Dr The Singh Posted 29 September 2011 Posted 29 September 2011 Sometimes you have to play defensive for a while to learn and ingrain in to you on how to defend properly. It's starting to bear fruition and I think as the season goes on we'll attack more and score goals but with the defence remaining tight and reliable. It's a bit like going out on the piss all the while and rinsing your dough, it doesn't matter what you do, you always spend it. You try staying in 1 night a week and calculate how much you'll save but at the end of the month it's all gone still. So you decide to stay in and be a hermit for a whole month, you stay focused and determined and a month later you've got a grand in your sky rocket and although you're revved up and ready to get smashed again, you're more conservative and shrewd with your wedge and yet you still get the job done in some style. You even have enough squiller left to go up the brothel and have a happy ending. Well that's Leicester, we're cutting right back to then build it up again so we're better in the long run. Right, i'm off up Stunnerz on Narborough Road. Say hello to Wendy for me, tell her she still owes me money!!

Corky Posted 29 September 2011 Posted 29 September 2011 I doubt we'll be playing negatively away from home all season. Last season is important in that repsect. We were too soft on the road, especially at the top clubs, and needed to rectify that. Before the season I had my doubts about our defence at away games, I'm glad we've gone some way to sorting it out. But, at some point, we will need to be more adventurous, which may happen soon with the defence's confidence improving with every game.
Daggers Posted 29 September 2011 Posted 29 September 2011 anyone know the state of beckford? Yes, but there are better holiday destinations.

Babylon Posted 29 September 2011 Posted 29 September 2011 When you talk about the place never changing that applies to you as much as anyone. You're just so reasonable. You always have been - with every manager I can remember. And somehow that's the problem. Rather be reasonable and realistic rather than the alternative, which you opitomise.
Guest Col city fan Posted 29 September 2011 Posted 29 September 2011 Rather be reasonable and realistic rather than the alternative, which you opitomise. Oh babs! Not you as well with grammar! Epitomise... Predictive text to blame?
Babylon Posted 29 September 2011 Posted 29 September 2011 Oh babs! Not you as well with grammar! Epitomise... Predictive text to blame? Nah not predictive text. I'll plead insanity after having had about an hours kip in the last 24 hours.

Babylon Posted 29 September 2011 Posted 29 September 2011 Blimey, Hope you're ok mate... I'm great don't worry, I've been away on holiday and only landed this morning. Nice to come back to 27 degrees, feels like I'm still away.
Ric Flair Posted 29 September 2011 Posted 29 September 2011 bear fruit? come to fruition? can something 'bear fruition' (not taking the piss, just wondered) Haha, I actually haven't a clue whether that's correct or not. I'm known to make up my own grammatical phrases. You're likely to be right in questioning it!
Dan Posted 29 September 2011 Posted 29 September 2011 I've done these stats before and King's are much better. This season so far: King 1 goal Wellens 1 goal King 2 assists Wellens 1. King 8 shots on target, 10 off (28 all told) Wellens 3 on target four off (7 all told) Last season King 16 goals Wellens 4 King 6 assists Wellens 9 King 44 shots on target 37 off (Total 81) Wellens 17 on target 25 off (Total 42). It's much the same further back. Alan Youngsums Vassell up. He promises much but there's so little end product. Interesting stats - but I was probably wrong in saying Wellens would be high with assists, why? Because he'll often play a big part in our creative game without actually scoring the goals or even setting it up himself. It's hard to explain what he does, but he's one of our most exciting players to watch on his day and when he is on his day, a lot of the team are. I think King is under-rated by a lot of our fans but it's very easy to see why people think he goes missing. I agree about Vassell too. Pretty good player but his goals threat, for an ex-England forward, is abysmal.
Thracian Posted 29 September 2011 Posted 29 September 2011 Absolutely, I'm as expectant as everyone else. If you went last night, I'm sure you'll have seen we were a threat. We had the best chance of the game. Had we not held on to the ball too long at times, we'd have had so many more chances. We got in behind them 3 times, only great saving tackles prevented a ball being sent in for a tap in. They never got in behind us once. They'll be there or there abouts this season. In truth they never set up to get behind us but this is not just about last night. We've scored two goals in the last four league games and that's the penalty we're paying for stiffling the game, tightening our defence, playing one specialist striker and too many non-scorers. I think our total of shots on target last night was three compared to their six which shows what suffocating, unenterprising football both teams played. I don''t give a toss about Boro's tactics or anyone else's but the thought of watching such predictably negative crap is almost physically painful to me and I can only admire your resilience in continuing to put up with it and even accept it. I respect your analysis as you well know. But i'm just wishing. hoping and praying we finally find a manager and coaches who are brave enough to attack and wise enough to sign the players necessary to do it and then get them playing to their best effect.
Whitlock 7 Posted 29 September 2011 Posted 29 September 2011 Vassell in my opinion is not a match winner, he is the player in the team which will consistently gives u a 6/7 out of ten, at home we need players who may get 8 and 9 but also the odd 4 and 5. Vassell was our best striker last season and looks our most dangerous player this season, if you can't see that, might aswell go watch the rugby because football isnt your sport!

Vassell have never been a goalscorer at any point in his career. Decent player but I'm with Thrac here, it's a crucial area on the pitch where we won't have goals coming from.
acooling08 Posted 30 September 2011 Posted 30 September 2011 Just seen the highlights on BBC. How did Beckford miss that header?! I could of scored that
nickelbyfox Posted 30 September 2011 Posted 30 September 2011 Just seen the highlights on BBC. How did Beckford miss that header?! I could of scored that Completely agreed, but also these floated set plays from Wellens! Why can't we give Yuki a chance, wasn't he a free kick specialist before he came here. We have Mills, Bamba, Pelts and King should be creating far more havoc from set pieces!

Looks like Tigers had better get ready to deal with 20000 more fans then..

jockkkk Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 I travelled up from Leeds and had to leave at 75 mins to get the train which I was gutted about because things were finally coming to life. We seemed to spend too much time making horizontal passes but tonight made up for it! I took a picture I thought I'd share. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i244/jockkkk/Middlesbrough%20v%20Leicester%20Sep%202011/middlesbroughvleicestersep2011.jpg Unfortunately I wasn't 100% on the lighting which affected the quality but I hope you see yourself in it!
