davieG Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 http://www.southlond...ne=Exclusive%3A Exclusive: Palace keen on deal for Leicester defender Tuesday, 18 October 2011 By Richard Cawley CRYSTAL Palace are set to target Aleksandar Tunchev in January because the Leicester defender has been such a hit during his stay at Selhurst Park. The Bulgarian international, 30, has to go back to the Foxes at the start of November because emergency loan deals cannot be extended beyond 93 days. But Eagles boss Dougie Freedman has confirmed to the South London Press that he will make a fresh move for his services. "I've not drawn a line through Tunchev returning," said Freedman. "We'll try and get him back in January. I'm hoping we've done enough as a club in the way we've treated him that we can do something if Leicester don't want him." Fox92 Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 The article highlights to me that Tunchev is a good defender at this level. Palace don't concede many goals, and they are in the top half of the table at the minute. Personally, I wouldn't accept the bid as I'd like to see him challenging for one of the centre half position.

You didn't have to be 'gypsy Rose lee' to predict this did you.....
flowwolf Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 I hope we let him go for his sake. He has been a good player for us when not injured and i don't see him figuring in too many games if he returns.

He appears to be over his big injury (or I hope he is for his sake)... He has composure, experience and can bring the ball out from the back IMO Tunch can still have a big part to play in our 'promotion push' Although Sven didn't sign him.. So he'll probably go..
breadandcheese Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 It would be a mistake to let a player of his quality go to a rival, presumably on the cheap. The simple question I would ask is, would he add something to our backline? In my opinion, yes. We should keep him.
Thracian Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 An injury-free Tunchev is a quality player, the sort of player who reads situations and plays the ball clear with thought and precision. He is one of only about nine or 10 players I'd want to keep from our squad.
cc_star Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 The loan seems to have done its job & he's proved his fitness, he's better than playing ball in the middle & given SSLs last appearance for us Tunchev should be challenging the 2 first choice CBs
Joe. Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 The whole point of him going there was to prove his fitness. Sven clearly thinks there's something about him so hopefully after this short loan spell he's done more than enough to get himself back in here. I think St Ledger's stay here could be very much short-lived.
munf1987 Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 I'm sure the only reason tunchev was loaned out in the first place was to get fit with a few games under his belt to prove he is over his inuries. Sven has said he likes Tunchev but it was only the inuries which put doubt in his mine. Tunchev has proved his fitness now and will come back to give us the 4th CB, which personally i think you need in a squad
MPH Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 in January, should Bamba go to the African cup of Nations, i think a fully fit Tunchev might be favored by Sven to SSL. Actually beginning to feel a little bit sorry for SSL. I think he thought this would be his dream move and elevate him into the premier league next season... :-(
Yojoe36 Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 No. F**k off, London scum. We're recalling him. Your dump of a club isn't worthy of the Bulgarian Beast

A fit Tunchev is better than any other centre-back currently on our books. But if Sven decides to sell, maybe he could go for Zaha or Ambrose in part-exchange..

sphericalfox Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 Just out of interest Thrac, can you list the 10? Thracian doesn't do lists...
gazfox9 Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 Hope we don't let him go. IMO would be a big mistake. If we were to sell him we'd have done so without even giving him the opportunity to show us he is over his injury. I'd have a feeling he'd go on to show how good a player he is at Palace and people would wonder why he 'never made it at Leicester', despite never having had the chance.
Bryn Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 We need him back in the team. It is massively important that while Mills is suspended and Bamba is at the ACN, Tunchev is our man.
