swiggyfox83 Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 Say what you like about the News of The World but their football coverage was spot on (most of the time). Now i gave the Sunday People a chance today and what a joke of a report it is, apparently a reporter named Janine Self was at the King Power Stadium yesterday. However, on reading the report i'd have to dispute whether she was really there or not. A few things that annoyed me: The Title - Yuki Foxes Takeaway - (yes we have a japanese player, any need for that title?) Vassell 6 out of 10??? A solid 8 in my books Konchesky with the cross for Abe's goal? It looked like Darius Vassell to me. How you get that wrong i dont know! Sunday Mirror for me next week im afraid

Sunday Mirror for me next week im afraid The Star report was no better either. The media hate us, because we`ve spent some money , and have got sven as manager. There`s nothing they would like more, than for us to fail, and sven to be sacked, thats the way they roll. Don`t worry about it though, just jump on to our very own Leicester City roller coaster, and hopefully come may, we can get off, with a smile on our face, and two fingers stuck up to the media and the doubters!
Jimmy Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 I've never heard of a Japanese takeaway TBH? How about you try a proper paper... Times, Telegraph or *shudder* the Guardian... bit difficult on a Sunday... That'll be just as bad. trust me it was, read that, the people and the Star at work Star was the best but still poor
The Year Of The Fox Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 bit difficult on a Sunday... it was, read that, the people and the Star at work Star was the best but still poor got any links? im idle day

Thracian Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 Janine Self goes back almost as far as The Titanic so she's not got the excuse of being a nervy novice. It does reflect the shoddy standards now though. Yes, there's always uncertainties over identities in the Press Box but, being journalists and, by definition, people who are paid to ask questions, most at least have the gumption to check if they're not sure. As for her 6/10 rating for Darius I accept that these things are all about opinion but I'd have still liked to hear an explanation. And I doubt she'd have written the headline, that's usually done by a weekend shift worker earning a few extra sheck les. There have been good women sports writers of course. And, over the rest of the week, I'll try to think of one! http://www.sportsjournalists.co.uk/sports-digest/sports-journalism-womens-final-frontier/
foxoffderby Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 That's her. Im sure she worked for the Sun in the past and has covered Midlands football for many years I can remember her since the O'Neil years at the very least. Quite surprised she got it so wrong and that title 'takeaway' is horrible.
Phube Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 bit difficult on a Sunday... The Observer, I mean....
FoxyPV Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 There was a three paragraph report on our match with Birghton in the Guardian online - that's amazing for a non PL english match!!
Vlad the Fox Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 Decent report in the mail. May I add that my dad bought the paper.

Webbo Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 Have u got a link? Sven Goran Eriksson spoke of his relief after Leicester had conjured up their best performance of the season to knock Brighton off the top.Leicester’s costly team dominated throughout against previously unbeaten Brighton and deserved more than their 46th-minute winner, which came when Japan midfielder Yuki Abe headed home an accurate Darius Vassell cross. The Year Of The Fox Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 Refreshing to read an accurate report for once
Corky Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 The Football League Paper last week gave Kasper the same rating as Pantsil. It does make you wonder at times.
bluesbrothers Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 Well, i knew before even clicking on this thread that it would be reporting on shoddy journalism. Frankly, i'm beyond caring what any of the "Red Top Rags" in our country say about us. At least in other papers, tabloid or broadsheet, you're likely to get a decent report. In fact, at the moment i'm more interested to see how the media in the Far East reported on the game after the responce to the Ipswich game last year and Abe's goal.
Blue Bob Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 There was a rumour the Sun was going to be printed 7 days a week - heres hoping eh??
accessory Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 There was a rumour the Sun was going to be printed 7 days a week - heres hoping eh?? The NotW was shut down for a reason, as Sven among others would confirm. That reason would still apply to any would-be successor, whether it's called the "Sun on Sunday" or some other title.

That reason would still apply to any would-be successor, whether it's called the "Sun on Sunday" or some other title. it was shut down because their advertisers ran off, Sun on Sunday would get them back... Haven't heard anything yet but expecting something to change at work (not sure if a new sunday NI paper) in the next 5 weeks or so as someone who lost a round when the NOTW went was told "you'll be sorted in 5 weeks"
