Amin Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 The week where we lost to Forest 5-1 and then lost to Bristol 3-1. Very similar to last week actually.
Guest Col city fan Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 This ones easy.. Getting back to three each in the play off final against Swindon only to concede a penalty to yet another iffy ref decision (yes they were shit back then too) I was there with mi dad, god rest his soul, and the joy turned to sorrow very quickly
stockyfox Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 To be a Leicester fan is akin to taking a permanent ride on the Big Dipper - one week you are on the crest of the wave, next you are plunging the depths of despair. My worst moment? Actually, three! All involving Man Utd. 1.Total disbelief and bewilderment at losing the 1963 Cup Final 2. March 17th 1969 losing 3-2 at Old Trafford and being relegated as a result 3. The shock on receiving the news of the Man Utd air disaster just five weeks after we had played them at Old Trafford.

Certainly puts a dodgy chipped penalty into perspective
samjohnson Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 Standing on a stand in Stoke, watching 3/4 of the ground celebrate and invade the pitch as we all stood their coming to terms that we would be watching 3rd tier football for the first time in our history. Realising that the 2 teams I had just watched would be playing 2 divisions apart and yet we had our chances to survive. It was one of the hardest and most frustrating moments as a Leicester fan.
Brown Fox Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 The Cardiff game was horrendous. Took me weeks to get over that. Also the Wycombe game as well. Even worse in hindsight because that was the game that basically signalled our demise over the next 10 years.
Kitchandro Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 Sheffield Wednesday at home. We'd won at Barnsley the week before (I think) and I remember the line being thrown around was 'Leicester beat Sheffield Wednesday next week and they survive'. I felt we were going to be safe when I thought about that. Was an amazing atmosphere at the match and we scored quite early on, massive relief around the ground and we all thought we'd do it. Then it was just disaster after disaster for the rest of the game. Horrible feeling when they scored their 3rd. It was painful viewing the Stoke match on TV but I could see early on that we were never going to do it, with Barry wearing led boots. I felt a lot of pride after the Cardiff one so that wasn't as bad, and there were plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the future at that point, unlike when we got relegated. I can't remember the Wycombe FA Cup match but I can imagine that would be up there if I could, I even cringe every time it's mentioned. It wouldn't be such an embarrassment if we had actually won the bloody thing once.

Jimothy Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 I've always thought that our defeat to Wycombe was the beginning of the fall. It was. We'd beaten Liverpool the previous weekend. After Wycombe we went on a 9 defeats in 10 game run to the end of the season.
Donut Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 I've always thought that our defeat to Wycombe was the beginning of the fall. It was. We lost just about every other game Peter Taylor managed in..........Didnt get much better under Harry either. It was. We'd beaten Liverpool the previous weekend. After Wycombe we went on a 9 defeats in 10 game run to the end of the season. Beat me to it there bud
CKB Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 Blackburn, Play-Off Final defeat Swindon, Play-Off Final defeat Tottenham, League Cup Final defeat Wycombe, FA Cup defeat Stoke game when it was bye, bye Championship and hello League 1 for the very first time Wolves, 3-0 up and lost 4-3 Newcastle, 3-1 up and losing 4-3 Portsmouth 6-1 thrashing Forest 5-1 thrashing Some of them i was younger so i didn't feel as much pain, but most i was at the age where it would take me a good day to get over it haha
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 Wycombe. yep Wycombe from normal teams but any defeat to the red scum is ultimately the worst
Yojoe36 Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 Probably the play-off game against Cardiff. The pub where I was watching it just went completely dead when Waghorn missed his penalty. At half-time, it was buzzing. Going 2-0 down then bringing it back. F*** me Relegation by Stoke was also another. Will never forget it unfortuntley
deanolegend1989 Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 In reverse order: At 5: Bolton 5-0 At Filbert. I was just getting to the age where I supported them properly and Id been scared all summer after the disastourous end to the previous season thats 01/02 would end in relegation and the 0-5 reverse made me certain of the inevitable! At 4: QPR 3-2 Leicester. First season of our drub era(04-05)..and my first ever away game I attended. We go 2-0 up and perform brilliantly in the first half including a David Connolly belter. Then 2nd half we capitulate and lose 3 late goals to a bouncing loftus road and pigbag chanting out! SICK! At 3: Either Wolves 4-3 or Boro 3-3(3-1 up at 90th minute) - Well this season we had constantly conceded late goals but these 2 took the buscuit! it was almost on cue that a 90th minute goal would ruin us this season..these 2 were even more specifically painful! At 2: The entire Sousa reign - Absolutely discusting..so disapointed and shocked after such a good 2 years under Pearson...was a horrid feeling before each game knowing a loss was on the cards(when Lawrence smashed in a free kick to put Pompy 2-0 up I turned the game off and went to bed to find in morning 6-1) I never fail to watch a game so thats how much Id took! . At 1: Relegation..pretty obvious? but yeh 3rd league of English football is not where a club of our stature should be! Personally although sad when we were relegated I remember saying "Maybe its for the best" as we could regroup start again and push back on(was proved right). The fear of not getting promoted never really materelised as we started like a train but it was still a worry through the summer! However it turned out the best season in years as IMO 04-05,05-06,06-07 and 07-08 were the worst 4 years of the clubs history! so dull and samey the entire time! excitement for a season 4-1 hammering away at Sheffield Utd..then again 2-0 away at Luton etc etc..just the 04-08 era for me is the actual number 1!
Raj Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 Stoke away (relegation) Wycombe(the start of our demise) cardiff p/off(Kermos pen)
Simmo86 Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 Wycombe - Nothing will come close to how shit I felt after that!
somebum Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 Newcastle 4-3 Leicester when City had gone 3-1 up. Shearer hat trick, I felt pig sick
Nick Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 Newcastle 4-3 Leicester when City had gone 3-1 up. Shearer hat trick, I felt pig sick Oh this, I watched it amongst Newcastle fans wearing my Leicester shirt in a bar in Wales - he scored three inside 13 mins wasn't it - one of the fastest hatricks in Prem history. Next was being relegated whilst on holiday. Finally got the Arsenal game off the tele which was hardly being watched by the Arsenal supporters in the pub to watch things twist and change. Sick to the pit of my heart, I then had to be around non-footballing people for the rest of the day - limited empathy and understanding. I made a decision to drink my bodyweight in gin.
stripeyfox Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 Never felt as gutted as I did when we lost the FA Cup replay at Stamford Bridge when Leboeuf scored the last minute of extra time penalty after Erland Johnsen's dive. I knew then that no defeat would ever hurt that much again.
RumbleFox Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 The most recent always seems the worst. Right now I am still in pain from Saturday. As soon as Weale jumped you just felt it didn't you? We all knew what was going to happen. I feel ill. Apart from that relegation obviously but also any defeat against Derby! I was born and bred in Burton on Trent so every twot supported the Rams so a loss was very, very painful. Rams-Foxes, still always the biggest game of the season for me. X
lovelcfc Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 Relagation to league 1 one of the worst feelings ive ever had
Callabinho Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 A few! Relegation to league one, mainly because every one I new hated Leicester and were loving the fact we went down (despite them all being from Leicester themselves), My first ever game when we lost to Wimbledon 2-1 I think can't remember the year 96/97 possibly? But that was horrible! And every forest away game!
I am Rod Hull Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 Wycombe - Nothing will come close to how shit I felt after that! This by far....
Bellend Sebastian Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 I always find the games when we're in a strong position and then lose the worst. It's about expectation - when we've been relegated or whatever we've been shit anyway and I've got used to the idea of failing by the time the horrible reality unfolds infront of you. I was more annoyed on Saturday than I've been for ages. I thought and hoped I'd grown out of being upset by football
