Callabinho Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 He criticized or was abusive in an abusive or angrily insulting manner? Damn iPhone! Somehow bob changes to Burma?
davieG Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 The problem is simple. Expectation I think people are annoyed as historically, and you'll agree with this Babs, Stringer has over-hyped any tidbit of news. He has called 'wolf' so many times that people's expectations are overly high. Not that we shouldn't be expecting good things this summer, but stoked by ego, and pushing ratings the ground-work has been set. I appreciate that Tanner didn't say anything untoward or over-hype things. unfortunately he used the words 'embargoed'. If this was in fact Coventry news, then why would he have to keep shush. It's choosing words carefully not to sully one's reputation and not come across like the Stringer. He has slightly failed in this regard. But the fan base is biting at the teat at the minute to hear anything of worth and there's going to be a lot of mindless garble on FT and elsewhere about every tweet, and every nuance of info out there. I am trying my best not to rise to every overblown comment posters make. I won't go over and over how I think those in the know are manipulating the masses with their unprofessionalism again. That has been covered to death in other threads. Rest assured there's going to be endless nonsense all this summer on a scale that we have not seen before. At least we can put to bed the Marlon question and any split therein it may have caused amongst fans. But I have a feeling there will be one or two players coming in that will cause equal divides though not based on convictions but not criminal convictions. Perhaps he got it from Marlon's agent who asked him to keep it shushed and maybe that agent has or could provide other info in future
Bert Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 Get a grip. Tanner never claimed it was big news, he even said it was news on a transfer target, (which we all knew King was) but not coming in or out.
Petchy Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 It's embarrasing to be a member of this forum sometimes most times. He clearly downplayed the tweet, yet you all jumped on the hype bandwagon and got sour grapes when it wasn't that 'ZOMG MAYNARD SIGNS' tweet you were expecting.
sphericalfox Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 Perhaps he got it from Marlon's agent who asked him to keep it shushed and maybe that agent has or could provide other info in future That's fair to guess. But you can see why it may have been misinterpreted by the frothing masses. It you read the tweet it would suggest the club (LCFC) have embargoed the news he cannot divulge. Expectations rise and then numbers of fans soon become disillusioned by tweets and their tweeters. I'm sure he could have said that it's transfers news not directly linked as such with the club, therefore not breaking the 'embargo' and keeping expectations down. I'm not making a big deal out of this, but if every news story/transfer deal comes by this means or elsewhere then it's going to be a long summer of bitching at each other because there's overreaction or disappointment at the size of the news story or transfer.

Well it's a tweet and as I understand it there's a limit on the number of words people can use so tweeters get used to speaking 'briefly' if people can't understand that then that's their problem. You're right it's about expectations and some of our fans expect every story and ever transfer to be ground breaking for LCFC, it won't be so they'd should get used to the idea that some of it will be mundane, boring, uninspiring and questionable. No matter how it was written or what words were used some on here will over hype it and others will see that and ignore the original.
Tommy G Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 How embaressing. King probably didn't sign because he looked on this forum and saw the ****** posting on here. Literally an IQ of 4 some people
Narborough_fox Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 It's going too be loooooooooooooong pre-season if we react to every tweet like this.
thybluefox Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 Seriously why so much fuss? Tanner was obviously told not to reveal the story last night, but he did downplay the news and say it wasn't anything big. Maybe the safest thing to do would not to tweet at all until you can actually divulge all the info. Personally I'm quite pleased with the news, he was a player most fans didn't want here, so we can now move on. Maybe he's signed because we weren't interested, as we've pretty much nailed on signing Yakubu or Heskey? People need to chill out, I know people are desperate for some news, because so am I, but all the crap just isnt worth it.
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 Chill guys there are going to be lots of transfers. Just need to be patient!
Haydos Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 I still don't get why he couldn't say that. Weird. Get more listeners on the show (Stringer) and more readers (Tanner) Don't generally like being cynical but that's probably what it's going to come down to with transfer stories this summer.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 I still don't get why he couldn't say that. Weird. Do you think maybe his motive was to try to sell papers and get people using their website?
Babylon Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 I still don't get why he couldn't say that. Weird. Because clubs release this information to journalists early on the condition it is only reported after a certain date or time. Ignore the embargo and clubs will just stop doing it full stop, he has probably been given the info from a local cov journalist, if he had released the info early it would have burnt his bridges with fellow journalists and football clubs. It might make them seem like club puppets, but journalists need good relationships with the clubs they report on. If they don't have that then it will restrict the flow of information they receive/report on.
sbfox Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 Do you think maybe his motive was to try to sell papers and get people using their website? Or maybe that legal information relating to player contracts, transfers etc. is embargoed until a certain time? Edit: damn you Babs...
benmeysner Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 Damn iPhone! Somehow bob changes to Burma? were signing bruma?
Babylon Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 were signing bruma? Yeah it's the huge, massive, mega, gigantic news that Rob Tanner didn't report.
accessory Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 How embaressing. King probably didn't sign because he looked on this forum and saw the ****** posting on here. Literally an IQ of 4 some people As opposed to the MENSA members who have contributed to his new contract by turning up at the Ricoh in such large numbers..
Dan Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 I think Leicester fans are probably the elite, most impossible to please bunch on earth, literally haven't known anything like the divide in opinion/contradiction you get with our fans time and time again, it's yet another case of he can't win, he posts about a bit of news SENSIBLY about a transfer TARGET (so of course it won't be about our own fvcking team) and gets slated for overhyping it? Stringer overdoes things big time IMO, to a stupid level but Tanner's been sensible and people having a go need a serious look at themselves, guaranteed at least one fan would've gone "Why didn't Stringer/Tanner tweet anything about this" or something along them lines. Seriously, there's so many lose-lose situations with our fans I've never known owt like it.

sdb Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 I don't know what's worse, people getting all hot and bothered about a tweet, or people getting hot and bothered about those people getting hot and bothered about a tweet. Nobody is coming out of this looking good. It's been a really nice day outside folks!
