Danno Posted 21 May 2011 Posted 21 May 2011 Not been given a new contract by SAF. Thoughts? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1389611/Alex-Ferguson-confirms-Owen-Hargreaves-Manchester-United-exit.html
Danno Posted 21 May 2011 Author Posted 21 May 2011 Bollocks Can an admin move this to general football
Guest DavidJCW Posted 21 May 2011 Posted 21 May 2011 Well if this is in relation to him possibly moving here... then no thanks. Injury prone and would do nothing but play the odd game here and there, messing up the team balance.
Kitchandro Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 Shame. Very talented player but yet another who's been ruined by injuries. He'll probably retire soon. Will always remember his performance against Portugal in 2006, the only England player who played like a man and showed some pashun! It was a one man team. A great example that sadly, the rest haven't followed since. One of my favourite England players of the era, even if he isn't English
whitlock Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 Pay as you play type of deal wouldn'y hurt. Big fan of him. Talent.
Jimmy Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 pay as you play deal and not massive money its worth a punt but I think he's done
LCFC_15 Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 I won't be surprise if Sven makes a move for Owen Hargreaves. When Sven was in charge of England, Owen Hargreaves was one of England's best players in the 2006 World Cup. It could be a good move for Leicester as it would allow Andy King to play more attacking. The question would be: Is Owen Hargreaves worth a risk (knee problems)? I think so, possible give him a trial before signing him. Pre-season would be good to see his fitness. What's your opinions?
Christoph Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 No thanks, his knees have completley gone and I wont be suprised if he retires soon. He's certainly talented but I dont think anyone wants to risk seeing a person who has played 5 minutes of a season try and come on for our promotion chase.
somebum Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 Even if he was fit, which he isn't, there is no way he would contemplate coming here. Bayern to United to Leicester? Not a chance.
Jimothy Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 Even if he was fit, which he isn't, there is no way he would contemplate coming here. Bayern to United to Leicester? Not a chance. Bayern to Man United to 4 years on the treatment table to pretty much any team that's half decent and willing to give him a chance more like. Not saying he'd jump at the chance to come here, but I don't think Hargreaves is a position to expect anything from any big club. I don't think Hargreaves will be scoffing at any decent offer he receives.
sdb Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 No point having a good name on a treatment table. Utd wouldn't let him go if there were strong signs he'd return to the player he was. Feel for the guy.

I don't think we should go for him really, I just think the idea that he'd be the one to knock us back is laughable. He was a great player, he has to prove himself all over again, and an offer from a team like us shouldn't be something he should scoff at. Like you say he'd be too much of a risk though.
zubi Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 The bloke should just hang up his boots and call it a day.
Foxes4Life18 Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 I'd take him but only on a pay as you play contract then your nor wasting silly money
One Arm Babba Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 Would be awesome if fit but in reality him and players like woodgate are too big a financial risk.
Bert Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 Take a look outside the box. Sven hasn't offered Tunch a new contract because he's been out for so long. Why would he then do the exact opposite to someone who would probably want/warrant 10x more wages than Tunch? Who's to say he'd come here anyway? I'd be over the moon if he did come here and stayed fit, but it's very unlikely, for me anyway.
Tuna Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13492384.stm Adding my own slice of pointless speculation. Sven knows and rates him, maybe he could be interested if he isn't too knackered up?
The Doctor Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 Transfer talk guidlines: [2] If there's a player you think we should sign, stick it in the Who you would you buy? topic. ..... We don't need everyone's two pennies in separate topics, I'm afraid
somebum Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 I highly rated him, but he should jack it in now. He's finished.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 The best 'holding' midfielder England have ever had. They wouldn't have failed so miserably post-2006 had Hargreaves been fit, in my opinion.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 Transfer talk guidlines: Chill out. The OP just highlighting he's not been offered a deal by SAF. He wasn't speculating he's City bound FFS.

Mack Posted 23 May 2011 Posted 23 May 2011 Hargreaves.. Owen.. We are not basket case FC! All Manager's like to return to what they know, but surely Sven wont sign a pile of crocks.
