DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 I can honestly say, that I know very little about the lad. It is most important, that we bring in players who will gel, and work together. That is more important than bringing in big names, who may be individually excellent, but not necessarily right for us. Sven is wise, and obviously has eyes for those who will fit in, to the type of team he requires. I will judge for myself, on next seasons results, and not on who he signs, before the next big kick off.
andyking10 Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 wouldn't be bad but i still think vassell is better on the wing. are you joking?! most of vassell's best games was when he played centre forward!
Bob.For.The.Win. Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 I don't understand how people can say that people like Matt Derbyshire & David Nugent aren't good enough?! We got into the play-offs with strikers like Howard, Fryatt & Waghorn who are rather average for this level (Well I think Waghorn is underrated but that's another matter). People on this forum need to think what they are saying to be fair... Do they have a brain?

We do have some delusional fans, who expect ACTUAL Premiership first teamers to come in because we have the "Unlimited, bottomless pot of money".

I agree with everything there however, i personally think Waghorn is overated by some on here(that isnt saying i dont rate him at all) if this £10m pot of gold we have is true and includes wages/signing on fees etc then it really wont stretch that far. im happy with this possible signing.
oxford blue Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 I agree with previous posters that he would be a useful addition to the squad. But...he's hardly a proven goalscorer. He joined Birmingham on loan last season with a view to a permanent signing. Not surprisingly, after 13 league appearances and 0 goals, he is still looking for a new club.
LCFC-Sam Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 He did get 3 goals in 7 Cup appearances whilst at Brum

Bettsj2 Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 We've been linked with free players, expensive players, older players, young players, Premiership players, lower league players, players who want the monies and players who are hungry for success. The one thing that brings them all together is that a section of Leicester fans will complain about all of them. Matt Derbyshire is an excellent player. Just because he wont cost £4m doesnt make him an average squad player as some are suggesting. Same goes for Nugent. Portsmouth paid out £6m for him only 3 years ago and he's not even hit the peak of his playing career yet. These players would be excellent additions to our squad and I hope to hell that both will sign.
Babylon Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 Why not West Ham have just signed Nolan, wasn't he the Captain of Newcastle and didn't he scored 12 goals in the Premiership last season. If they are doing that we must expect Leicester to do the same. Why must we EXPECT that, they have a giant wedge of cash from parachute payments and will probably sell Scott Parker for 5 times what they paid for Nolan. We don't have that kind of money.

We don't have that kind of money. West ham have to be faves for the coming season in my opinion.. The parachute payment will pay for Nolan and others. Added to this they have some good young players in Fred sears, Zavon Hines. Heard that Gardner is not signing though.. Failed a medical.. According to 21st century they are also sniffing after the yak Gonna be tough to beat IMO especially at home

MC Prussian Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 Well I've made it clear above that I would be happy with Derbyshire and nugent... But given a preference I would have liked to have seen mckail-smith at city.. Not the finished article by any means but lots to prove at a higher level and full of energy and commitment. I'm unsure as to whether he's left borough already though Just because we're talking Derbyshire and Nugent here you say they have nothing to prove in the Championship??? You're doubting players' commitment before you've even seen them play for Leicester!!! How fickle do you need to be?
1969 Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 fact- west ham have parachute payments and their board need to gamble and spend big to get back to the premier league before they move into the olympic stadium. we can't compete with them financially currently. as the sensible posters (babylon, bert etc) on here keep saying - be patient! sven needs to build a squad as well as a team. this will be a mix of the young and hungry, championship experienced and probably some bigger name signings.

I did not say that Derbyshire and nugent would not show commitment.. I stated that I'd like mckail smith because he appears a very committed player and that he would have lots to prove if he came to city. This was following being asked who I would like to see at city. You've accused me of being a troll... Take a look at yourself.

U speak senz bruv innit If sven does bring both in I hope he can continue with the same standard of recruitment across the team. Some if our fellow fans just need to be more patient and stop insisting only the likes of messi being good enough for the team

Can't you be happy for once without having to come up with a "but..."?

roblcfc84 Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 Alright everyone. New member so go easy on me. I think derbyshire and nugent are solid signings if they go through I think it's important to draw a distinct line between the premiere league and championship. As fans it's easy to want triple A signings but what we need is players who can do a job in the championship.
Babylon Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 You tell that to the ones who still believe we do...!! Ha that's what I thought, abusing the wrong person!
