funkyrobot Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Just watched the posh hammer Ipswich and I was really impressed with hatrick hero Lee Tomlin. I know he's a Leicester lad but on further wiki checking it turns out he was released by us at youth level! Seriously this lad has great technique and appears to be a premier league standard finisher. Serious youth system fail - we should bring him back home!

He had a decent game agreed. as far as being a premier league standard finisher i dont know how you came to that decision from this completely one sided performance. Ipswich were down to 9 for 45 minutes.
Bugg Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Maybe when he was released he didn't look like he was showing the ability that he has. There was probably reasoning for releasing him at the time.
funkyrobot Posted 20 August 2011 Author Posted 20 August 2011 They were 4-1 down before any player had been sent off and Tomlin had scored a cracking goal cutting inside the fullback and smashing it in the top corner. A goal that would've graced any premier league game.
funkyrobot Posted 20 August 2011 Author Posted 20 August 2011 Yeh. After one good performance. It's obvious when someone has some natural talent, and I think you'll find he's already a favourite with Posh fans after just one season with them.
Fox92 Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 It's obvious when someone has some natural talent, and I think you'll find he's already a favourite with Posh fans after just one season with them. I'm not doubting the lad, but if someone had 'natural talent', wouldn't they have played for better teams than Rushden, Brackley and Peterborough (no disrespect like). I might be wrong, we'll have to see him against Leicester won't we.
peterborofox Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Tomlin is not good enough to get any where near our team. And anyway, he has a family that look like a load of Gyppo's.
Tuna Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Youth system fail give me a fooking break. Yes he was released by us but so fooking what? He's not championship quality in the long term IMO and he's certainly no better than say, Franck moussa.
funkyrobot Posted 20 August 2011 Author Posted 20 August 2011 Have a fooking break tuna, feel free. He looks a lot better than the lads that have come through our youth system recently and showed more in those 90 mins than moussa has shown in his whole time at city
funkyrobot Posted 20 August 2011 Author Posted 20 August 2011 He looks better than King, Stearman and Gradel? Fair enough with gradel, King was a product of Chelsea youth, and Tomlin is definitely a better footballer than stearman.
EnglishOxide Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Tomlin is not good enough to get any where near our team. And anyway, he has a family that look like a load of Gyppo's. Yes to both points. He is a rat faced chav too.
Halfsy Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Fair enough with gradel, King was a product of Chelsea youth, and Tomlin is definitely a better footballer than stearman. In fairness, you are an absolute moron. King graduated from our academy into the first team, Stearman is now a Premier League defender and Max Gradel is starting for Leeds United. How can you judge one player after watching him 90 minutes, in a 7-1 against a side with 9-men?
accessory Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Yes to both points. He is a rat faced chav too. As well as a yob.. Despite today's result, Tomlin and the posh will still be returning to League 1 obscurity at the end of the season.
J.Lisemore Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 I'm not doubting the lad, but if someone had 'natural talent', wouldn't they have played for better teams than Rushden, Brackley and Peterborough (no disrespect like). I might be wrong, we'll have to see him against Leicester won't we. Ian Wright, Ian Rush, Chris Smalling, Les Ferdinand, Stuart Pearce, Kevin Phillips, Craig Mackail-Smith, Jermaine Beckford, Aaron Mclean, Michael Kightly, Carl Jenkinson...

I remember Elvis Hammond scoring a decent goal once.... Why Man Utd Never signed him up i never know... Have a fooking break tuna, feel free. He looks a lot better than the lads that have come through our youth system recently and showed more in those 90 mins than moussa has shown in his whole time at city Just to make sure..... you dont think Moussa came up through our youth system do you?
Corky Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Fair enough with gradel, King was a product of Chelsea youth, and Tomlin is definitely a better footballer than stearman.
Unabomber Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Yeh. After one good performance. tbf he has proved to be a very good player.
funkyrobot Posted 20 August 2011 Author Posted 20 August 2011 Halfsy you don't know me mate so don't call me a moron. It takes a brave person to insult via the Internet. The examples aren't recent youth products having graduated in the mid 2000's. King was originally at Chelsea. I personally don't think Stearman was great at City and he's not setting the premiership alight is he? Just because these three have graduated doesn't mean it wasn't a failure of the youth system to allow a talented footballer to leave City whatever people's opinions are of his upbringing, family etc. Watch the goals and tell me stearman could've done that
Bugg Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Watch the goals and tell me stearman could've done that Completely different players, It's like me saying that Messi is bad because he can't defend.

Stearman is a defender.
funkyrobot Posted 20 August 2011 Author Posted 20 August 2011 Mph I know moussa didn't come through city's youth system, I was responding to a specific reference to him from tuna.

Stearmans over head kick. Say no more.
Corky Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Stearman is a defender, who actually had a good eye for goal with us.
