Pride comes before a fall...

I sat there this afternoon thinking... all this mocking of Rangers... and Bristol City... its just been making me feel so uncomfortable.

I know some of those fans have been poking fun at us and people have responded to that. I think even i might of done last week to a Bristol City fan... but doesn't that just make us as bad as them?

I consider it an honor and a privilege to have the owners that we do. Do people forget so easily how it felt when we hardly had 2 pennies to scrub together? The relegation to the first Division?

Surely fans with true integrity should rise above the goading.. not respond with such silly comments and just be grateful for the position we are in.

Lets face it... we are not THAT big of a club. We ARE extremely fortunate the new owners chose us... and in turn chose Sven. We are just a little bit more fortunate than other clubs right now. That's all really.

All this " we are so great other teams HA!" just makes me feel uneasy.... It could be very different in 5 years time..

Lets just enjoy the ride whilst its here!!! :scarf:

I don't think we're laughing at them because we have new owners, we're laughing at their reactions to us having new owners.

I rarely see a thread on here dedicated to other clubs, yet they all seem to be pretty voyeuristic towards our affairs.

We mock other clubs because we are football fans.

But come on. When was the last time time when we were in the "spotlight"?

Must of been 7 years ago since we got auto promotion in this league (should of won it really). Since then, it's been a bit crap to be honest.

But look at us now. World class manager, bringing in players who we would of never got without him.

New owners with deep pockets full of cash, and have a passion to move this club forward.

Let's make the most of it, and piss everyone else by bragging

I agree.. I personally wouldn't be bothered to make the effort to post on another fans forum... And would not get as uptight about another clubs dealings. I guess it shows the 'passion' that still exists in the footballing world and also that some fans really don't have lives to lead...

Some of the posts made and comments by opposition fans have been very vindictive though... Jealousy appears to be the cause I would say... We are fortunate in that, for the first time ever really, we have decent money to spend. Does that make us a big club? In my eyes... We're by far the greatest team the world has ever seen'... And always will be

I don't think I've seen anyone say we're nailed on for promotion, seriously suggest we're bigger than Rangers and that clubs like Bristol City are mere midgets compared to us.

If anything with Bristol, we've had more fun taking the piss out of their little man syndrome as a club and hilariously deluded valuations of Maynard.

I do think automatic promotion is the aim for us, but I'd also say that West Ham, Birmingham, Reading and Forest will have similar ambitions and of those, only two will be happy come the end of the season. We're a couple of players away from avoiding the disappointment of missing out, and there is still work to do.

Not many of us would claim we're the finished article just yet.

What Bilo said, really.

I don't think the forum is any more full of delusional people than normal. We might have a few morons that think we're a BIG CLUB but generally I think we've got a reasonably modest and (if anything) pessimistic fanbase compared to a lot of clubs.

I see more people expecting it all to go tits up than expecting us to storm the league. Cautiously optimistic seems to be the vibe.

I certainly don't think there's an over abundance of misplaced 'pride'. The banter with Rangers, Leeds and Brizzle fans has been just that - banter. And as it says in playground rules... "they started it!"

It's all banter.

I don't think anyone has completely said anything with malice like 'OH BRISTUL SHITTY R WEL SHIT I OPE DEY GO DWN, DERE ALL RACIST NOBEADS DAT NEED 2 GET A LYF.'

It's funny how some of the other fans from other teams have been saying things with malice though.

That's what really is funny.

Rangers fans were calling us mediocre and shit, no problem with us pointing out we beat them to a signing.

MPH- my feelings exactly. I put in another thread that it wasn't so long ago that it wasn't so long ago that we nearly didn't have a club, so to me it doesn't seem right to gloat.

Although its brilliant being in the spotlight for the right reasons, at the end of the day we are NOT the biggest club in this league. Birmingham, west ham and leeds are at least as big as us. We're just very lucky (for now) that the owners chose us, and we now have sven. I'd prefer it if we rose above the slagging, and hopefully quietly go about a promotion winning season with dignity. Then we can gloat!

Sounds a bit poncy I know, but some of our gloating could come back to haunt us, then we'd be the laughing stock again. We've done nothing yet, and whilst i'm well chuffed with the signings so far, we all start the season level on points. There are some good teams in the league this year and I don't think any team will run away with anything.

I agree.

There were a lot of bitter fans on other forums and it seems many are quite interested in us which is understandable with all thats going on here.

Having said that, I hate to think what any other fan who has browsed this thinks of all us City fans, there's some pretty arrogant stuff scattered about.

I suppose anyone with sense will realise you get stupid posters anywhere though.

I'll only mock other fans when they act like total jebends, like the Bristol fans have..

Football is full of surprises (cue Cilla Black) so i'm enjoying this ride right now but i'll always keep level headed because one minute it's great next it's not so great and as Leicester fans we should know that by now!

But right now like i said i'm loving this ride
