One Arm Babba Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 I think thats quality, fairplay to Bernie. He's Leicester through and through. They should do a run of his designs...
Jimbo Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 i know from when i was a kid bernie the legend lived in sileby and walked to and from all home games respect deserves more than a shirt !!!!!! He lived in Quorn didn't he? They've knocked his old bungalow down now, built a couple of houses on it. I remember the days when Bernie knew my name and used to shake my hand on his way to the bogs in the White Horse to nick the loo roll. You should see him do a crossword, he'll finish it in a few minutes. And as to how old he is, he's got to be late 70's now. I remember what seems like years ago he was saying he wanted to walk 70 miles on his 70th birthday for charity. He's actually quite an interesting man when you do get some sense out of him. Like his story of when he got married. He took his new wife to London for a few days on their honeymoon 1966, just so he could catch an England game

ozleicester Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Giving Bernie that T shirt (with the shops name discreetly included) actually would be some cracking advertising for the shop, lets be honest, he is forever on you tube and as shown from this topic, everyone is seeing him round the place. Go on shopkeep, make the tshirt for free
ozleicester Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 I would smash that. And the lass too. He knocked you back the first time... what makes you think youve got another shot?
Jimbo Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 No way Fair play to him, I thought he was only 50 odd. I dunno how accurate the info he gave me is, lets be fair he's as mad as a bag of ferrets, but he is funny to talk to.
samlcfc Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 the guys mad. He started screaming at me once in the highcross just because i was wearing a leicester shirt. Walked past him and I just saw his stare lock on aha. Then just "arrrrrrrggghhhhhh" from behind me

AmyLGK Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 I think its a bit sad when i see people filming bernie and you here them say "we'll put it on youtube!! ha ha ha" Yeh I was just thinking this - who is this guy anyway? The man obviously has some mental health issues. I feel really sorry for him
MrSpaM Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Theirs just something wrong about putting videos on youtube of people with learning disabilities, and i know he has one because one of my friends has to look after him on a weekly basis.
MC Prussian Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Bernie's got a haircut and a shave, too! And when he speaks, it makes sense!! A miracle!!
SMX11 Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Yeh I was just thinking this - who is this guy anyway? The man obviously has some mental health issues. I feel really sorry for him I think he is just permanently drunk, god knows how he organizes his away trips to games. I can remember last year at QPR away he wanted to get into the toilets and he growled "get out of the way" to some blokes and they were all like "Sorry Bernie" as if he was a VIP

I thought he had been a chartered accountant in his earlier days. I'm not sure whether he has mental health issues nowadays though or if he simply can't look after himself because of years of alcohol abuse, but it's sad to see people taking the piss out of him.

Jakemoore Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Has anyone ever wondered how be affords match day tickets and travel etc etc because he looks like he doesn't have a penny on him.....maybe he's just stinking rich
Spudulike Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Sorry, shouldn't laugh but it was bleeding funny when the bird held her nose
Leicfox Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Has anyone ever wondered how be affords match day tickets and travel etc etc because he looks like he doesn't have a penny on him.....maybe he's just stinking rich I know a bloke who was like that, he used to walk round with 8 dogs on some old washing line he'd made into leads. He was stinking, his clothes were falling of him etc etc, but was always in the bookies every day. Turned out he had thousands and thousands of pounds stashed away and people then wondered why he was living like that. I can't give an answer to it either but I'd go as far to say loneliness plays a bit part.
danlcfc4ever Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Anybody else feel anger towards the douchebag talking 'Who is it?' Bernie: Andy King 'Is he good?' etc etc. Knob.
Guest Bilo Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Yeah, the bloke filming him was clearly taking the piss out of him. Talking to him as if he were 8 years old. Smug prat.
sdb Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Agreed the camera man a bit of a dick. Showing off to the fittie. And my lord is she.
bluebeau Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Bernie is a City legend, Top ought to give him a free season ticket & a seat in the VIP's area! Put him in the line-up prior to kick off & he would scare the shit out of the competition! IMO he's not mad but extremely eccentric, but if you catch him on the right day, he talks sense & is not as daft as you may think, I remember a few years ago at Filbert Street, The Birch interviewed him on the pitch & gave him a brand new City shirt to wear instead of the grubby old thing he was wearing, but I've never seen him wearing the new one to date! There's only one good old Bernie!
John Matrix Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Yeah, the bloke filming him was clearly taking the piss out of him. Talking to him as if he were 8 years old. Smug prat. plus the fact he's surreptitiously filming him. what a tosser.
SeattleShane Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 I used to work with Bernie at Mansfield Hosiery in the mid 80,s . He seems to have gone down hill a lot recently. Still a legend though.
