Is anyone else worried about the new rules for next year that all football league clubs will only be allowed to carry a debt as a percentage of turnover.I know the exact amounts have not yet been agreed but with our huge wage bill we will def have a problem.None compliance will result in fines and points deduction.I think we have so far not planned for this because the owners expect us to be promoted, but what if we donot, .I think it will mean we will to sell players like Nugent etc.The Forest chairman said recently that is why they are being careful in the transfer market,he went on to say Leicester donot appear to have received the memo.We MUST not bury our heads in the sand!!!!!!!!!

Our new owners are successful businessmen. I really don't think that they're so stupid that they don't know about this and don't have plans in place.

Being that they sponsor our shirts and stadium, i can see them giving us alot more money that way like Man City have. A huge shirt sponsorship deal that would be worth the money they were going to put in the club for player ect. I dont know, just thinking out load. Like it has been said they are shrewd business men so will have a trick or two up their sleeves im sure.

Yes, I hope so too but what if we donot get promotion ?The fines, transfer embargo, and points deduction for none compliance mean we have to have a plan B. The plan at present is to levy fines at £1 for every £1 of debt are we certain our investors are willing to sustain that level of fines, I have donot think so. If the only answer is promotion THIS year we are taking an huge gamble with the future of our great football club!

I should also say that i e-mailed Stringer about this to see if he would put it to the club , but he failed to reply, which is also odd because he usually does!!!!

Wasn't it the new owners that signed on to this agreement anyway?

To say they don't have plans in place seems a bit naive. Given the fact they run a huge and successful empire that is King Power I think it's fair to say they know what they're doing.

They have also put one of their most successful Chief Execs into LCFC to work on increased revenues and profits. They have said previously that they want the club to become self sufficient as well if I'm not mistaken.

Granted, a lot of this would be easier given promotion but I won't feel worried if we didn't go up this year.

But then it could just be me being optimistic :D

not worried at all we have a much promising future than other clubs our size right now, our sponsorship rights are very secure and be increased whenever it is required and the club is looking to bring in increased revenue from thai tv rights and support, most football teams make a loss we lost 7.5 million last season before we made any big signings and lost around 14 million the season we were in league 1 with milan its clubs the size of ours without extra revenue coming in that will struggle I think

That is why we have a flexible sponsorship with king power, it gets around the problem ( man city have done the same thing)

I'm sure the club is aware of the changes and are doing things to ensure we aren't caught out.

The owners have done very well in business so they must have some nous.

Can I just point out that the chief executive (Whelan I think) said we were moving to become self-sufficient - i.e. we would be able to cover debts with turnover and not fall foul of these rulings.

She actually said 3-4 years. I'd love to know how on the current wage structure we are planning to achieve this, I hope its not a case of retail people coming into football and not quite having the experience to achieve it ala Mike Ashley.

I'm all for the rules anyway, the game does need making fairer, it's shame it wasnt intrduced a while ago though, teams like Man Utd, Everton should never have been allowed to be spending £10-20million on players while being millions in debt like Kenright and Red football inc are. Same as a team shouldnt allowed to be bankrolled like Chelsea and Man City. They should have * next to anything they won like homerun sluggers do caught with steroids.

If they try and get round it by using stadium naming rights etc etc I hope FIFA and UEFA investigate and stop it before it becomes another way to cheat ways round rules, be it Leicester, Man City, Forest or whoever.......

(Man City's is under investigation from UEFA already)

Im sure the owners know what they are doing considering they have a company worth £4billion

4 billion?????? Where on earth have you got that from?

Ive seen it numerous times on different articles across the web

Post a couple, there is no way in a million years they are worth anywhere near that.

Clubs will have had accountants looking at the rules ever since they came out. Just like other big businesses, I'm sure in the short term they will find ways to bend the rules. What happens in the long term is less clear.

I too am in favour of the rules. Rivalries aside, the game will be in big trouble if clubs continue to operate as they have done for much longer. I'm just glad we got a big cash injection before the rules come into force, which should give us the edge over other clubs in the division for the next couple of seasons if the money is invested well in long-term revenue-increasing projects (like infrastructure, raising the profile of the club, development, etc.)

They are successful enough as businessmen to have made provisions for this! As for the 4billion remark, if you do some research(not just the internet) it is close to this mark, although nothing is confirmed. 113m is certainly incorrect

I've not really looked too much into this but surely if it comes into force from next season then it will have to be a gradual step. Contracts have been signed and need to be adhered to. Players wouldn't of signed for us this summer if ffp was going to be a problem next season if we don't go up. Surely contracts have to be run down and any new contracts adhere to the rules once they come in. :dunno:

short space of time sponsorship deals with gatorade, air asia and shanga beer! tv revenue over in thailand! turnover is always being increased along a new kit deal with someone like umbro should be on the cards! along with premiership football! we'll be fine!
