GianEmmo Zola Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 Fantastic player for us, think he needs a chant. I predict darius, i predict darius....
Guest ttfn Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 Vassell's "touch and dribbling" is woeful. He plays football like I would if I had pace. Head down, desperately trying to control the ball, running in to blind alleys. All that said, I think he's alright and a decent versatile forward at this level.
Father Ted Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 Hes overrated, his goals scored and assisted stats speak for themselves. Hes what is commonly known as a headless chicken.
LilMissFox Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 i reckon vassell is overrated (sorry) but I don't see what's so great about him we have plenty players better than him, unless he starts showing his so called talents he'll always jus be an overrated player
Austin Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 Got a lot of time for DazVass .. Really like the lad, think him and Beckford would be good up top together. As for a chant .. Ohh Vassell is a black man He wears a fitted cap He lives next door to Beckford And he lives in a council flat He skins them with his left foot He skins them with his right And we play at your ground he runs all ****ing night! Pretty shocking but best I could come up with. Before the PC Police get overly sensitive about the fitted cap bit, it's tongue in cheek and in no way racist.
shailen Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 How is he overated, hes a tidy player on the ball...great pace, good finisher, tireless worker...hes great for our team. Hes the only player in our team who has genuine trickery, although i admit he doesnt take the best option all the time.
The Doctor Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 Fantastic player for us, think he needs a chant. Leicester's Got Darius, Leicester's Got Darius x 3 [stuff relating to beer I can't remember] Leicester's Got Darius.... and so on. Possibly invented by Bilo although I'm damned if I can remember exactly who it was.
B52 Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 Hes overrated, his goals scored and assisted stats speak for themselves. Hes what is commonly known as a headless chicken. Nahhh, a headless chicken is another thing..... Vassell is a divertion and essential in that role. A headless chicken runs and runs and don't affect the play as Vassell does. Vassell gives the midfield chance to score and it's his mayor purpose and it's always has been his mayor purpose.. Take a bow for Mr. divertion Vassell. If you don't get it you don't get it... Seriously, Vassell get the defenders busy but Vassell isn't there to score or get assist. He has a sole purpose of getting other players in scoring oppurtunities. I said it the day he signed. He doesn't score but he gives the oppurtunities for othes to score. Very importent in my view.

He's the only player we've got who actually has a bit of skill to beat a man, don't know what you've been watching. He made the second goal at Forest by taking on 3 players before playing Danns in
Uncle Monty Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 A good topic to start, seems that nobody really talks about him, but now there is a new solution doggy denta stix.
shailen Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 Vassell is in the first team for me...especially since we have no better wingers or wide men IMO
Kitchandro Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 He's the only player we've got who actually has a bit of skill to beat a man, don't know what you've been watching. He made the second goal at Forest by taking on 3 players before playing Danns in Well I don't know what you've been watching because that is most certainly not true. And whilst he does have the skill and pace to beat a man, he too often picks the 5 yard pass option, slowing the move down.
Corky Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 I've been impressed with him, didn't think he would be that good when he signed but he's proved me wrong.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 I think he's under-rated because people think that forward=goal scorer, which isn't true. That's not Vassells game. For me he IS a nailed on starter.

He's one of our best players on the ball.
accessory Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 Vassell was decent in his days at Villa Park and occasionally at Man City too. But these days he should be little more than a Championship squad player. How much interest would there have been if he had been offered out on loan to other clubs? A scoring record of one goal every NINE games (worse than Elvis Hammond) is not good enough for a side with promotion ambitions. It's not as if he creates a shedload of assists in compensation. He's clearly a Sven favourite, but after ten months (and a mere five goals) at our club, it remains unclear to many of us what Vassell contributes to the side that the likes of Fryatt or Waghorn could not.

Pace and ball retention, two things those mentioned do not have.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 He's not a goalscorer, but he's an intelligent player who creates space around the pitch. People really should look at more than just the person who has the ball.
smokey Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 Overated. Unless you've lost the corner-flag, he can sniff one out from a long way away, no matter how many opposition players are surrounding him. Agree, Overated! - Squad player at best! If we sign anyone else striker wise like Maynard in Jan he wont get a look in!
MGLCFC Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 Beardsley wasn't a great goalscorer but created a lot of space for Lineker. We are far more balanced when Vassell plays.
Guest ttfn Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 Mate you having a laugh? He's one of our best players on the ball. What I see is a guy who runs with his head down, desperately trying to control the ball. Occasionally he'll beat a man by bundling through them, but I wouldn't say it's with any regularity. He set up King's goal against Forest at home last year in precisely that style. Classic Darius in my opinion. For the record, I would rate the following players ahead of Vassell on the ball (in no particular order): Wellens King Gallagher Danns Bamba and possibly Lloyd Dyer, although he has a similar ungainly style.
Lambert09 Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 He is currently my favourite Leicester player just a tad in front of kasper, I think if anyone else had got sent off against cov I would have gone mental, I forgave Vas before he stepped off the pitch. Sad that its only a matter of time before he gets forced out though.
Guest shearfox Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 These fans certainly don't underrate him. God knows what would happen if they signed Messi....
