Yakubu

I've always thought signing a proven Premier League goalscorer who scored 11 in 20 last season for us would be sending out the wrong message too.

I think we should be spending the £3m on Adam Le Fondre instead. A player who has never played at this level and would be huge risk, and the end result could be us pissing £3m up the wall. Now that would send out a positive message.

:crylaugh:

On the evidence of the season to date, half the clubs in the top flight are in need of a quality goalscorer. Why haven't they made a bid for Yakubu?

And how many of those 20 games for us did we actually win? Not enough to fulfill our ambitions of a play-off place. The Yak is too inconsistent to be part of a promotion challenge, no matter how many goals he may bag against weaker sides.

Some people are never satisfied no doubt you'd prefer us to keep waghorn boorrrring !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Macheda > Yakubu.

Based on what? A couple of goals for Man Utd off the bench a couple of years ago? He's incredibly overrated, imo.

I've said it before and will say it again. We should of had Macheda under Pearson but the loan fell through, so we went in for Waghorn instead.

I would like Yakubu back here though :)

Yes we wouldn't want any negativity would we accessory....

Indeed not. We can usually rely on our managers to provide a ready-flowing stream..

Off the top of my head his goals at Preston and Middlesborough should have been enough to secure two wins but our shoddy defence meant we only got a draw in each of those two games. His goals against Derby away and Millwall, Bristol City, Ipswich Town and Watford at home secured victories so I would say that his contribution to the cause was quite noteable.

I wouldn't.

This deal would send out all kinds of negative messages. :(

Yeah, a 1 in 2 striker sends out a ****ing terrible message...

Other clubs don't have the money we do. You're ignoring how many goals he scored for us, in relatively few games.

I've said it before, you've gotta be a WUM or an opposition fan. Never seen you make a positive comment about our club.

Do you delibrately make such sweeping comments to wind people up? :giggle:

Not everyone on here want to have the Yak's babies..

The fact is that he was brought in last season, at some expense, with a purpose in mind - the playoffs - which he failed to achieve.

It is clear from the manager's comments during the summer that he would be very reluctant to bring Yakubu back to Leicester. It is equally clear that the player himself is holding out for bids from teams in the top flight, which strangely, despite his record as "a proven goalscorer", have yet to materialise.

The club thinks (rightly) that it can do better than him and he thinks that he can perform at a higher standard than the Championship.

If the deal is resurrected at the 11th hour, the odour of desperation will waft all the way up from the KP Stadium to Merseyside - and back again.

Yakubu is a fine striker at this level, however he needs a feeding of quality balls, therefore a winger with pace is a must to compliment his style of play, and if we get Maynard as well that would be fantastic.

I didn't realise he was trying on his own. A tenth place finish for Yakubu is an amazing achievement! Imagine how good he'd be in a team!

Try we, as a club, a team, failed to reach the play off. Arguably now we have a better squad, so the excellent record he had last season would be magnified in this team.

I don't care if a deal smacks of desperation. I don't care what other fans or the media think of the deal, if he fires us to Premiership they'll be eating a very large slice of humble pie.

so its solely down to him we didnt get play offs... lol

the maynard deal has hardly been wrapped up instantly either as it, is that desperation aswell now??

macheda has been mentioned with Leicester a lot. i would like this guy more than maynard, and with Yakubu...

You mean the Macheda that has 5 goals in his entire career? Literally scored a couple of decent goals for United early on and everyone thought he was the next best thing, but bombed since then. 0 in 14 for Sampdoria last year and will only play for United again the the league cup!

There are two kinds of City fans out there.

Those that loved him and accept that his apparent lack of effort & high wages can be put aside by the fact that he scored goals.

Or

Idiots that just focus on his lack of effort and how much he costs.

And what shocks me is that some of the ones that focus on his lack of efforts and how much he costs are the same ones saying how much we need a 20 goal a season striker !

It's obvious which one is your point of view
