Fox 4 Life Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 gutted, absolutely gutted. Waghorn will always be a blue in his heart. Once a blue, always a blue! goodbye Waggy, good luck He is a mackem who came through their youth system, had a good spell at lcfc and now probably dislikes us after we paid big money and then didn't play him, pretty sure he isn't a blue in his heart!
Babylon Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Why do people think he loves the club? Horse crap.
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 if he didnt love the club who would of requested to leave a long time ago instead of fighting for his place
Bugg Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Once a blue, always a blue? lol he supports Sunderland He couldn't give a shit about us, he only came here because he thought he'd get some playing time, but as soon as it was clear this wasn't the case he wants to leave (don't blame him on that part) Anyway, it's his fault completely by wasting almost every opportunity he had by either skying a shot or ****ing up a set piece.

You're right it's all his own doing, he can only have frustration towards himself because if he had played well he would of earned his place to start. Good luck to him anyway.
KARL-LCFC Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Sven Goran Eriksson has confirmed he is now prepared to let striker Martyn Waghorn leave Leicester City before the close of the transfer window. Waghorn has struggled to establish himself under Eriksson and has featured twice as a substitute in the Championship this season. He started the Carling Cup win at Rotherham United earlier this month, but was omitted from the squad for Tuesday's second round win at Bury. The former Sunderland youngster has been linked with Bristol City and Sheffield Wednesday, and Eriksson is unsure which club the 21-year-old will join. Frustrated "I really don't know which club Waggy will go to," the Foxes boss told the Leicester Mercury. "I had a chat with him a few days ago and we agreed he is free to find another club. "We really hope to take someone in but Waggy is in the same situation as last season when he didn't play regularly and he has started this season the same. "He needs to play football, if not his career will go backwards not forwards. "He wanted to leave three or four weeks ago and then we said 'no'. But, for his own sake, he needs to play. "I know he is frustrated, he is young and he wants to play." Sky SPorts

Bugg Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 I would have understood and England call up when he was doing well 2 seasons ago, but now? There must be a striker crisis or something going on for him to get a call up now.

There must be a striker crisis or something going on for him to get a call up now. Sven has called up his old pal Stuart Pearce and asked for a favour.. the favour was to call Waghorn up to the england squad, in doing this, Bristol city will happily give us Maynard in exchange for Waghorn. It's a conspiracy! 'Tis the only explanation
accessory Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 English football must be in deep trouble. Waggy deserved a call-up two seasons ago, but is nowhere near ready for one now. And Danny Welbeck should be playing for the full side.
Guest shearfox Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Don't won't Waggy to go now he is in the U21 squad! We can't let quality like that just leave.
Cropwellfox Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Crazy call up. Seems somehow befitting of the recent past of our club..... Years and years go by where we look enviously at England U21 strikers, at long last one of ours is named in the squad...less than 24 hours after our manager broadcasts to the world he's no longer being considered for selection as he is on his way out ....

wurmer Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Hes in the England U21 squad Staggeringly bizarre call up - gotta be a Sven 'favour' , otherwise the only conclusion that can be drawn is that Pearce has totally lost it.
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 I generally dont think Sunderland wanted to sell Waghorn, local lad and one for the future etc. But then we offered 2mil for him, which is crazy money and they had to accept to fund the Gyan deal. I personally dont think Sousa wanted him, it was just Milan Mandaric getting involved and 'sweetening' the fans because of our poor start. Sousa played him out on the wing were he scored 2 goals but he didnt last long and sven soon took charge and began his intake of pretty much a whole new squad. Ive got mixed feelings about him going. loved him in his first season here and when we signed him permanently i dont think i had ever been so happy about a signing. But i dont think hes good enough anymore and is so frustrating, every chance he's had since sven has been here he hasn't stepped up and shown hes good enough for a first team place. Wish him all the best but i know for a fact he will become the new 'max gradel or matty fryatt' and score for fun at his new club.
pSinatra Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 Could be a "Sven favour"......but could also be a favour to his old team-mate Nigel Clough??? If that shower of shite are reportedly interested & are reportedly prepared to pay £3m........it's going to take some effort to convince everyone he's worth that much!!!
Jaspa Posted 24 August 2011 Posted 24 August 2011 I think it could be more of a favour for Waggy. Sven probably feels bad for not really giving him a full opertunity here, given how much the fans love him and for what he was under Nige. Sven has probably rang Pearce up and told him to sneak him in to give him a chance. It could put more value on him head and Waggy gets to leave Sven and us on better terms. Happy Sven isn't going to just dump him, but give him some new hope.

MikeyT Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 Leicester City striker Martyn Waghorn has told manager Sven-Goran Eriksson he wants to leave the club. Eriksson said last night he will grant him his wish after the 22-year-old was omitted from the squad for the 4-2 Carling Cup win at Bury at Gigg Lane. However, Eriksson declined to comment on speculation that Waghorn could be the bait as part of an improved offer for Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard. Eriksson said: "I really don't know which club Waggy will go to. I had a chat with him a few days ago and we agreed he is free to find another club. "We really hope to take someone in but Waggy is in the same situation as last season when he didn't play regularly and he has started this season the same. "He needs to play football, if not his career will go backwards not forwards." Waghorn's shock announcement is a U-turn by the former Sunderland striker, who said two weeks ago he was ready to stay at the club and fight for a place. But Eriksson revealed: "He wanted to leave three or four weeks ago and then we said 'no'. But, for his own sake, he needs to play. "I know he is frustrated, he is young and he wants to play." Eriksson would not say if Waghorn would depart permanently or in a loan move before the closing of the transfer window. Waghorn has been mentioned as a potential target for Sheffield Wednesday. But the Mercury understands he is not the player Wednesday manager Gary Megson is pursuing. Eriksson was delighted with his side's showing at Gigg Lane where they recovered from 2-1 down to secure a 4-2 win and book a place in the third round of the competition. "It was very good to see us hit back away from home and win a difficult game," said Eriksson. "We should be proud and happy about the performance." Striker Jeffrey Schlupp was again on the score-sheet following his hat-trick in the first round at Rotherham and Eriksson added: "I think Jeff could have had another hat-trick but perhaps we ask too much of him. "He competed well with the two centre-halves and it is a good learning curve for him."
