The Doctor Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 My parents have booked next week off work for us to go away on holiday as a family since we didn't get a holiday in earlier in the summer. They've booked a camp site in Devon, staying there from this Sunday through to bank holiday Monday. I don't particularly enjoy camping (or the beach) and would rather stay here and go to the football. Do I go on holiday with them or explain that I'd rather not go and instead go the football next Saturday?
I am Rod Hull Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Devon is great... Go on holiday. Leicester are shite... Go on holiday.
MikeyT Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Agree with Hairy. Go off on Holiday, enjoy yourself and spend time with your family. Football will be there when you get back.
Libertine Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Only go if you're going to be into it and not constantly wishing you were back home. Stay Al, we need you.
AoWW Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Holiday. They've obviously gone to the effort to arrange it for the family and my guess is they'd be pretty disappointed if you pulled out (even if they acted like they were ok about it). It's not that long... man up... grit your teeth and try to enjoy it.
Walkers Wench Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Personally i cant say much coz my kids don't want to go on holiday next weekend either due to the fact that city are playing on the saturday and they have a football tournament on sunday!! I even said we'd go after the game on saturday but to no avail. Not interested. I've been dumped.
Marmite Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Were going away Friday until Monday over the bank holiday to wicksteed park in Northampton with the wife, kids and my brother and his wife and kid. Both me and my bro are season ticket holders and will be driving back on the saturday to watch the football, needless to say it went down like a lead balloon with the women. She said I care more about football than her, my reply was for once love you are right
Fox92 Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Devon is great... Go on holiday. Leicester are shite... Go on holiday. Best advice possible.
AndyElZorro Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Do you realize how much clunge there is at the campsite? I say get there, put on your wellies and get knee-deep in clunge and shout blue army when you blow a wad into the local concubines!
The Doctor Posted 19 August 2011 Author Posted 19 August 2011 Thank you to all those who replied. Filling in an accommodation application for University at the moment and it looks like I might have to stay behind because on the form it states: Correspondence will be via e-mail, please ensure your e-mail address is written clearly and accurately My phone is a basic call and text thing and I don't know whether the camp-site will have wi-fi (I highly doubt it though) so I'd need to stay within reach of my computer.

Swalker Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Go on holiday and take a radio to listen to 5 live and get the score
Daggers Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Go to Devon but don't go to Trago Mills or Bovey.
Alexikokopops Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Go to Devon but don't go to Trago Mills or Bovey. Don't go to Trago Mills????? I bought the novelisation of Snakes On A Plane for £1 at the Trago Mills in Liskeard! It's the greatest shop in the world!
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Oh, Devon for sure. Relax, and wind down. There is a long season ahead.
adam1 Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Don't go to Trago Mills????? I bought the novelisation of Snakes On A Plane for £1 at the Trago Mills in Liskeard! It's the greatest shop in the world! I've been to the one at Newton Abbott. Its a bit run down. Last time I went was a few years ago though. It used to be an attraction with rides and stuff but the last time I went everything was closed and it was in need of repair.
BoneDog Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Family holidays are to be cherished young man! Buy a swing-ball, get your trunks on and have a larrrrrf. And to put the icing on the cake, there could be a dancing Dad competition.

It used to be an attraction with rides and stuff but the last time I went everything was closed and it was in need of repair. I've only been to the Liskeard one. It was the first one and the guy who founded it stuck loads of statues up of people he didn't like. My uncle's brother was head of the Ironmongery association in the area so he got a statue of him for daring to say that Trago Mills could damage local businesses There was a massive fire at the Newton Abbot one about five or six years ago. HOW DO I KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT TRAGO MILLS???

Believe it or not, there are cybercafes in Devon. Do it for mom and pop, you probably won't get many more hols with them until you're the one taking them on hols. Devon is more than just beaches. Whatismore, if the kind of beaches you're familiar with are Skeggy, Mablethorpe and Hunstanton... they're sooo much better than them. You didn't say which part of Devon - it's a big place.

Exeter, and the beaches I'm familiar with are Cornwall/Devon.

Daggers Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Misery. Shopping was created just to make me suffer.
