Hack Posted 25 May 2011 Posted 25 May 2011 "For me, when Chris Powell left, things started to spiral slightly. I think he was a big miss and I wish we could have kept him because he was respected so much in the dressing room. I would have to agree. That it is no coicedence that our poor run in the new year happen soon after he left. Thoughts?
MikeyT Posted 25 May 2011 Posted 25 May 2011 Got to be honest and say I never even thought of that, but i guess it could have been a factor i guess. Our defence was very shakey to say the least, so maybe.
sphericalfox Posted 25 May 2011 Posted 25 May 2011 a. Steve Walsh does not spend much time in the dressing room anymore, what with him not being in the squad, nor the coaching staff. So how does he know what the feeling is in there? b. We lost games, and were defensively naive and poor when Powell was with us. Can we blame him for those performances? Or does Walsh need some sort of turning point to base his theory on, that is purely speculative, and from my point of view inaccurate?

Just Walsh trying to keep his name around the football club, legend on the pitch, really was. Comes across as an idiot off it to be honest.
Nick Posted 25 May 2011 Posted 25 May 2011 Absolutely. Never seen a guy wandering round town with so many daft 'hangers on' - We all posted that we may having been missing Chrissy P defensively, this isn't news, insight or anything else, just an ex-footballer loved and respected as a football player offering some drivel.
BrummieFOX Posted 25 May 2011 Posted 25 May 2011 Walshy is just a fan and is guessing as anyone on here would do. His comments are starting to piss me off.
StanSP Posted 25 May 2011 Posted 25 May 2011 Exactly. Just Walsh trying to keep his name around the football club, legend on the pitch, really was. Comes across as an idiot off it to be honest. He's hardly an idiot. All he's doing is offering an insight of his feelings about the club he became a legend with.
Guest MattP Posted 25 May 2011 Posted 25 May 2011 He's hardly an idiot. All he's doing is offering an insight of his feelings about the club he became a legend with. I didn’t say he was an idiot, just saying he is coming across as one, he is making the point that our defence has got worse since Powell left, which as someone else has said is a daft point as Powell was here earlier on in the season when our defence was at it’s worse. Our defence hasn’t recovered from Pearson leaving, probably because he has based his side on a strong defence whereas Sven and Sousa have more attacking intentions. Also, if he wants to offer insights into the football club and the teams performance he should probably be watching the 2nd halves as well instead of getting pis*ed with Muzzy Izzet whilst the game is going on, but that’s a different story.

You can stick around... more sensible people the better.
I am Rod Hull Posted 25 May 2011 Posted 25 May 2011 Powell went and we then won 5 games on the trot... I was just thinking that..
Trav Le Bleu Posted 25 May 2011 Posted 25 May 2011 Two of the three City articles in yesterday's Leicester Mockery started with, "Steve Walsh believes..." The Mockery is turning in the Soar Magazine.
Corky Posted 25 May 2011 Posted 25 May 2011 All he did was score a couple of goals against Derby once
jamesmilner Posted 26 May 2011 Posted 26 May 2011 our poor defensive form was exactly when sven changed the team around after a long run of good results .you also cant just blame the defence , you start defending from the front .
