Rangers' Nikica Jelavic reveals Fenerbahce approach

Nikica Jelavic says he rejected overtures from Fenerbahce to remain with Rangers this summer but admits he would like to play in England one day.

The striker was the subject of a failed £6.5m bid from Leicester City.

"While there was a good offer from Leicester, that is not a club I want to move on to if I am to leave," he said.

"Fenerbahce's proposal was really interesting, but I wanted to stay because we have a very good chance of winning the title again this season."

Rangers sources had claimed that they received a £9m offer from a mystery club in the final hours of the transfer window but that they were determined to retain the Croatia striker.

"In all honesty, I am very happy here," Jelavic told Rangers Monthly.

"At the moment, I'm really not thinking about any new clubs.

Fair play he's one of Rangers prize assets and is loved by every Rangers fan. There's no point leaving somewhere who WERE in europe to come down to Leicester when he could become an expensive flop. IF we get promoted I think his theroy might change but I don't think he'll get a 2nd chance to come to Leicester.

In a similar article, think it was on Sky Sports, he says he thinks Rangers have a good chance of winning the league...well, theres a 50/50 chance.

No doubt 'a club like Leicester' will seem a lot more attractive next season if we're promoted, it's all spiel.

Had the Thais' money been put in front of him I'm sure he would have changed his tune. He's hardly going to say otherwise is he though?! Not exactly gona come out and say he really wanted to leave and was really interested in coming when the window's shut and we've signed Beckforrd is he!

Basically wants to stay in Scotland and win a trophey then...Also play European football and after he's deemed a god by Rangers fans, go to a bigger club and better league.

He may be regretting it if that doesn't happen and we go up then...

Fair play he could probably play in the premiership so why come to us he's winnng trophys there.

What trophies though?? It's a poor poor league up there, and there quality has really shown this season from Europe!! Not saying we are a better club, but just makes me wonder if the team we had now was in the spl, I think we would be challenging for the tittle!!!

Agree...it's a poor league and it makes me laugh when people propose that Celtic and Rangers would be a good addition to the Prem....i personally think they'd struggle in the Championship should they join the English league.

I wouldn't say they are much better then us though....their squad isn't amazing

With there squads at the minute, they are a bottom half prem team at best, BUT if they were in the prem, big players would go there, and they would probally be fighting for top 6, but that's the thing good players want to play in the prem, not some mickey mouse league (spl)
