best concert you have ever been to?

Recommended Posts

Morrissey at Rock City in 1999 was pretty amazing, and a Bruce Springsteen gig in Sheffield in 1988 was worth a mention too.

But for sheer atmosphere the One Big Sunday gig with 100000 at Vicky Park in 2001, the day after we stuffed Germany 5-1, has to be the top gig ever!

Meatloaf at NEC, Tina Turner at NEC.
I remember seeing Ike & tina Turner as a warm up band for the Rolling Stones at the Leicester Odeon. Meatloaf sat in front of me on a flight from Charlotte to Fort Lauderdale, very nice guy.

Top man in concert went to watch Orange Juice in Bristol in the 80's supported by Strawberry Switchblade and on numerous occasions when I was based in Scotland

Mean Fiddler had let all the previous sets over-run...so they tried to boot off Edwyn after a few songs. He decked one bouncer with his guitar as they tried to tug him off. The crowd then decided to take the marquee, rip it up and start again [© Disco Bob Quips ] For someone a tad effete, he rocked.

The Melkweg used to be one of my favourite European venues

Went there several times with various bands I was worked for - And made my live European debut there (Backing vocals on a Bad Beach song)

A few years later I got to play there with Extreme Noise Terror - When we left the Milky Way that night our van came under attack from a barrage of bottles thrown by drunken english football yobs

I reckon my Mrs went to that Stones concert as a teenager. I doubt they appeared in Leicester very often.

Actually it might have been the De Mont.

Thought I might resurrect this one instead of starting a new thread. These are the best of the concerts I have been to over many years.

  • Robert Plant & Jimmy Page, Walking into Clarkesville
  • Bob Dylan,
  • Bare Naked Ladies x 2
  • Dave Matthews x 2
  • Ray Charles x 4
  • Supertramp, Famous Last Words
  • Pink Floyd x 3
  • Duke Ellington
  • Eric Clapton x 4
  • Bryan Ferry, Bette Noire
  • Ringo & His All Star Band, 2001
  • The Who, Quadrophenia
  • Fleetwood Mac
  • Everly Brothers

Wow that's one awesome list. I have seen Dave Matthews (without his band) and he was awesome as were Barenaked Ladies. I'm desparate to see them again when they come back to England next year. Such a funny and unique band! Jason Mraz would be up there for me as one of the best I've seen as were the Rolling Stones last year at Fenway Park, Boston.
