Waghorn - where to?

Strange how short some of your memories are...

Waghorn under Pearson was one of our better players... A promising young talent that Steve Bruce was reluctant to sell until he got what he felt was the right offer.

Linked with a number of clubs before we finally signed him

Posts on here were praising him for his pace, his power and how he could run into the channels and hold the ball up.

Now he's suddenly shite...

The fickleness of some people on here is beyond understanding.

I guess it's the same people that adored Hobbs and then made out 'he weren't really that good'.

Personally I still believe waghorn will have a part to play in what will become a successful season

That's unless Sven goes and sells another of our younger players....

He scored 12 in 47, hardly what we want in a striker. And hes become worse as a player since then. You'll blame Sven for not getting results, yet if he plays Waggy, we won't get results, because hes shit. Yet if we do get results, and Waggy doesn't play, you'll say he should be playing and his talent is wasted.

Nevermind fickle fans, I'd rather listen to them than boring sods like you that moan after every game, win, lose or draw.

Easy to say a player is shit isn't it...

And to accuse someone of boring when he dont share your opinion

Did you read my post amongst your childish rantings.. I said I think waghorn still has a part to play in what will be a successful season... Yeah thats really negative ain't it..

You're more of a moaning twat by simply labelling a player as shit... Who is it gonna be next? Gallagher? Bamba? Abe? Leicester loyal? I'd suggest Leicester disloyal might be more apt... lol

Like Hobbs, Waggy struggles with the new type of football we have played since Pearson left. We've also all seen him play much more now, and can see that while he does have pace and power, he (like a few other players) lacks a consistent end product. Like have seen with his attempted free kicks against Bristol.

I for one would like to see him go out on loan and get some more experience, as I still think he has something to offer us, just not quite yet.

That's far more a post worth reading... I'd keep him personally and get him playing. I still think he can do a job in a squad which is already short of strikers

Who would you remove from the 11 to get Waghorn in? Everytime Waghorn has came on this season it has been a last ditch attempt to salvage some points- and each time he has came on his performance has been shocking, he just isn't the player he was under Pearson.

I'd love a loan deal for him, as we know he is capable of good performances- it's too much of a risk playing him until he finds form. Think of how many points we will drop until he gains confidence.

il he finds form. Think of how many points we will drop until he gains confidence.

Get the formation right and have the courage to give the player a decent run in the side and I reckon waghorn still has the minerals to be the striker we all thought he was going to be.

Nugent and waghorn/vassell in a four four two would be the way to go for me..

Selling a good young player for a fraction of what we paid for him so soon is too easy.. I'd like to see the potential in waggy realised at Leicester city, not one of our rivals.

But this will take coaching and the risk of giving him a run in the side

When Waghorn is 21 and can't even side foot a ball, I think that his "potential" was really just a flash in the pan.

Seen enough of him that things are not working out here, therefore there is no point keeping him.

Had a fairly decent season under Pearson, not amazing, it's been utter dross since then.

Problem is he may be unhappy. I loved him in his first season for us but since he's signed he's been complete and utter dog shite...no two ways about it. The kid has lost his touch and sparkle. I would loan him out to league 1 but I think he wants fist team championship football. So, I would sell if it facilitates the purchase of maybe someone like Le Fondre or that Danny Hanes. Rumours flying around we are going for SEB from Wolves....

People on one of the Leicester city pages on facebook are so disillusional. Saying that 1.5 million is an insult, that he's the man to get us 20 goals, he deserves 5/10 games to prove himself.

Do Southampton have a scouting network? If so are they paying their scouts adequately? Are their scouts in anyway connected or have been connected to Portsmouth? Do they give their scouts regular mental/eye/IQ tests?

I'm trying to think of all logical explanations why a club would be willing to part with £1.5m for a striker who I've still not seen hit the target even in warmup! £1.5m? Yes please and thank you very much'

Nigel Adkins took Gary Hooper, Billy Sharp, Andy Keogh plus others while he was manager of Scunthorpe and turned them into decent strikers, he and his coaching staff had a nack of spotting potential and on the whole improving players. I believe Southampton would be a good move for Martin Waghorn as he would receive the coaching and encouragement he needs to bring out his potential. Personally I would have loved to have had Nigel Adkins as LCFC's manager.

How right you are. Adkins has earned 100 points for Saints faster than any other manager, so I was told this morning and, what's more he seems to have done it by attacking at every opportunity rather than just to the point where they think they'll cling on.

Southampton.this season have scored 13 times in four matches and last season notched 86 goals with just 38 conceded which suggests they have a finely balanced team. They have an outstanding record of youth development to full first team level and that looks set to continue.

Waghorn has not improved one iota since he came here, in fact he's gone backwards. Okay he's lacked for regular opportunities and has wasted a good many chances that he's been given.

But when you look at the things we've done with him - playing him on both the right wing and left wing on occasions, you do have to wonder if we have the slightest idea what we're doing.

Cos that's the sort of thing you might do in emergency with a player who's full of confidence or as a long-term conversion exercise with a player who's noted for his adaptability.

Not with a centre-forward who looks like he'd be struggling to score from 30 yards into an empty net right now. Even watching him shooting in before matches is an embarrassment, and he's not the only one.

Wherever he goes, Waghorn needs to play where he belongs for a while, as an out and out striker.

He needs to work on his shooting technique, his right foot, his movement in the bos and on his mental state of mind when he does get a chance to score. He needs to work on his first touch, the consistency of his passing and the pacing of his game so that he doesn't burn all his energy on lost causes.

I've not noticed any improvements along these lines since he signed for Leicester and if I were the owners I'd want to know why.

The good news for Waghorn is that I've seen strikers with less than Waghorn's ability do well enough with the right guidance. He's still young, doesn't strike me as the sort of guy who won't listen so who's taking responsibility for him?

He might still fail to make it but if our people can't turn him into a better player than he is now then I don't know who they're likely to improve.

Any club can buy ready-made players but it takes special people to improve every player who comes under their charge.

Let him go out on loan, I think he will be a good squadmember when he got his (I am the power I am the king) inside him so let him goes for loan to Sheffield W and next season we have a striker :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:
