Mack Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 We need a striker, most of our targets seems to be playing silly arses. Schlupp has served his apprenticeship, get in their son and prove you are the answer!
the_foxes_till_i_die Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 i agree, i wish sven would give him and waggy a game at 4-4-2 in the league but if he was going to do that i cant see it being today against Reading
Nick Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 i agree, i wish sven would give him and waggy a game at 4-4-2 in the league but if he was going to do that i cant see it being today against Reading Schlupp will get game time - but to start with it will be when we are winning. He'll be bled in gently being given 10 minutes here and there, getting the nerves out the way so he has confidence when he has to step up and start. I'd be amazed if he 'starts' before Christmas.
Fox92 Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 I'd like to see Schlupp given a chance. He has done well for the academy and consequently scored a hat trick on his debut
Zingari Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 He's 18 isn't he ? 2 years older than one Peter Leslie Shilton who was thrown in at the deep end and he seemed to cope pretty well give the lad a crack
jonthefox Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 I agree he should be given his league chance, but i reckon the bench at most. However, if we end up controlling the game, bring him the fook on sven.

Most players get their break when something is needed - a win, a replacement due to injury or something that's missing in the team. And we've got lots missing that Schlupp seems to have in abundance. If team's only gave people chances when they were winning regularly there'd be some folk never start their careers. This idea that young people are somehow nervous or lacking confidence on the big stage is just so much nonsense. Kids like Schlupp have played in Cup finals and matches that seemed big to them for years. He was probably a winner from primary school days. He'll be bursting with confidence and self belief and I doubt it will be any different on the Championship stage. And, even if it is, he'll learn and adjust. Winners do - it's what makes them what they are. I don't say ther are guarantees. Everyone can have a bad game for a multuitude of reasons. But he's earned his chance and I don't see how he's any more of a risk than anyone else. The bloke has got abilities we need and others haven't got. Why would we not use him?
dannythefox Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 I would be very surprised if he doesn't get a a few minutes today.
broughtonblue Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Think the 5 subs instead of 7 could work against him when we play teams that could be promotion rivals like today. A keeper, atleast One defender, two midfielders and one experienced forward makes 5. Hope I'm wrong though

Because if he gets on and misses three chances he'll be slated and lose confidence. Bit like Manchester United's new goalkeeper. Young players are bled in, it happens all the time. It's also quite sensible. Throwing in at the deep end Thrac is not always the solution - I hope he gets a game today though.
Mack Posted 13 August 2011 Author Posted 13 August 2011 I agree he will probably only make the bench today. Personally I'd throw him straight in, he's in form and his confidence must be at an all time high.

Webbo Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 With Vassell suspended this is the perfect opportunity to start. Even if he has a bad game nobody is going to write him off forever, credit our fans with a little bit of sense.

Webbo Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Have you never been to a game or have you VERY short-term memory? Looking at your response you're probably right.
sphericalfox Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Looking at your response you're probably right. Ho-ho. Badoomtish!
Nick Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Looking at your response you're probably right. Bit unnecessary. To be fair our fanbase is comprised of a high percentage of idiots. Do you listen to the moan in? Were you around for the Weale chants against Ricardo last season? Why are you picking a fight in every thread?
ithuriel Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Sven said he is high on confidence, now could be a good a time as any
Zingari Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 flippin heck Nick , if Webbo's post sounds like fighting talk you must frequent some pretty rough places

Personally I'd throw him straight in, he's in form and his confidence must be at an all time high. I would play him from the start...theres nothing like confidence to keep a good run going..and he looked very confident against Rotherham. What would be wrong, today, IMO is to keep him on the bench and to bring him on for the last 10...he'll be champing at the bit and will get frustrated if Svennis don't give him a proper go...

I'd like to see him get 40 mins in the second half maybe - but perhaps wouldn't start him to prevent the risk of having to sub him off and trashing his confidence.
