people moaning about him in my opinion have no clue whatsoever. Same people moaned about Collymore...clueless!!!!!

Most Leicester fans seem to rate Nugent higher, which is quite frankly laughable.

YAKUBU needs to be got onboard asap

11 goals in 20 games doesn't tell the whole story as 5 of them goals came in two games so 6 in 18 for a premiership striker has hardly set the world alight hence the mixed views.

I don't doubt he has the ability, just some games he seemed as though he couldn't be bothered usually when the team was losing.

Lets be positive though people seem to forget that we have only been back n the division for two years and sat bottom of the league for about 10 games at the beginning of the season.

Some premiership pedigree is better that nothing and alot of fans in this division would be happy to have the Yak in there starting 11

Whilst I see your point I still think it funny to say "well, if you take some of his goals away then he didn't really score that many goals". Surely you can see that is hard on the chap? If it were Waghorn I guarantee no one would be saying "yeah he scored a few but one was as a sub so that don't count and the other, well, I just didn't like his face as his foot connected so we can chalk that one off as well. In fact, if you take away all the goals he scored then he did not even score any! Waster!".

You have seen the "what did the Romans ever do for us sketch I presume?

Bless you, you really are being serious aren't you? Can you tell the time by yourself little chap? X

The facts are 11 goals in 20 games -it's like comparing Fryatt's 20 goals before Christmas in L1 and saying but 8 came in 3 games.

He's actually credited with hitting the net 11 times in 20 games - convert that over a season and he'll score around 25 times - when was the last time a Leicester player scored 25 goals in the Championship. Added to this he'll have a pre-season with us and have better players around him than last season

People say Waghorn should be given a chance, but to me he is just another Iain Hume, great energy and passion, but would be lucky to score 10 goals in a season.

I think yakubu will sign, but not today, in a few days when everything's cooled down. nugent is a target but I think yak is a priority, sven will do everything he can, and if it doesn't work out, its because he has it in best interest of the club. However, Heskey and Yakubu to sign soon I think..

More or less what I think....

There might be some undiscoved gem out there who would get get us the goals but God knows where! If the money is not too outrageous then the Yak is probably about as good as we can get.

Your second point is even more important, we really need the core of our squad together for a proper preseason. We will need real spirit and a basic gameplan that we can fall back on so that we do not repeat the collapse of last season.

If this is serious....fuk off!

Your not for real this guy is muscle there is no fat on this guy

Thought the  might have given the game away.....

Would the real Yakubu Aiyegbeni thread please stand up?

Since there are two distinctly different views of the Yak, I think two threads is entirely appropriate.

This is the one for the fat and lazy Yakubu.

The other is about the multi goalscoring Yakubu.

It's make your mind up time.....:dunno:

Maybe the Yak is a combination of both

Are we supposed to reply to this or start a new thread?

I'm definately more in this viewpoint than the "we love Yak" one.

I think the majority can agree that:

He does score goals! Important but not essential for a striker. E.G Heskey.

He does take a place in the side that a more workmanlike player could occupy & potentially be successful at scoring goals E.G Waghorn.

As long as LCFC win often I am not complaining.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I love the fact he scores goals, I hate the fact he is very lazy.

I think he is a luxary player in an average side especially in a division which 9/10 rewards hard work over skill.

It's down to SGE & he prefered Yak over Waggy. SGE likes his big names, he's going to spend some cash.

We can all share opinions on here but it's pretty pointless getting bothered abuit it as its all down to SGE & he aint listening to us!

Posted

There's no doubting he's overweight, lazy and frustrating BUT ........

He scores goals.

And he'll score 25+ in the Championship next year, which may help us get promoted.

Who was the last Leicester striker to bag 25 in the Championship?

Whilst Wgahorn is the fans favourite, he ain't gonna score many more than 10 in reality - Another Iain Hume, full of passion, enthusiasm and fire, but little end product in terms of goals / chances.

Or did he refer him because he scores more goals?

Arrrrrrrgh. You have combined the Yak and the anti_Yak thread together.........:o

The resulting implosion caused by the collapsing wave function of the threads will cause great harm to the space time continuum......

The energy released will be defined by the equation, where ψ is the number of goals scored and i is the number of games started.
