Worst Moment As A City Fan

We did play them in cup semi final the weekend the Falklands conflict broke. Played at Villa Park we were second division at the time. I was there too but not really expecting to win so was good day out!

Yep! Sorry. Misread 81 for 61

Relegation to League 1 season of course, when McAuley hit the bar I thought it was meant to be, but indeed not I of course cried that day.

Also some of the younger players departing to different teams is always a bad moment, Matt Piper was an absolute gem then went Sunderland and had major injury problems.

And recent times seeing potential like Gradel depart and doing so well at another club, is a bad feeling.

Cardiff. Nothing will come close to that for a long long time IMO. The manner of the defeat, the pride I felt. I'm still not over it and won' tbe til we go up again. It wasn't just the fact that we'd lost in the semi, it was the fact I really believed that that game was our cup final (not blackpool, after beating them twice and they wouldn't have been able to play Campbell) It was also the fact it occured to me that that season was the best chance we'll have of going up for a while. Something I may or may not be proved wrong on.

When we lost 3-2 to Sheffield Wednesday at home before actually getting relegated was awful too.

Of course, the Sheffield Wednesday game when we went 1-0 then ended up losing 3-2 to almost guarantee relegation was a horrific moment as well.

It was 3-1.

That was a shite day out... Arrived late (no ale before game), we were crap, humid, got stuffed and all pubs shut on way home (no all day drinking back then)......

I remember 3 things from that game..

1. Dion Dublin...

2. while we were running to the ground, 2 kids saying we were 2-0 down ("fook off you little shits or you are going in the river")...

3. Some Cambridge spongers charity thing *throw coins at our blanket...

<_<

Good call. I was gutted when Matt Piper went. He would have been a hell of a player - what made it worse was that he was a Leicester boy who loved the club who really didn't want to leave - I remember him saying he wanted to continue progressing at City but the club had just been relegated and needed the £3.5 mill and he was sold. Sad day.

Esandoah and Wycombe at the time wouldn't seem like a 'worst moment' at the time but looking back at the end of that season it was clear of the effect it had on the team.

Relegation to league 1. In particular losing to Sheff Wednesday 1-3. A game in which two penalties were missed (Henderson the penalty saving expert).

Forest 5-1 (I was sat in the home end). Then taking 2 hours to drive back to my house in Nottingham (a 40minute walk) due to the ****ing edl.

Cardiff.

Administration - that was a bad time.

Getting my scarf nicked by a bunch of Swindon numpties on my very first away trip with City (1970). Bastards! Made slightly better by us taking their kop and serenading Lenny Glover at the train station after the match as he was off to get married!

Those were the days......
