whitlock Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 Nugent, Derbyshire, Vassel, Howard and Waghorn, i believe aren't going to be good enough for us to go up automatically. Was hoping for a 'bigger' named signing, but i guess Sven knows what he's doing, hopefully.

Liamlcfc1 Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 i think he would be great in tis division hope he signs

Was hoping for a 'bigger' named signing, but i guess Sven knows what he's doing, hopefully. Howard will be off and Vassell will simply be cover next season. He should have been this season when he was signed but other players weren't up to it. If we got Yak as well as Nugent and Derbyshire then that's pretty much our front line sorted: Gallagher - Yak - Nugent/Derbyshire.
drc Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 such us Jeffery Schlupp !!! When we signed Hargreaves, double man city defenders, schmeichel and a right back, we're all set.
sphericalfox Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 And how is he meant to answer those questions? Just leave him/her and we will see if they are proven right! Long before you, we had knowitall who was pushed out by constant questioning like this I am not badgering them. It was a fair question, and as they had not posted before it was a legitimate yet poorly written query. Understanding whether they ONLY have info about this transfer and will not have anything further in the future is good to know too. If this comes true or to light further down the line then great. If they gave other info on other things then I look forward to those too.
whitlock Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 I did say in my own opinion, i dont have a particular player, i would class the Yak as a 'bigger name' than the other players. Just because other promoted teams didnt have big name strikers, doesn't mean that every promoted club doesn't need one. I think this season will be as tough as its possibly been for a while.
MikeyT Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 such us Jeffery Schlupp !!! When we signed Hargreaves, double man city defenders, schmeichel and a right back, we're all set. Do you know something the rest of us don't?
Guest ttfn Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 Derbyshire would fall under the same category of "solid squad player" as David Nugent. Would be a decent player at this level, but nothing spectacular from what I've seen. In any event, if it's a choice between the two, then it's Nugent every day of the week. We'll need better if we're going to mount an automatic push. If we sign a top quality striker as well, then we'll be talking. But it'll be bye-bye Waghorn.

Who do you have in mind as this 'top quality' striker?
drc Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 Do you know something the rest of us don't? Nah, I know people who knows Sven who are living in Sweden (but they don't have everyday contact or something like that) and I sometimes get some gossip, but most of it never happens. Wanting something, and getting something even if it could be likely seems pretty difficult in this football world.
Guest ttfn Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 This is getting boring! I ask again... Who do you have in mind as this 'top quality' striker? Well, given that we've been heavily linked had a bid accepted for Yakubu, it's pretty clear that that's the calibre of player that management thinks it is feasible to attract.
whitlock Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 This is getting boring! I ask again... Who do you have in mind as this 'top quality' striker? Who would you be satisfied with as our strike force next season?
drc Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 I don't know if the owner have cooled down on the importance of "BIG NAME SIGNINGS", do you know Bert ? These latest links seems more sensible and straightforward, just as most of you asked for last season, don'r sign prem players, sign proven championship players.
StarFox Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 Maybe it's time for us Leicester supporters to realise that next years squad will have to work at 110% next season, just like every other team in the division. Buying a well known striker like the Yak isn't going to happen nor will it guarantee us promotion. I'm still confident we will do it, but it probably won't be an easy ride like some people have hoped.

He's been playing in Europe and in the prem all his life why would he be a 'solid back up player' to a championship side. Just because he's not a big name (even though he's a bigger name than most players in the championship) doesn't affect if he scores or not. We had the luxury of having yakubu score goals for fun without even trying but if it's not sustainable for the club to put him on a long term highly paid contract then they won't do it. Were Danny Graham, Grant Holt, Lucciano Becchio big names when they topped the scoring charts? No. So what is the obsession with bringing in someone who has a bigger name when Matt Derbyshire could probably be on that top scorers list.
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 Who would you be satisfied with as our strike force next season? Well I've made it clear above that I would be happy with Derbyshire and nugent... But given a preference I would have liked to have seen mckail-smith at city.. Not the finished article by any means but lots to prove at a higher level and full of energy and commitment. I'm unsure as to whether he's left borough already though
TheUltimateWinner Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 Would be a good realistic signing sven. Well done, Sign him up <3
Legend_in_blue Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 If I hear Yakubu's name mentioned in the same sentence as big name player again I swear I will go round the twist. Again and again and again. Will people stop the Yakubu lovin'!!! For crying out loud!
superfox1980 Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 Bloody hell. I swear some people on here think we should be signing the the likes of Rooney, Messi etc.......So we've got 'a bit' of money now and people have gone mad. Go back 12 months and I'm pretty sure we'd have all been happy with the potential signings of Nugent and Derbyshire. Both top signings IMO if they happen. They're at a good age with premier league experience - Good or bad its still experience of playing at the top flight, can only be beneficial to the rest of the squad. Both are better than what we've got currently. Maynard would be awesome but can't see us getting him and certainly wouldn't want to pay anything over 2.5m for him with one year left on his contract.
