stockyfox Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Wow! What a mixture of views! First of all, can we all agree that today, we won nil-nil. Secondly, I am most puzzled as to why Alan Young gave his MOTM award to Andy King and why SKY gave theirs to Gerrard. Yes, Matt Mills played well and I did admire the overall resilience of the Defence but for me,my MOTM was again Sol Bamba. Several posts have listed positives and negatives whereas I would prefer to list 'positives' and 'topics for review'. So important positives: 1. We kept a clean sheet. 2. We retained our 'undefeated away in the league this season' record. 3. We spoilt Cardiff's home record of having scored in every home game to date. 4. We stopped Earnshaw from scoring –(Remember the 5-1 defeat at Forest!) 5. We got a point. 6. We had about 75% of the possession. 7. We gave notice to the rest of the Championship that we are back in business for real. Topics for review: 1. Jermaine Beckford – Who is our Becchio? Do we need to buy him in January or have we someone in the present squad who can fill that role? 2. The diamond – would Johnson be a better choice at the back? 3. 4-4-2 / 4-3-3 / 4-5-1 We played well today. Of course, it was disappointing that we didn't score but that's football. To those who are critical of Sven. You are entitled to your opinion but do you know of anyone better and available. The last thing we need is a change of manager. To me, such posts are negative, destructive and unhelpful. Similarly, also are those posts which rubbish the way we have played–our style. If that's how you feel, and don't / won't / can't make sensible constructive suggestions as to what you would prefer, then might you enjoy the game rather more if you transferred your allegiance to another club? Genuine City /Foxes fans always look for the silver lining. Yes, we get frustrated and annoyed but whatever, we hang in there and we'll be there when the 'Blues go marching in'! United we stand, divided we fall!

(Levein, Holloway, Megson, Worthington) 3) Genuine City fans love the club and want what is best. People discuss their concerns and are not blinded by loyalty to the club which would actually be detrimental to the club.
Guest Col city fan Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Thanks for the summary, but to say that none of us can question Sven or criticise because we'd be better off supporting someone else if we do is nonsense. I've been trying to make this point ever since I joined the forum. There is literally no point in having a forum like this if everyone was going to agree about everything. Sure, there are those who try to put people down and to dismiss them if they don't 'toe the party line'.. But the debate, the analysis, the argument is the essence of a forum such as this. Just because people say that Sven may have got something wrong, don't automatically mean that they want him sacked.. Just that they don't agree with what he has done over that particular issue. The debate IS the forum.. It would be a boring old place if we all kissed Svens bottom or if we all hated him... I said this last season... 'neither a Sven bummer nor a Sven lover be'... Because to be one or the other will cloud your opinion disproportionately. Just analyse the games and then try to be balanced. By the way 'stocky fox'... I reckon it was 'united we fell' under Holloway.. The inability of most on here to see that we were actually gonna go down was scary and when reality hit, it sure hurt....

Secondly, I would in no way regard Sven as a 'Clown' Thirdly, I welcome constructive discussion on any topic concerning LCFC. I have little time for those who make scathing generalised comments but offer no alternative suggestions.

harwich fox Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Bit like my point Stocky Cloughie jnr i,e,sticking with the manager NB How nice to be on a board that talks about football!!

Far from it CCF, I have no objection to dissent but I do wish folks would outline their reasons for being so damming. They may well have a valid point but if they don't say why. how can we evaluate the strength of their views.

I'd like to see how he works with Nugent. 2. No, Fernandes in there, Johnson at the tip for the time being. 3. 4-4-2.
Fox92 Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 I thought the result was a good one. When I looked at the fixtures at the start of the season, games like Cardiff away are games that I would take a point from. Yes, we had a number of chances, including hitting the woodwork, but in my opinion 0-0 is a good result.
Phube Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Yep Holloway would have been crap! He fell out of the business when we sacked him!
dpjfox Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 For all those who slagged off Mills earlier in the season, what do u think of him now? he was immense, defence looked solid (Peltier proof that there are good lower league players), our midfield was too easily nulified, Beckford was a dissappointment but im not going to judge him until hes played a few games alongside Nugent id take 0-0 on wednesday!

Tielemans63 Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 All this talk of Beckford being a flop is really pissing me off. The guys played 2 fvcking games and in one he played well (IMHO) and in today's game he had absolutely no service whatsoever. 2 fvcking games!

Its nice to know people are consistent in their opinions.... Ridiculous
phildw Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Anybody who says they were satisfied with Beckfords effort today needs to have a serious word with themselves. Service or no service his whole demeanour during the game was shameful. Take a look a Craig Mackail-Smiths performance for Brighton against Leeds (apart from his 2 fantastic quality goals) his whole approach to the game and his team mates was outstanding. Only 2 games for Beckford or not, the club his team mates or the fans don't deserve a non-performance like that shambles today.

Agree with you entirely over CMS... hes the 'one that got away'..his attitude to the game is exemplary - but you miss my point... only a couple of weeks ago Beckford was being hailed as our 20 goal a season man...today he's being abused. There's no consistency of opinion and views change with the wind. I said right from the start that Beckford blows hot and cold... sensational when he's up for it, dire when he's not... he was never a favourite at Leeds for this reason But give him a chance is all...

Ok, so maybe just disappear mysteriously, never to be seen again. Four words - bridge, under, water, the. The most "moronicity" I see on this thread comes from your own hands. MON was clearly wasted on sections of our fanbase, believing as he did in concepts like success and ambition. Some of the happy-clappies who have orgasmed over a 0-0 in Cardiff (a city where even Ian Holloway managed a victory for us!) would happily tolerate lower-league dross for the next decade. But I very much doubt that our owners would. They pay the manager and squad to produce a lot better performances than we've seen so far this season.

Is it wrong for me to say I find it rather funny that you have a tendency of nitpicking arguments just for the sake of criticizing Sven-Göran Eriksson? Because, if I remember correctly, Mr. Holloway, the Holy Ghost, led us to relegation to League One a couple of seasons back. Short memories or simply trying to play a poor man's devil's advocate? I still don't see the point in you supporting Leicester when you should be better off featuring a Barca shirt, so you can get the orgasms you're longing for so desperately on a weekly basis.

That form wins you this league, don't know what more the guy can do.
shen Posted 26 September 2011 Posted 26 September 2011 Unsurprising that somebum and CCF are the first ones in this thread arguing against Stocky Fox. Followed up by accessory's *whooosh*... I really don't know why so many bother discussing with these trolls time and time again. They're the current ibbosuks and Chandlers on here. Taking a negative stance and not budging an inch. And I really hate how this handful of negative people gives off the impression that there's dissent among our fans.
panky and our gang Posted 26 September 2011 Posted 26 September 2011 That does tend to happen on a web site such as this . The impressions are made by a handful of posters and do not really reflect what the vast majority of fans think . But that is the nature of small chat sites like this . I also think calling someone a " troll " because their opinion differs from your own is very " negative " as well . :dunno:

It's because they so obviously set out with a negative attitude and won't budge an inch, using 'criticism' as a pretext for mongering. Some do it on purpose while some are merely misguided, but the effects are the same. They'll never admit to being wrong even if we e.g. would go on to win the league, they're simply 'too proud' to do so. If we get any success, they'll pull a Chandler and not rear their head until we're in the mire again. Miserable lot...
panky and our gang Posted 26 September 2011 Posted 26 September 2011 Ok Shen I see what you mean .
