MikeyT Posted 10 September 2011 Posted 10 September 2011 10 years have passed since we saw those horrific images on our television screens of a day that will never be forgotten. To all the people that lost their lives that day: Passengers on the planes, workers in the towers, firefighters, police officers, emergency service personnel...everyone. The world is united today in sadness. May all those people r.i.p. You will never be forgotten.
MC Prussian Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 In remembrance of all the people that lost their lives for nothing.
Bert Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 As well as all the soldiers that have lost their lives, because for me the attacks on the Towers started the wars in The middle east which lead to the deployment of troops out thee.
Mack Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 I've got to say I'm fed up with all the programmes on TV about it for the past fortnight. Yes I know if you don't want to watch switch over blah blah, but when you are trying to get some news and all you can get is 9/11 this that and the other it gets frustrating. RIP all those who died. I flicked over to the news a couple of days ago and an American lady (no idea who she was) made the only worthy point I have heard in all this morbid programming.... "9/11 made American realise there is a World beyond our shores. We could no longer be so insular." Most who went to the states in the 80' and 90's will tell you... you could be there for weeks and never hear or see a single thing about anything beyond the shores of the USA. That was unhealthy for Americans and the wider World. Such a shame it took something so horrifically violent to awaken what was the World's biggest power. The power now lies in Asia, American terrorists blowing up far east targets in 50 years time? Who knows?
Fox92 Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Terrorists will never stop, but is 9/11 as big as it is going to get? Horrible. Horrible photos and videos. I couldn't imagine being on one of the aircrafts that struck a building. Horrible, sick, no word describes it. Rest in Peace. And let God be with America on this sad day.
Fox92 Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Timeline of today here http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/september-11-attacks/8755389/911-anniversary-live.html Look at one of the photos. In London, some people are burning an American flag. Thats horrible and sick. If I was King, they would be up for torture.
sven-your-smiling Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 i will always remember CCTV footage in the twin towers where workers were running DOWN the stairs and fireman were running UP the stairs. couldnt get that image out of my head for days. R.I.P
Jordan Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 If you don't know the story of Fr. Mychal Judge--Victim 0001 of 9/11--please take a few minutes to learn about his life and death. Now, despite strong Roman Catholic leanings in half of my family, I really have no care whatsoever for religion. But every time I read about Father Judge, I well up a bit. I think he's a hero every much as all of the first responders on 9/11. That was something about 9/11, though--as bad as it was, everybody in this country came together for a little while. It felt like we were all willing to lend a helping hand, a patient ear, and a hug to anyone that needed either. No matter what or who you were, whether you were a stranger or a neighbor, no matter anything. I don't know what's happened to us since. --- I was in a class in college far away from home when the attacks occurred, and I had absolutely no idea what was going on. So, after class, I walked right out and went to a soccer store to buy new boots. There was a television in the store, and I noticed something strange showing on it out of the corner of my eye when I went to pay. I asked the clerk, "What's going on in New York?" And he just said, "The Twin Towers are gone." With that, I focused on the television and saw a replay of the World Trade Center towers collapsing... and I couldn't believe such horror. I sprinted back to my dorm. --- It wasn't long after the reality of the attacks set in that I learned that members of the FDNY and NYPD had rushed to the scene when the planes struck, and that many were dead. I thought of one uncle, a New York City police officer, perhaps the bravest man I know. And since Staten Island is near lower Manhattan, I thought--and especially feared--for another uncle, a New York City firefighter, as SI firefighters must have been among the first to get to the Towers. I spent all day checking the news and making phone calls to try to find out any information about them, and nobody in my family knew what was going on. It wasn't until after midnight that either of them had contacted my family to let us all know they were OK as they had worked non-stop, tirelessly, at Ground Zero since the moment they were told of the attacks. I can't tell you how relieved I was. They both worked in the rescue and recovery operations for a long time. It wasn't until maybe a year after those operations had ended that my uncle, the police officer, showed me a photo album full of scenes from the destruction that he and his peers were able to shoot when they had off time, and when it was safe. It was incredible, that months after the attacks, the wreckage was still hellish. There were even some photos towards the end of celebrities and politicians that have come to lend support and boost morale for him and his peers, but even during those shots, nobody is smiling, and my uncle and the other first responders all have the thousand-yard-stare. He doesn't take that photo album out much. --- These last words are for P.O. Vinny Danz, my dad's old partner on the beat.

Fox92 Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Oh, the irony... And? They shouldn't do stuff like that. They walk into our country and constantly perform acts like this, for instance, the poppy burning, but no action is taken. Just a slap on the wrist and 'oh dont do it again'. If we went into their country and commited an act, we'd have our hands chopped off.

Rincewind Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 trouble with irony some people dont see the irony in it.

These people are pretty much universally agreed to be arseholes by every community. The overwhelming majority of Muslims consider them a complete fucking embarrassment to their faith. The fact that Anjem Choudary is the 'face' of their group with no scholarly qualifications in the Qu'ran or Islam whatsoever and is therefore taken apart easily by any good Imam pretty much sums them up. Think of them as an Islamist EDL with the same ignorance and laughable stupidity and you're spot on. And? I'm glad we're nothing like Saudi Arabia or Iran then, why hand them the moral high ground. Let them air their views in public because they're inevitably torn to pieces and humiliated by anyone who knows their onions anyway.
Guest Bilo Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Oh, and RIP to the innocent victims of 9/11 and all the wars, terror attacks and murders that have taken place as a direct result of that terrible day. A real moment where you will never forget where you were while the terrible events were happening.
acooling08 Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Would be brilliant if the EDL and muslims all killed each other, Lock stock style. Everybody wins. Oh and just my opinion: Every single muslim who took part in those demonstrations should have all English citizenship stripped from them and be deported. If they were born in the UK (sadly) then remove all benfits for life and 25 years in prison. EDIT: **** me, I feel sick watching those rag head cvnts outside the US embassy. If I was a cop, I wouldn't be able to resist going in truncheon first.

Why does our government even allow tossers like this to protest? Truly shocking, just as bad as the poppy burning imo... I bet they're the first to criticise the 'EDL' and call them racist (which they are), but talk about being hypocritical. This just gives them yet more fuel to use; another excuse to use, even though it's a minority of Asians. Absolutely disgusted at this yet another disgrace of an act... love to see these sub-human scum get absolutely battered; don't think anyone would complain if this happened. Just as bad as the EDL, complete hypocrites.
acooling08 Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Totally inappropriate for this thread. Well I think everyone gave their greatest condolances after the event occured. I think too bigger a deal is being made over the anniversary to be honest, all it does is brings 9/11 back into the spotlight and makes it harder for berieved families to move on.

What utter disrespectful bollocks. I can't imagine for one moment what the families of the bereaved have been through but i'm pretty sure of one thing, that they would wish for those they lost to be be remembered and all due respects paid, not just 10 years on but forevermore. Do you think we should stop honouring those lost in the World wars just because 'it was a long time ago'?

Do you think we should stop honouring those lost in the World wars just because 'it was a long time ago'? I think we still remember those who thought in the Wars because of the courage and bravery they displayed, putting their lives of the line, in a global conflict that claimed the lives of 60 million people. I'm not trying to undermime the loss of the Americans on 9/11, but there was no great sacrifice or honour to be remembered, just a terrible tragedy. The deaths in both wars undoubtedly impacted the shape of the modern world today and therefore carries more importance imo. I would liken 9/11 to something similar to victims of hurricanes and tsunamis. It just seems different to me somehow. Sorry but that's just my opinion.
