Larry_LCFC Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 With the news that Norwich City have signed Kyle Naughton on loan for next season, Im wondering whether we have really missed out on a big opportunity. I For one think Naughton will be one of the best defenders this season and although we have made some good signings in Peltier and Pantsil, I think Naughton outplays them both. What are your thoughts?
ealingfox Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 Well seeing as Naughton won't be playing in our division I don't know if the trick we've missed is that big to be honest. Would have been nice but can't blame him for going to a Prem side. Paintsil is more experienced and pretty good from what I've seen, although his recent history might suggest he'll turn out to be the new Frank Sinclair in one way. Peltier is unproven so i'll reserve total judgement for now but at the moment has to be Paintsil for me.
SemperEadem Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 Naughton is ready for top level football now, this is something we at the moment cannot give him.
General Smuts Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 Already earmarked Pantsil as a possible Chris Powell replacement in my heart. Prove me right JP.
Larry_LCFC Posted 22 July 2011 Author Posted 22 July 2011 I dunno I just feel that with the links we have with him from last season, he may have come back. I understand he wants to play premier league football but I think we're really gonna miss out on his pace this season. Then again maybe sven isnt looking to exploit the loan market this season?
MikeyT Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 Well, Naughton isn't our player and Pantsil and Peltier are, so one of the latter two.
BrummieFOX Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 Naughton>Pantsil>Peltier That's in terms of who I'd prefer playing for us a right back. Next season however Pantsil will hopefully prove to be a great signing, very experienced and solid right back and with a young, hungry and exciting player pushing for his position he'll need to play well. Our defence is looking VERY healthy on paper and I'm glad Sven has realised that was the priority. We'll score goals all over the pitch and in my opinion, investment in a strong defence was far more important than a 20-goal a season striker. I'd be delighted to see him here but I genuinely don't think we NEED Maynard. Yes we need another striker who is guranteed to score goals but I don't feel that money needs to be splashed out, or even risked on someone because we are searching for those 20 goals. 10 from Nugent, King, Gally and A.N Other striker as well as goals from elsewhere on the pitch would sort be fine if the defence plays as well as it could.
Fox92 Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 How can you really say when Peltier hasn't played Championship level before? Naughton has gone to Norwich, he isn't at Leicester now, so support Peltier and Pantsil. I'm confident Peltier will be as good as Naughton.
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 pantsil has the most experience, where naughton and peltier look like young prospects. it doesnt matter who is better of the three, only 2 of them are actually our players, so we need to worry about developing good RB's in Pantsil and Peltier
Corky Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 Out of the three, I'd want Naughton the most, because he was probably our best player last season for consistency. However, he is good enough for the Premiership, we can't offer that yet so it was always going to be difficult to get him back. Peltier is highly rated and Pantsil has top flight experience, so we've not done too badly.
acooling08 Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 This poll is a bit unfair considering we have only seen Naughton play for Leicester.
topharry123 Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 Pantsil has looked good when I have seen him previously, and in this division he should excel. Not too bothered about Naughton. He was good for us but he's premier league quality and we're not there yet. Peltier can't judge on till i've had a good look at him.
Haydos Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 No idea. Never seen Peltier play and Only seen Pantsil on MOTD. Just like 90% of everyone on here. Stupid question.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 I'm just pleased we have two very, very capable right backs on our books competing with each other now.

Larry_LCFC Posted 22 July 2011 Author Posted 22 July 2011 Completely pointless !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why is it? I am interested to know based on the knowledge we have of our possible RB's, how do people rate them against Naugton from last season - or even whether we should have pushed for another loan spell with him. Dont get me wrong Im really happy with the two signing we have made but I just wanted abit of a discusssion on a forum about Leicester City. Why is that pointless.

How many games have you seen Lee Peltier play?
Fox92 Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 How many games have you seen Lee Peltier play? Exactly.
joel Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 How many games have you seen Lee Peltier play? Good point I haven't seen Lee peltier play once
Larry_LCFC Posted 22 July 2011 Author Posted 22 July 2011 Anyone would think Peltier comes from a foreign unheard of league. Baring in mind he made 85 appearances for Huddersfield who played last season one league below us, including the televised playoffs, I have seen enough of him to make a basic informed opinion of him. Am I the only one who watches the football league show. He did pretty well on it from what I saw. Obviously no-one can make a total judgement on the guy until we see him in the flesh but Im sure people know enough about him to answer a simple bloody question. People seem to make enough judgements on some of the other new signings we make without even seeing them.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 Naughton, but havent seen the other two play properly.
cc_star Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 Have no clue Naughton was great, but he's not going to be turning out for us Peltier sounded fine on the radio the other day & I've heard very good things about him, making Pantsil a strange signing, but at least we have strength in depth at the back with at least Peltier/Pantsil SSL/MillsBamba/Tunch(maybe)/Taft Berner/Konchesky on the books
LestaFox92 Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 End of the day norwich will be going down(hopefully) so we can sign him up on a permy once we're there it's all in the master plan trust mehh!
Rich Fox Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 Naughton was the best of a bad bunch last season just like Hume was when he played, we have moved on and are massive now.

Hold on - 30 seconds or so of footage of his team playing once a week, in which he might have been shown for 5 seconds is enough to form any sort of opinion of a player?
