Whitlock 7 Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 at home we are scoring some goals, much like to see wellens dropped after apparently another awful dislay (was a wellens admirer, gets us ticking) team for saturday. Schmiechel Peltier Bamba Mills Konchesky Fernandes King Johnson Danns Beckford(if fit) Nugent (if fit) Derby should come and play for the three points, good news for us, No vassell?? Are you mad?
Corky Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 I was hoping the Nugent and Beckford partnership might start on Saturday but with Beckford injured now it may have to wait... What is the latest on Beckford? So frustrating if he is out, considering Nugent is back in contention.
Jace Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 vassell and schlupp would be welcomed into any other squad in the championship right now I think good thinks should happen soon up front
Thracian Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 Yes, three consecutive clean sheets in the Championship - we'll be advertising soap powers next if nothing else. But how many times did we test their goalkeeper? I really weep for our approach to attacking. Vassell seemed to be playing like a set of buffers in a railway terminus because everything ended with him. We've picked up another two or three injuries - perhaps to Wellens, Johnson and Beckford - so all of a sudden our mighty squad is looking decidedly ragged and we'll surely be regretting not making the best of our previous opportunities to put pressure on the leaders by winning games we were clearly in a position to win.. It seems indisputable that Bamba was man of the match with another defender, Mills, not far behind. Wll done both of them and well done the team for their resilience. Attacking wise it did seem that we got the ball forward well enough - with Kasper leading the way with his orbit balls - but we just didn't seem to have the control and imagination to make the best of what we created. King seemed prepared to have a pop even if most of his shots seemed to be blocked - but in the end we had one great chance to win it and Beckford squandered it with wanton carelessness. It wasn't a disastrous night - we just fell another point off the pace. But while Youngy seems to see the team settling - and, yes, our unbeaten run has stretched another game - I still don't get the impression we're tackling any of our limitions or becoming any more threatening as a unit. The optimists will say two worthwhile draws from places that are "hard to come to". But, realistically, we've got to aspire to much better than this. Ironic that having loaned Waghorn out, it now looks like we'll need to find at least one other striker from somewhere, if only for the bench. Cos the prospect of Nugent being required to play a full game on his return is just not on.
Donut Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 Weve won 3 games out of 9 Weve scored more than 2 goals in a league game once this season Our top league scorer has got 2 goals Weve already lost at home twice Weve got the biggest, and on paper, one of, if not THE best squads in the league And were all having a wank over a couple of back to back 0-0 draws We have got the mentality of a small team. not one with big ambitions of promotion. I dont care if that statement hurts. Its true
Bert Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 Great point, solid at the back once more. Kasper only tested once. Another god awful Ref. He was pathetic. Never have I seen an opposition player get tripped over by one of their own and win a free kick. I thought whenever we had a slight decision go in our favour, whenever they could the officials gave anything they could to Boro. The midfield seems to be where the problem lies, no-one seems to know what they're doing, and there's no width at all, meaning we're too easy to have the ball switched against us, as the whole of the midfield tends to be where the play is. Once the ball is switched, we're straight on the back foot. The unbeaten run extends, another clean sheet to boot.
Thracian Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 vassell and schlupp would be welcomed into any other squad in the championship right now I think good thinks should happen soon up front But not without width, precision crosses, people disturbing defences and better support in terms of numbers and accuracy. I'm beginning to feel extremely underwhelmed.
Charl91 Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 We have got the mentality of a small team. not one with big ambitions of promotion. I dont care if that statement hurts. Its true I agree. To me it seems as if everyone would be happy if we drew with all of the top 10 teams.
Tielemans63 Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 I really think we're going to hit our straps sooner rather than later and give someone an absolute caning. Let's hope it's against the shaggers at the weekend. However, still think we need a winger or two on loan. Get some service coming in from the flanks and we'll be laughing.
accessory Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 Some of the deluded posts on this thread are astounding. For all the clean sheets, unbeaten runs etc, we're still only in 11th place. And a scoring record of 9 goals in 9 games won't take us up. We scored more goals at this stage in 07-08! Nugent can't return quickly enough. We desperately need him for Saturday.
sdb Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 I wouldn't worry too much about injuries, Our squad is very decent imo. Danns, Fernandes and Schlupp/Nugent to come in? Not too shabby.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 I just looked in the OED under "pessimist" and it says, "i.e. Thracian"

Head Honcho Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 2 points from 6 and goals for: 0. Not good enough? YOU CRAZY FOOL GET SOME NUTS
Guest Col city fan Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 This whole debate falls into two camps... whether you see an away point at a solid Borough side as a good result? or whether you find the so-called diamond formation to be extemely 'chance-limiting' thus creating massively boring football I personally can see both points of view. A point tonight was a good result, we are only 6 points off the top and kept another clean sheet. But its fookin dull football to watch...... I can see both points of view on this.. What we MUST now do, and I think we will, is beat an actually quite average Derby side on Saturday... its one thing to be happy with away draws, but we must now continue to pick up three points at home
hackneyfox Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 Truro's report fro Bentleys http://www.fansonline.net/leicestercity/article.php?id=800
CKB Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 So frustrating if he is out, considering Nugent is back in contention. Very frustrating! lets hope Beckford is fit for Saturday The midfield seems to be where the problem lies, no-one seems to know what they're doing, and there's no width at all, meaning we're too easy to have the ball switched against us, as the whole of the midfield tends to be where the play is. Once the ball is switched, we're straight on the back foot. Spot on, our midfield which has talent in there is way to one sided.. We miss geniune width and we just don't have it, if Sven can pull some magic in the loan window a couple of wingers could transform us.. .Sven surely must see this issue? he knew our striker issue and went out and got Beckford he must see our width issue.. Depends who is available at the moment aswell i guess!
Guest MattP Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 You would think it was a point that took us into 2nd reading through this thread. Big game Saturday now, could do a win and scoring a few goals, going to be lowest local derby home attendance for years.
bluesbrothers Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 Points away, wins at home is play off form at least. If we can nick the occasional 3 points away, top two is perfectly acheivable. I'm dead pleased with the progress Leicester are making, not least in a defence which i have gone from pulling my hair out over to singing the praises of in the space of five games! Bamba and Mills are finally gelling together, and we can build from the back. Up the foxes. There's no reason we can't beat Derby, to me they're just another team running on momentum - the same as Brighton and Southampton - so here's hoping for another home win come saturday. And to be honest, now we're picking up clean sheets with relative comfort, and managing to cancel out prolific players like Emnes and Mackail Smith, I'm more than happy for us to do what people warned us that Sousa would do to us - namely, sneak dull 1-0 wins most of the time. Christ, how wrong we were...
nuttytimmy Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 A win against Derby and this was a smashing result. A draw against Derby and it signals the beginning of a poor run. That said, we've hit teams in form and, I think, two clean sheets away at Boro and Cardiff are smashing results. Let's say it again: what would have happened this time last season? Full views, as ever, on the blog.
Guest Col city fan Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 What a load of *****..... A point against Boro is a right result.......Numpties!!! Completely unnecessary....
