The Doctor Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Why should your strikers play well when Eriksson is bringing in new strikers? You're havin a laugh aren't you? 1. The club are their employers and pay their wages - they have a duty to do their best 2. It's up to Waghorn to show Eriksson he doesn't need another striker 3. Taking awful set pieces is nothing to do with pressure, it's just poor technique. Yes Sunderland were laughing all the way to the bank - unfortunately whether you like Waghorn as a person, and I think that that is pretty much agreed, as a footballer he needs a fresh start elsewhere as he is nowhere near good enough for this league at present (PS I'm not sure Charlton would have him as he went their on loan before joining us and didn't score) to prove they should have a place in the team?
Simmo86 Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Waghorn could do well in a 4-4-2, but we all know he wont eb given the chance, especially a chance wher ehe can have 3/4 consecutive games. Problem is.......we can't play 4-4-2 until we sign a couple of decent wingers!
Jimmy Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 All this "he's playing out of position" talk, frankly is bullshit, When Pearson brought him in at the start we played 4-4-2 but by about November Pearson was using a 4-3-3 too and Waghorn was playing EXACTLY where he played last night from the right hand side. The simple fact is his development has stagnated, as a footballer, if Chrissy P wants a striker from us send Waghorn out on loan and see if that breaks him out of this atrocious form he's been in since he came back to the club. Also we can play 4-4-2 we'd just have to do it the same was as Norwich, with a diamond, which would work for us

He can be a force, but due to the lack of playing time, he can't get into gears. And please Sven, don't ever play him as a winger again. A loan to high-flying Charlton is a really good shout, somebody tell Sven to get Chrissy P on the line. Quick! A spell with such a team on a roll would do Waghorn more than just good.
yessae Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 This comment might rile up some of you but I find this thread laughable. Only a year ago, you were lauding Waghorn as a bargain at 2.75 M and one of the best at this level blah blah .. Now, with even more over priced and over rated players signed by Sven, you are thrashing him left right and centre. I know this is a fickle game but your lot takes the cake.

Hard to disagree with this - even if it is from a Leeds fan. He needs to go out on Loan to get some confidence - people think he needs games, well let him get them - but somewhere else.
cairnsy Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 From a Premier League club. So even if I rephrase - If he's so shit why was he at a Premier League club? - my point still stands. Ryan macgivern is shit and he's at man city, what's your point
MGLCFC Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Waghorn was a popular buy, but also a panic buy - We had just sold Campbell to Blackpool, Fryatt was peed off with Sousa and Mandaric could feel the air of uncertainty and discontentment amonst fans. Unfortunately, rather than a player progressing in his formative years as a professional, all I see in Waghorn is someone regressing. Watching him in warm up, he just doesn't seem to use this time to try and improve, he often meeses around trying to hit the cross bar and his shots in practice normally end up in row Z. Why does he try to blast everything? Lastly, and it's only an opinion, but he looks somewhat muscle bound this season which appears to be hindering his mobility.
yessae Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Hate to say this but with such a spirit and threshold, you'll find it hard to get going this year with an over inflated squad. I find this Leicester team to be the exact opposite in terms of morale and values to the one that Pearson got up impressively. With great money, comes obscurity and fickleness. It's not like Waghorn is like an Ormerod or a Billy Paynter, he certainly has ability and I am very surprised with the this treatment. We had a similar situation with McCormack, who didn't get going last year but we didn't turn on him and now he is our star player. Just saying ...
MC Prussian Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Ryan McGivern is shit and he's at man city, what's your point He's at Crystal Palace and doing rather well after the first three games. Just sayin'.
goose2010 Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Would have loved to have seen it mind, would be quite humorous. he about took her head off!!! was shooting into a open goal from about 12 yards out and missed (by a mile) and hit a girl about level with the 18yard box! was shocking! fair play to him for going into the crowd and seeing she was ok. waghorn = smallsy from mike bassett england manager!

She was sat a few rows behind me, she wasn't looking and hit her right in the back of her head! It took her off her feet! It wasn't funny at all! It could have caused some serious damage!
MGLCFC Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 I can't believe someone was so stupid as not to be looking when Waghorn is practising shooting - they must know by now that he's more chance of hitting someone in row Z than the net.
Filbert_Ross Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 She was sat a few rows behind me, she wasn't looking and hit her right in the back of her head! It took her off her feet! It wasn't funny at all! It could have caused some serious damage! come on, it must of been a bit funny.

ronnup Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 come on, it must of been a bit funny. I was just behind and thought it was brilliant.. Remember when Beckham smashed that lad in the face at Filbert street, he gave him his boots didn't he?

stourbridgefox Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 I was sitting upstairs in the bar at the cricket once, and someone hit a six. It looped high into the air in slow motion and with the certainty of a guided missile locked on to an old bloke sleeping in a deckchair over the members side. It struck him square on the forehead. He never knew what hit him. He did have to go to hospital in an ambulance though. That didn't stop me laughing !!!

It makes it worse that he had to go to hospital, I bet you would have felt real big if the old bloke passed away due to the blow to the head! Moron!

Moron! oh grow up, its human nature to laugh at that, same as if you see a fan celebrating that falls down over the seats, even though you know he could get hurt you still laugh. You don't wish harm on them but its still funny to see, stop being so bloody sensitive
Bausor Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Back to Charlton and Chris Powell, Hes been there on loan before knows the set up and the manager should score at that level and should regain some confidence back Loan untill January, When / If we get someonne else in..
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Until we buy a decent forward i would start playing Waggy from the start for us and see if 4 or 5 games in the team can get his confidence up and running?

Sorry if you feel i'm going a bit OTT. I'll drop it from now.
