Libertine Dream Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 Oh! so THATS why he hasnt signed.... we have no clue how to complete a transfer.... the other 11 contracts happened by accident. From an explosion in a printing factory... could it not be that the selling team have a part to play in this? That other teams KNOW we have money and are asking unreasonably high fees ? I mean... just an idea like... They're not unreasonably high fees, everybody has to pay according to what the holding club can accept or reject. Just put the money on the table, a striker could be the difference between promotion and another season in this division,. That makes 6.5 million look cheap!
philce Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 Are you saying we don't really stand a chance of signing him if we leave it til the last minute? Or do you mean we should wait until the last day, because otherwise we wouldn't stand a chance? It all depends on whether any serious offers come in from the PL. If there aren't any, then I think it would be pretty likely that we'd get him, considering Brizzle would know they'd be throwing about £6m down the drain if they keep him and he leaves on a free next summer. Brizzle might want to wait as long as possible before the transfer window shuts for an offer from a PL club, but they'll also want some time to use the money on strengthening their squad, so it's not out of the question that something happens in the next few days. If he seriously thinks he's too good for us (waiting for a better offer) should we really sign him? This sounds like we are being messed about here. I can see him going nowhere, then moving to some tin-pot side for £2M in Jan. I just wish we would do something either way and get it over with, seems like everyone we are linked with dosen't want to sign for us.....
lestajigs Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 I doubt it. I'm sure we have other irons in fires. I doubt the club would put all their efforts into one target, risking going home with nothing. I'm sure there's a plan B and a plan C. You should no by now Sven does not have a plan B!!

21st Century Fox Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 The sooner we put a bid in the longer it leaves to draw out and let other clubs get a sniff and start a bidding war. Patience.

Just put the money on the table, a striker could be the difference between promotion and another season in this division,. That makes 6.5 million look cheap! I would have to disagree. 6.5m for Maynard IS an unreasonably high fee. He has been injured for most of last season and never played a game in the prem. He is also in the last year of his contract. Whether we will eventually pay it or not is a different matter all together... The signings we make could have a direct influence on how much we pay for our tickets next season. and Potentially our club debt as a whole... i dont even know my im explaining all this again... its been explained so many times in the Maynard threads...
Kitchandro Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 The other options sound either unrealistic (Beckford) or not as good (Yakubu/Ebanks-Blake). We've had all summer to do this and I say screw all the other options, send in the bid asap. I think the longer we wait the more risky it becomes, a Prem team could panic and go in for him before the deadline, and he isn't getting any cheaper I'm afraid. We still have to discuss personal terms as well - if they break down we'll need time to bring in these other options and the window is closing.
Raw Dykes Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 Yeh they were beckford and ebanks-blake, now back to plan A maynard Well, I didn't mean just two backup plans for the whole transfer window, or even now. I meant there'll always be an alternative target that we'll look to sign in case we don't get the main man we're after. Once one of the targets on the list becomes unavailable, the names below that target move up the list. I'm sure there are targets added and removed from the (not so) shortlist all the time. There's no need to panic anyway - even if we do fail to get a permanent transfer in by the end of the month, we'll still have plenty of time to get a loan signing.
wurmer Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 Has this version of the Maynard thread had a man riding a pig yet, can't be arsed to check....

I think they'd just as likely put a bid in if they knew we had, so it's probably safer to leave it late in this case. I do agree with your other point, though. Perhaps we'll start the ball rolling on another signing or two as safety nets, only to cancel them if we get our main target.

Come on Yakubu is proven quality in the top division and solidified how good he was by scoring 11 in 20 for us, even after he tailed off a little. Ebans Blake is debatable but again got a few goals in a higher league in a team that fought for their lives all season. Maynard spent much of last season injured so you're really only going on what he did prior to that. Don't doubt for a minute that he isn't a great striker and would be a great addition, but i'd much rather have the Yak, and it's a toss up for Ebans Blake.
MPH Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 Has this version of the Maynard thread had a man riding a pig yet, can't be arsed to check.... no... But i'll see your man riding on a pig and raise you a baby monkey riding on a pig....
panky and our gang Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 Maynard Hmmm what ever you think about his will he won't he come to us saga , I saw a top class striker who did not panic when the first bite of the cherry was took away and managed to size up the situation and stick it past us . He WAS class and anyone who saw him knew it . If we can get him I think he will be our best buy of the summer .
ronnup Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 no... But i'll see your man riding on a pig and raise you a baby monkey riding on a pig.... And..........we're back.

Sorry, can't agree about the Yak, I'd hate to get involved in another debate about him but the short version is he's too inconsistent. We can't afford to carry a player for 50% of the games, no matter what he does in the other 50%. Ebanks-Blake is now out for a month so that seems a moot point.
wurmer Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 And..........we're back. Oh yes - as useful as every other post in every other Maynad thread.
MPH Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 And..........we're back. im being very reserved in how this thread COULD turn out..... im in the mood to get about 100 of my posts deleted.... bit of humour brightens the day!! And the whole Maynard saga is doing my head in!

Yeah there really is not debate anyway, it seems that some people like the Yak more than others so really just comes down to personal choice!! Ah didn't realize that about EB either! Honestly i'd like to see us get the Yak and Maynard. Regardless of who the better player is we'd be certain to get goals !
Carlos9 Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 Really? He's claiming Winsford is Liverpool when it's and hours drive from from Liverpool and about 20 minutes out of Chester. http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090315163001AATtZaT -2nd comment down sorry to go off subject again. I never said Winsofrd was Liverpool, I said it was the overflow of Liverpool. Anyways, Maynard DID text my mate today saying "na lad, just rumours" It doesnt mean he isn't coming but thats what he said.
Guest ttfn Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 Nicky Maynard went to school with a mate of mine from uni, who was in the same class as him for Maths. Nicky Maynard was apparently not very good at Maths. I just pass on the info I've got.
