Our own song

IMO the Jersey Budd version of when you're smiling is better because everyone can actually can keep up with it!! However it does need to be played a little later when most of the fans have found their way to their seats.

Like against Man City it was put on later and was sung pretty darn well! And about people not knowing the words could put the words on screens now we have got some for a season or two so people learn the words!

was just about to suggest the same thing. Use the screens, put the song on just before kickoff and it just might get going.

The club can put it in the match day program, the birch could ask people to join in. surely it can't be that hard to spread the word. Once it's done for a few games people should get the hint and join in

It's usually played about ten minutes before kick-off, which is a good enough time.

You are both massively wrong. When done properly with the hand shaking at the end before breaking out into a rendition of We're Leicester can be awesome. I guess that you prefer mindlessly chanting LCFC to a Burning Ring of Fire. Now that shit is cringe worthy.

lol

I never even said it was shit you moron.

I agreed with the original post saying it's not anthem material, and I'll stick by that, oh when the blues sung slowly, is more anthem material in my eyes - for arguments sake, I'm not saying we should make that our anthem, but it sounds more anthem like.

lol at the ring of fire comment. I think that can be half decent at again, a decent tempo and in small doses, not constantly sang at 1mil mph, sounds awful.

No chance. No chance on earth, Should be played when Hey Jude is currently played. I wouldn't mind us putting it then and coming out to Hey Jude in the 2nd half, personally.

When You're Smiling is our song and has been for years, criminal that so few of our supporters know the words to it.

Reckon this should get more recognition myself. :scarf:

What a tune !

I like WYS, but its hard trying to get everyone involved.

The grounds almost empty 10mins before! Everyones still sipping on their pints in the concourses! It needs to be just before or just after the squads announced over the tannoy!

And where did I say you said it was shit? I said the Ring of Fire chant was shit and it is shit. Read the post properly next time before calling me a moron. It makes you look a bit of a tit.

This Is The Season is a cracking song! Has to be sung as its really relevant this season too.

I do like WYS, problem is though sometimes its sung way too quickly and just doesn't flow at all.

As well as playing "I'm on a boat" when I was on a boat in the Adriatic, the DJ also managed to slip that in. I think he was surprised that I knew all the words.

You've got to dig through all the sinatra and dean martin songs to find a classic - like You'll Never Walk Alone.

"Impossible Dream" is a good song. Might be difficult to get people singing it though.

My mistake there then, mixed that up a bit, similar comment though, implying I'm more in favour of shit songs purely because I don't see WYS as anthem material. lol

I don't see the problem with WYS, having been at wembley for the Play-off finals and hearing 30,000 plus stand up and join in, as a kid that sent a shiver down my spine, It's still pretty good at away games but at the walkers no one joins in and the sound is lost anyway.

As for people not knowing the words WTF, it's hardly taxing is it?

On one last note the Jersey Budd version is Rubbish END OF!!! A Leicester !

We have got a song and most the ground and all the away support join in it's simple and easy to learn to. "twat your shit aaarrrhhhhh" never heard it in them words anywhere else it's ours.

That is not a song.

It's ours, alright, and I'd keep it (bit cringey but can accept every now and then), but it's far from a song.

Of course you do, it's a tim song.

It's an Irish Rebel's song actually :P, Celtic fans just sing it.

On WYS, definitely our anthem, put please god don't let the words appear on the screen, every Leicester fan should know the words, I don't see how you can not know them. I thought we got rid off that kind of shite with Hoos.

I find chant threads a bit cringeworthy. The beauty of chants are that they're spontaneously created on the terraces.

The beauty of anthems is that they capture the history of the club. I find it incredible that any Leicester fan can not know the words to - or even worse not enjoy - When You're Smiling. It's in the history of our club. It's part of what being a City fan is about. You can't turn up one week and expect thirty thousand people to start singing an anthem of your choice. It develops over generations. I've got no idea why When You're Smiling is our song, but that doesn't bother me, what's important is that it's our song. The fact that such a large number of our supporters don't know the words or don't sing it is a disgrace.

As for greatest football anthem - Fields of Athenry (or Anfield Road if you're on the red half of Merseyside) is a bit too Republican for me. Marching on Together really impresses me when their away support belt it out. I think we've been out of the big time for too long for me to make a fair assessment though. Very few clubs have a distinct anthem that thousands of fans belt out everywhere. Then again - what's that song Bristol Rovers sing?

Posted

Goodnight Irene is what Bristol Rovers fans sing, that's a good anthem. Either that or Blowing Bubbles are probably my favourite anthems of other clubs.

Love WYS sung properly though, shame it happens rarely, but when it does it sums up being a City fan.
