Oh so its ok to hit someone in a car while drunk and then flee the scene.

I didn't say it was OK you tool, just that malicious intent is worse than cowardice.

The hypocrisy of people semi-defending King because he 'only' assaulted a woman... didn't he do it more than once & hasn't he a string of other offences to his name, including drink drive offence which could have easily been fatal incidents

What if it was your daughter/sister/missus/mum/best female friend.... Would you be so quick to say 'who cares, if he scores a goal?'

Well i guess it depends where you stand then. To me getting in a car while drunk, hitting and killing a innocent person and then cowardly leaving the scene while they lay dying in a pool of blood isnt far off what Marlon King did. Hughes and King have both served their time and while people will never EVER be able to forget what they did, you have simply got to move on. Everyone deserves a second chance, hence why Lee Hughes is now the club hero at Notts County.

No, we don't have to move on.

You've moved on, and that's fine.

But you can't judge anyone else for not doing so.

Firstly, like I said before, I would not boycott games myself.

However, if I had young children I would probably choose not to bring them with me. It is important that they are taught right and wrong and showing them that a bad person is playing for the Club that you are encouraging them to love sends out a terrible message to young people.

As do some people on here. Imagine saying that to your kids - 'he's done some terrible things, but it's wrong to refuse to support him because he's a good footballer. You see, it's OK to do bad things as long as you're a good footballer'. An example that many high profile footballers set these days, sadly.

'Bet she will be there when we get to the Prem' - well how do you know that? How can you say that? If you have any evidence for that claim I'd like to here it, otherwise that's just not on. It still looks to me like you're trying to make out you're a better fan than this person because she has principles. Your wild claims are doing your argument no favours.

People don't need an excuse not to go to games, if I didn't want to go I just wouldn't go. What are they trying to prove by saying King is the reason they won't go? That they have an excuse? No, I should think that's just how they feel.

I have no problem with people who boycott games because they don't feel connected to the Club anymore because they can't accept the individuals on the pitch. I have no problem with people who accept him and go to games. I don't even have a problem with other people chanting his name.

But I do contest it when people do have a go at people for having principles.

Clearly these fans that have gone to the Mercury are trying to make a massive issue out of it. I agree its good to see people with principles but was there any need to get a newspaper involved. If they didnt want a discussion about it, maybe they should have kept these "principles" to themselves.

Clearly we're not gonna agree which is fair enough. I dont mean to make this into a "witchhunt" but to me the prospect of King potentially joining has been blown way of proportion.

Never boycott the club. Think he would be a good signing. Don't like wot he's done outside football. If he did sign and started scoring u would all love it.

I love how some people are incapable of reading a perfectly reasonable statement such as "Causing death by dangerous driving is not murder" and then turn it into "Oh so killing someone by crashing into them whilst pissed is OK then?"

Such incessant stupidity is somehow quite surprising, even for Foxestalk.

Driving drunk and accidentally causing a death, then running from the scene out of fear is, of course, a pretty terrible crime. But it wasn't premeditated, the guy had no desire to injure or kill. He made a stupid mistake (oh and btw how many of you are going to say that you've never driven a car whilst thinking you might have been over the limit?) and has to live with the consequences of it.

On the other hand, Marlon King was (still is?) a nasty piece of work who consciously caused injury to a woman, despite being given such good fortune in life as to become a rich and successful footballer.

Therefore, on morality alone, I would rather have Lee Hughes at the my club than Marlon King.

That said, if I could avoid employing any convicted criminals in a position of such privilege then I would do that.

Larry, read the list of convictions ffs.

A second chance yes, but this bastard has had 13 chances, he hasn't moved on, he hasn't accepted his guilt and he hasn't apologised, but then he doesn't have to, people on here are doing that for him.

To be honest this thread has gone way off topic. Let me just clarify what im saying before a mob ends up at my front door. I dont like Marlon King. I would never chant for marlon king because what he did was disgusting. People have to decide individually whether he deserves a second chance and yes people are entitled to their own principles. To me however, never watching your team again based on one player to me seems daft. Does that mean these fans will never come again after he has left the club? Should a true supporter not stand by your club whatever the hell happens?

I really didnt want to get into the ins and outs of his conviction list because that wasnt the idea of this thread. I just wanted to gage the response to the article.

Stop going on about 2nd chances, he's recidivist.

Again we go off topic but since he left jail how many offences has he committed? Are people not allowed to turn over a new leaf in your book?

I don't think he'll turn a new leaf or any of that crap, people who beat up and semi-rape women don't ever really change, just try to pretend they have. If you can do something like that you are a cvnt for life.

However, we are a football club not a nursery school, if he will score goals for LC sign the dickhead up.

"King has convictions for 14 offences, dating from 1997.[30][31] He received fines, driving bans, community service sentences, a rehabilitation order and orders to pay compensation on convictions including: theft from a person and from a car, criminal damage, and attempting to obtain property by deception; fraudulent use of vehicle licence document, driving without insurance, speeding, drink driving; a wounding incident while playing amateur football, and two cases involving assault of young women rejecting his advances in the Soho area of London" - wiki

What a w.... he isn't prem and he is clearly a twit. Why are we looking at him?

Not really the best place to be if you were a woman.

Is it?

City should not sign a player that brings so much baggage, we are not that desperate for an aged striker with no proven ability at premiership level. I think sven's judgement on this moral issue is a bit questionable but then again his judgement sometimes has been a bit dodgy both within football and outside. In saying that, I won't boycott city because marlon king is playing for footy for us like I would've still supported the club if BNP supporting Brown was still at the club. However City were quick to get rid of a an alleged racist but seem happy to buy a convicted woman beater.

If the current trend of the poll doesn't change then it would suggest that people having a go at would-be boycotters are barking up an empty tree...

Who said anyone was a boycotter on foxestalk? I for one am very glad that no-one has answered yes. The boycotters we are "having a go at" as you so put it are the ones who contacted the Mercury. Please stop trying to create an argument for the sake of it.

What King did what disgraceful and throughout his professional career has gone from one controversy to another. However the guy has also paid his debt to society and has not repeat offended since he came out.

Perhaps he has decided to grow up and is a different guy from the person 2 years ago. Perhaps not but as no one actually knows him people are too quick to judge him on how he was not how he is.

If he came, played well and scored goals and behaves in appropriate manor then I do not see why he can not become a liked player here. There is too much hate in the world at the moment as it is. If he came, acted in an inappropriate manor then he would be bombed out of the club anyway. I can't believe I am saying this (must be getting old) but give him a chance.

 How many issues are raised every single day in the media by one or two do-gooder ***** who absolutely no-one else in the world agrees with? I agree that boycotting the club over any signing would be ****ing imbecilic but I also don't believe there are really many people at all who take part in it, hence it doesn't bother me.

I wasn't creating an argument but you managed to turn my comment into one, congratulations lol

Here here :appl:

I will not boycott games myself, but getting on your high horse because somebody else has some principles is a disgrace.

Football is not all about winning, despite what some may think. It's about pride and bravery. Marlon is a coward who has not admitted fault or apologised, and I would certainly not be proud to support him.

In an interview he did after just gettin out of jail he did seem sorry and genuinely changed,i know its easy to say that, but since getting out and playing for cov has he caused any drama, no he has just concentrated on the football.

Genuine question not trying to be a smart arse or anything and I am not condoning him coming here but to everyone who is against him coming, how did you take the news when we got Stan Collymore. I had no views on the Stan Collymore cases because I was too young to follow news like that. Is there a difference between Collymore and King??
