ian_marshall Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Whilst everyone's singing the praises of the new owners (and rightly so) following our recent spending spree I think it's time we took a moment to remember and thank Milan for giving us the opportunity we now have. Whilst many will be critical of the manner in which he operated the club during his tenure, he always stated his intention from day one that he would leave the club in a better position then when he arrived. I recall much criticism thrown his way in the aftermath of his departure from the club particularly concerning his commitment to the club, his apparent motivations for owning the club, and decisions made in his final months in charge to attract potential owners which at the time many believed were erratic and unnecessary. On reflection it now seems that he did indeed have the clubs best interests at heart screening our potential suitors to ensure they had the resources to back up their claims. I'm sure many people approached him with nothing but pipe dreams promising the world with no substance. Given the fact that his own finances were being scrutinised by the tax office many in his situation would have just sold to the highest bidder who had the capital to push the deal through quickly, and would have happily ignored the consequences of the clubs future. Therefore I'd like to acknowledge Milan for taking a chance on our club when we looked like we were heading down a road to nowhere and thank him for his contribution in choosing the right people in the end to take the club forward. The legacy which he left behind I'm sure will fulfil all of our dreams of returning to the promised land of the Premier League.
wurmer Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Yeah, thanks Mandy for the manager merry go round and visit to league 1.
RumbleFox Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Was going to write a long, expansive reply to this but too tired do will simply say: I fully agree. Thank you Milan. X
bettso Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 It pretty much sums up his time here where the best thing he did during his tenure was to sell the club.
ajthefox Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Mandaric picking seemingly good owners was a complete lottery, just like the managerial merry-go-round was. We went through no end of shit, then got one good manager in Pearson and then we all know what happened after that. Lets also not forget what has happened to Portsmouth. Gaydamak certainly didn't turn out to be a great appointment for them did he?

I was going to agree with the original poster...but your quite right we got lucky.Just look at Pompey, Brum etc. Having said that theres a long way to go anything could happen
MPH Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 The Best thing Milan did for us was to sell us. Do you REALLY think he did that for our benefit though? or do you think maybe he made a handsome profit and that he is a businessman?
Fox92 Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 I like Milan for what he did. I like the new owners even more though for putting their money where their mouth is
beemeroo Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 *shrug* He 'found' the right buyer. To be fair, I wouldn't have put it past him to sell us to someone extremely unscrupulous. Maybe he just got lucky.
Guest MattP Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Lowest point in our 130 year history. Endless off pitch embarassment. 30million approx added onto the clubs debt. Thanks Milan, lets go and find that old Pompey thread where they all thank him for the good times and praise him for leaving them in the hands as someone as ambitious as Gaydamek. Or we could actually thank the shareholders at the time who accepted the paltry offer in front of them from Mandaric because they wanted to save the club. The real people who saved Leicester City FC.

Well that is extremely unfair, if you care to remember the media hype that Mandaric created with the sycophantic Merc and RL imploring fans to back the duplicitous Mandaric with his oft repeated totally untrue £25million offer and stories of the club being liquidated. The board were driven into a corner with fans baying for them to sell to Mandaric, one Member of the board did resign but they couldn't all walk out could they. Unless I've misunderstood what you're saying. As for Mandaric the worse period I've endured in over 40 years of watching LCFC and the lowest ebb ever - that's what he provided.
Babylon Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 I remember Pompey fans saying the same about MM when Gaydamak started splashing the cash (before things went pear shaped).... lets wait and see shall we.

I totally agree with everything you are saying, a totally unfair package was put forward and we were forced to accept it exactly due to what the Merc etc says, first thing Milan seems to do is bribe the local media into scare stories over admin etc, happens everywhere he takes over.

Kingy_85 Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Milan, thank you for... The pointless appointment of Nigel Worthington. The disgraceful appointment of Martin Allen (and all of his signings you sanctioned). The ridiculous appointment of Gary Megson. The laughable appointment of Ian Holloway (and all of his signings you sanctioned). The jaw dropping treatment of Nigel Pearson. The baffling appointment of Paulo Sousa (and all of his signings you sanctioned).
Houdini Logic Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 The man sacked the best and most successful manager we'd had for many years because he was more concerned with making a sale than the success of our club. Fuck him
Nick Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Some worrying reading this... He'll get you out of administration or the risk of it like a conquering hero. After that he wants to survive and not spend with a view to investing in the image to sell. Hope he sells your club as soon as possible if he can make 15 million next week on his investment he'll be gone. He will never take you up because he doesn't want to spend what he has. Sorry mate, at least you still have a club.
