BBC sports news correspondent Dan Roan on Twitter: "Everton on verge of signing Royston Drenthe, who has arrived at Goodison."

If the two are related as suggested earlier, it would appear this is nearing completion.

His big success was when he was in Div 1 scoring 25 goals (many less than CMS??? ) to get them promoted and then left for Everton and scored 8! goals in the Prem

scored 20 34 and 31 goals for leeds in league 1 in three seasons and scored 10 for everton in the league last year. get your facts right.

Have got my facts right, he got 25 LEAGUE goals in their promotion winning season in Lg1

And 8 LEAGUE goals for Everton last season

His attitude whilst engineering a move away from Leeds was disgraceful

I want him here as we're desperate but would have preferred Maynard or Yak but sadly it seems like it's Beckford or nothing

I'm sure him & Nuge will be great,

BBC: Everton now happy there will be no late twists in Arteta tale. He stays but Beckford/Leicester & Yakubu/Blackburn close. And if Beckford/Yakubu go through then Everton expect to sign Drenthe/Stracqualursi. Simple."

He wrote that before the Cahill rumour but it didn't update on the live feed. I'm sure they'll turn Stoke down though.
