RumbleFox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Oooooooooh I love a bit of this! It's like playing Champo 01/02 all over again! I used to have a book and I wrote down every formation of every game all season including substitutes and tactical changes throughout. I gave each player a mark out of ten and wrote little commentaries in the margins. I enjoyed it so much but then it all went a little wrong. It was the relegation to the third tier year and then, well I split up with my girlfriend and the dark times came. I used to cry myself to sleep and think about hurting people. You ever think about killing your loved ones? You ever touch yourself til it hurts? You ever wake up in the night screaming then realise it was all a dream before finally wishing you were just dead? Hold me. I'm shaking. So, anyway, here is the formation I'd like to see. Schmeichel Peltier Bamba SSL Masilela Abe Wellens Danns King Yakubu Gallagher Or any other of the myriad of formations and personnel to be honest. To be honest I'd jut be happy with someone to hold and for people not to laugh and point at me. Rumble X

Daz93 Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 As it currently stands with the players we have/are very likely to have: Schmeichel Peltier - Bamba - SSL - MasilelaAbeKing - WellensGallagherNugent - Vassel Also, I heard on Danns' interview on the BBC website that he plays on the wing as well as the centre, so maybe a 4-4-2 option is viable with the players we have with him and Gally on the wings?
Monk Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Schmeichel Peltier - Bamba/Mills - SSL - MasilelaWellens/AbeDanns- GallagherKing Nugent/Maynard - Vassel Pretty confident we'll play 4-1-2-1-2 with attacking full backs.
artursteppe Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 King and Wellens will spend a lot of time on the bench next season. Abe and Danns are better all round players, and cover more ground, Sven likes that in players, must have a high work rate. There will be squad rotation, and I believe the squad will be large and impressive. Do not think for a moment that the midfield and attack in particular will remain constant. I also believe that Sven sees Gally as his Beckham type player, I think we will see him very often in King's role, that is central behind the forwards, rather than wide. In an attacking 4-3-3 formation the midfield for big matches would likely be Danns, Abe and Gally in the forward midfield role. In a more defensive 4-4-2 formation the big match midfield line up could be Gally, Abe, Bamba, Danns. King and Wellens will get their chances, but they will not be major influences this season.

The Doctor Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Schmeichel Peltier ------- SSL ------ Bamba ------ Maseila Danns ------- Abe ------ King Gallagher -------- Kermorgant Vassell subs: Smith (GK), Tunch, Berner, Wellens, Moreno, Schlupp, Waghorn based purely on what we have now (if you believe the israeli media about maseila). If we get another keeper then i'd have them on the bench ahead of smith, similarly if we get mills he'll go into the first team and bamba on the bench instead of moreno.

I couldn't disagree more about King, both with regards to his position and how much he'll be involved. He isn't an attacking mid. He'll spend 75% of games sitting just as deep as Abe without the ball and even with the ball he isn't an outlet in an attacking position. He often receives the first of second ball in the middle of the park, distributes and then concentrates on his final position. Either that or he won't be involved in the build up at all. I know you don't rate him too highly because he 'goes missing' but I think he'll be one of the first names on the teamsheet. Wellens may take more of a back seat fair enough but a centre mid with 15+ goals in him is invaluable, even if he does have a few quiet games.

I just think that Sven likes Gally, he will know that Gally is more effective in the middle of the park, he will be bringing in other forward players who will be in Gally's role for last season, and King as a defensive or all round midfield player would be no better in those rolls than Gallagher. Therefore straight choice Gallagher or King, I think he will go for Gallagher. Gallagher would score at least as many as King in that role.

Sooper Steve's shin Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 First team with the squad we have as at this moment would, I think, be: Schmeichel Peltier Bamba St Ledger Berner Wellens Danns King Gallagher Nugent Vassell Looks a fairly solid Championship lineup to me. We have decent backup in some areas (Weale, Abe, Dyer, Waghorn) and some possible backup for others (Tunchev, Neilson, Oakley, Howard), but it's fairly clear that another quality centre-half (Mills), left-back (Masilela) and striker (Maynard?) are the gaps that Sven is looking to plug. If we got those three before the start of the season then I'd be very happy. Even the first two would be good, as I think Waghorn is potentially very good at this level and Vassell has decent pace that Sven likes. If we do start like this, the key will be getting Nugent confident and scoring from the start - I think he has the ability to bag a few in this league, but Leicester fans can get on a forward's back if they haven't scored after a couple of games. Have to say I really think Sven is showing his football knowledge with the signings made so far - targeting the cream of the Championship/League One rather than opting for bigger name fading Premiership stars like many would be tempted to do with the money available. It also seems clear that the owners are letting him get on with it. Just imagine if Milan Mandaric had their money and the sort of signings we (he) would be making!
lcfcadam Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 I was liking the idea of Bamba as a defensive holding midfielder but highly doubt we'll get to see that.
