Joey Barton has been released, Reckon sven will sign him?

:P

Who will be the first to mention the Notts County link ?? Not me thats for sure.

I wouldnt be surprised if Sven went for him tbh, in an attempt to sort the defence out. Theres not many players around with Cambells experience and lets face it, we were shit at the back last season...

Been released from Newcastle today. On the Toon forums, they seem to think he's on his way here.

Also, Sol said he would happily drop to the Championship if it means first-team football.

Worth a punt?

We need a keeper. That is a priority, if not just to shut up our fans with all this 'Dammit Ricardo' nonsense. He's gone now let's move on. Logans surely off too.

Next we need a whole new defence. Naughton back at RB is the ideal and we have a good chance of getting him if QPR don't pounce cos Neilsen is pony (and probably off) Then its all very well getting a young hungry talent at centre back on loan but we need someone next to him to marshall the defence and organise things. If that player is Bamba or Tunchev so be it, if Sven thinks not then it needs looking at. Then there's left back. Berner's not got much left in him and will probably go and Kennedy is obviously on his way out (or has he gone already?). Unfortunately i doubt Hobbs has a future but id like him here as an option at least.

Midfield is not far off tbh. King, Wellens and Abe are the backbone of the team and will hopefully all stay. Oakley will probably stay too unfortunately. But id like to see some options in there to keep them on their toes. Moreno must surely go.

Wingers are again not far off with Gally and Vassell performing ok and seem to be firmly in Sven's plans. Again i'd like to see some competition in there. Not sure how Moussa did at Donny and i know hes had a new contract but im not sure about him and N'Guessan's surely gonna leave. And Dyer seems to be out of favour as well.

Up front is again a key area for improvement. Howards a legend but he Sheff Weds bound i think and frankly getting on a bit. If Kermo gets near City shirt again there'll be an uprising. Sven doesnt rate Waggy i suspect and even though id at least keep him as an option it looks like Sven will sign at least 3 strikers this summer and he'll not get a look in. Crncic is a figment of the medias imagination. If Yak comes in he'll need a foil, someone to do his running and to lay on a few for him.

So in true FM summary stylee:

Out:

Logan

Kennedy

Moreno

Neilsen

Berner

Kermo

Howard

N'Guessan

Waghorn

Oakley (hopefully)

Ins:

Keeper

Right Back w/ backup option

Left Back w/ backup option

Young Centre Back

Leader at Centre Back

Defensive Midfield option

Playmaker option

Left and Right Winger options

Big Striker

Little run about-y Striker

Bearing that in mind my 'Who I'd Buy' suggestions;

Keeper - Westwood and Given are the obvious names floating about with both having been linked. I think we'd do well to get either else Myhill or Schmeichel would certainly do for me.

Right Back - Naughton as stated is the obvious and i'd pay whatever Spurs wanted to get him back here. Id like to see someone with a bit of experience as well like Pantsil but less unpredictable.

Young Centre Back - Id love to see someone like Slobodan Rajkovic sign on a permanent but its more likely we'll get his team mate Bruma back on loan with Ben Mee another probable

Experienced Centre Back - Love the Mellberg shout and Jonas Olsson is another. Daniel Majstorović is another id look at maybe or Jos Hooiveld if he stays fit for longer than 10 minutes is a younger option,

Left Back - PVA is the obvious name again and i liked the Konchesky rumour.

Defensive Midfield - As people have said we need a Cattermole-esque player whose gonna sit in midfield and kick people. Stopping the play and giving it to King to do summat with.

Playmaker - Darren Pratley. Monster. Else would Buzasky get in a premiership QPR team?

Left Wing - I like Andrew Driver and John Fleck dunno how viable either are though tbh.

Right Wing - Someone with a bit of pace. Kebe would be nice if Reading don't go up.

Big Striker - Yak. Lethal.

Little run about-y Striker - I'd love Owen but i still doubt he'd come here.

Mostly obvious options.

I agree with every sentence of this post. With the exception of never having heard of Slobodan Rajkovic and never having seen Driver or Fleck play. Also, Pratley's not really a playmaker. Otherwise, spot on.

Probably the most interesting part of the summer will be to see what the owners' attitude is to transfer fees. Do they/Sven consider them a waste of the wage budget? Or will they form a key part of a policy of buying the best players from the Championship?

My fear is that we'll resort almost exclusively to free's, but we'll wait and see.

Matty Upson has been released from the hammers... Might be worth a sniff at?

No!

Vastly overrated.

He is overrated, but that's in terms of him making the England squad. He'd do a great job in the Championship.

Only thing is there would be a lot of Prem teams after him and he's on a huge wage at West Ham.

Yeah but hes ****ing good. I'd like Michael Johnson as well.

I've seen Driver play a bit for the U21s and he looked better than Adam Johnson at the time. Whether that progression has been hindered slightly by playing in a lower quality league i don't know, but from what i've seen id definately like him here. Fleck i've only seen once or twice and he looks the business.

Rajkovic was at Twente under Maclaren and has been getting plenty of games in Holland.

Leeds have accepted Prem bids for Johnson.

Bradley Johnson who is out of contract, so Leeds have no say in the matter. Michael Johnson is at Man City.
