vandamman Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 I'm sure this hasa been done before but looking for some new info. I've got an old sony erriccson, its actually quite good I can access facebook and its been good to me for all these years! But I thought I might join the modern mobile revolution but have no clue what phone nowadays is good. I would like a sim free mobile which is good to use for work i.e. emails as well as accessing facebook and other websites (not at work of course....) as well as having a v.good camera and obvs can call and text people at least! I've been looking at an Sony Eric Xperia Ray, any good? These HTC wildfires are pretty well priced too, any good? what is the best HTC model? Any others? Many thanks.
vandamman Posted 14 October 2011 Author Posted 14 October 2011 Note - I'm not too fussed about a blackberry, and cant afford an Iphone!
potter3 Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 Your old one wasn't a K750i by any chance was it?
EnderbyFox Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 Your old one wasn't a K750i by any chance was it? I had one of those, quality phones! I'd definitely recommend getting a htc, only problem is that they need to be charged pretty often.
hairy Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 My son has a Wildfire and they truely are shite! Poor signal, poor battery life, chunky graphics. I would avoid them.

lavrentis Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 I've got a Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 because it was seriously was on the cheap and to be honest it's pretty crappy in comparison to other phones but for me it's brilliant as my old phone was a pile of shite.
Super_Fox_Boy Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 I've got a wildfire and like hairy said they are really shit. I'm lucky if the battery lasts a day and i've changed all the settings on it to maximize the battery life. They do really struggle with signal as well, so bad that I thought the network was down yet when I put my sim card in the missus phone full signal. Also if you have a few apps the phone takes forever to open anything. I would recommend no one purchase these heaps of shit and I regret the day I got it. What I really mean is the phone is wonderful and you can buy it off me of course .
Bellend Sebastian Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 My son has a Wildfire and they truely are shite! Poor signal, poor battery life, chunky graphics. I would avoid them. If it's got chunky graphics I'm guessing it's the original Wildfire, rather than the current Wildfire S, which has a higher resolution screen. My Missus has one, and one of the girls in my office, and I think the current one is OK unless you're working it hard playing fancy games and that. Sensation is the most powerful HTC phone as far as I'm aware, but it's not cheap. The last time I looked a couple of months ago the Samsung Galaxy SII was arguably the best phone you could get, and having now had a chance to play around with one, it is very impressive although it's pretty huge
grth2004 Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 im in the same situation , ive had a htc hero for the last 2 years which has been a good phone but its struggling to keep up with the new apps that are comming out , ive been looking at phones for the last month and im not interested in a iphone or blackberry the best phone ive seen so far in my price range is the GALAXY
vandamman Posted 14 October 2011 Author Posted 14 October 2011 Note - I'm not too fussed about a blackberry, and cant afford an Iphone! K800i. Good solid phone, decent camera too. Dropped it countless times but after all this time I need an upgrade.

I am Rod Hull Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 Am i dreaming or was "htc" on watchdog this week for being total cack ?
I am Rod Hull Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 My wildfire s' touch screen has cocked up! Not happy! http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=76979&pid=2020879&st=0entry2020879
wattolcfc Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 If you are going for a smartphone the Samsung Galaxy S2 is by far the best on the market at the moment. Or at least on par with the new iPhone 4S. Just a few of its great features: Built in FM Radio, 8MP Camera, Full HD video recording, massive Android marketplace full of free apps and its light, sleek and sexy. Best of all you can (or could) pick it up on a £25 a month contract from Tesco Mobile with 600 mins, 1000 texts and 1GB data.. BARGAIN! PLUS a £50 Tesco voucher! Heres a review: http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/samsung-galaxy-s2-930907/review Hope this helps.
Leicfox Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Just got an HTC One S. http://www.htc.com/w...ones/htc-one-s/ It's the best phone I've ever had (HTC Desire HD) or even tried (daughters iPhone 4). It's simply brilliant. Lock screen Home screen
Leicfox Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 Why not preorder the Galaxy S3? Looks quality. 4.7/4.8 display is just to big for me.
m00nie Posted 9 May 2012 Posted 9 May 2012 4.7/4.8 display is just to big for me. dont fancy the galaxy note then..
Ashley Posted 10 May 2012 Posted 10 May 2012 I've got the iPhone 4S, had a blackberry before and well iPhone shits all over them! Was tempted to get the Sony Xperia though. 12 mega pixel camera, HDR Recording and it can play Play Station games! Well the PSP ones....
Webbo Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 I'm looking at a WiFi enabled phone but I'm on PAYG as I don't use my mobile much. Would I be charged to surf the net on the phone if I was in a free WiFi hotspot?
HEGGSY Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 I'm looking at a WiFi enabled phone but I'm on PAYG as I don't use my mobile much. Would I be charged to surf the net on the phone if I was in a free WiFi hotspot? I don't think you do, you'll only be charged if you turn on the 3g network to access the internet. Have you considered giffgaff? £10 p/m for 250 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited internet. It acts as a contract but is PAYG, once it runs out after each month, you just top it up as you would a normal PAYG sim. As for a phone, here's a link for the best cheap PAYG phones at the moment...... http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/best-cheap-phones-2012-payg-mobiles-compared-961975 Hope this helps.
