isaidno Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 RIP Marco Simoncelli . Killed in todays Malaysian Moto Gp. Horrific Crash
Jimmy Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Bad couple of weeks for Motor sport BBC Marco Simoncelli has died after a horrific crash at the Malaysian MotoGP in Sepang. The race was cancelled after four minutes when Honda rider Simoncelli fell and was hit by Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi as he slid across the track. The 24-year-old had his helmet knocked off in the accident and the race was immediately red-flagged. Honda rider Simoncelli first entered MotoGP for the 2010 season. He won his first pole position at the Catalunya race in June this year. The accident happened at Turn 11 when Simoncelli's bike veered across the track into the path of Edwards and Rossi. Simoncelli, who was motionless on the track after the impact, had been fourth at the end of lap one after qualifying in fifth. Edwards also fell but escaped serious injury, while Rossi, on a Ducati, was able to return to the pits. World champion Casey Stoner said: "As soon as I saw the footage it just makes you sick inside. Whenever the helmet comes off that's not a good sign." Simoncelli's first podium finish came in the Czech Republic in August when he finished third but he bettered that with a second-place finish at the Australian GP. The Italian started in the 125cc class in 2002 and moved up to the 250cc class in 2006. He claimed the 250cc world title in 2008.
stix Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Devastating news. Simoncelli had unbelievable potential. Another sad day for motorsport. RIP
Munzie Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Unbelievable He made Moto GP exciting this year. Valentino Rossi must be inconsolable. One of his protégées and involved in the crash. RIP Marco. Another future champion taken away from us.
Matt Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Terrible news. I love motorbikes but they are just simply killing machines!
isaidno Posted 23 October 2011 Author Posted 23 October 2011 One of the most exciting riders in recent years. I loved his wild riding style, how he'd mixed it up with the big boys this season

This guy was one of my idols, someone who I looked up too, and have supported since i was 10. I just watched him die live on TV.
MC Prussian Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Just rolled over him - **** me.But why was Simoncelli down, hanging over on his bike like this before anyway, aimlessly and slowly drifting over to the right - was he unconscious already?
davieG Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 I'm glad I read that he'd lost his helmet before viewing that Horrible Don't watch this sport but RIP.

Just before I put you on ignore, I encourage you to rethink what you have put. Are you suggesting that you have no connection with sports stars or other people in the public limelight? You feel nothing for a young TALENT lost? God forbid, one of the LCFC squad were to be taken before their time. Would you still promote you're thoughts for the 16k above anyone you follow/support/enjoy/watching?
millzi Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 ahh FFS, another person dies having fun and earning millionsof $$ and is lauded on here and facebook etc.. yeh yeh sorry for your family and all..but..... tomorrow... 16,000 16,000 SIXTEEN THOUSAND!!!!! children will starve to death!!! lets see a fooking facebook page or FT topic R.I.P.-ing each of those How can you seriously be so inconsiderate!? One of the biggest up and coming talents and a man with true character that many people admired and looked up to and you can't even have a bit of respect!? Get real. R.I.P Marco, such a massive loss to the sport.
Guest Bilo Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Ozleicester, I'm surprised at you. I thought you were better than that. Every single death of a child is tragic, and nobody disagrees that death from starvation is a travesty in 2011, but to suggest that the death of a man who at 24 had his whole life in front of him was less of a tragedy is ridiculous. Especially when the poor bloke is not yet cold. Back to the crash, it was truly horrific. You can see he had no chance of survival and seeing his lifeless body lying on the track leaves my blood running cold. Absolute tragedy.
Salieri Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Wish I hadn't watched that video, that is truly awful. Very sad news, R.I.P.
Stig the Lawnmower Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 ahh FFS, another person dies having fun and earning millionsof $$ and is lauded on here and facebook etc.. yeh yeh sorry for your family and all..but..... tomorrow... 16,000 16,000 SIXTEEN THOUSAND!!!!! children will starve to death!!! lets see a fooking facebook page or FT topic R.I.P.-ing each of those you, mate, are an arsehole. do we all stop spending our money on footy etc and send it to the kids then. what ths fvck are YOU doing about it?? Most moto gp riders give a lot of money to charities. every gp has a save the children day which is dedicated to that cause. Riders, such as simoncelli, donate helmets and other items for auction. if you weren't so much up your own arse you may have realised this. so, tosspot, simoncelli's death has actually had an adverse affect on save the children. still feel smug?
Kenners Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Devastated. SO much potential. He was a rare character in a sporting world of dull PR machines. Ozleicester, he was a hero for me and for many.
Stig the Lawnmower Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Just rolled over him - **** me. But why was Simoncelli down, hanging over on his bike like this before anyway, aimlessly and slowly drifting over to the right - was he unconscious already? he had lost the front end halfway round the bend, slipped off the bike and was trying to hang on to it as it veered across the track. Edwards had no chance of missing him.
The Doctor Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Holy ****ing shit that's a horrific crash. And ozleicester, while I understand and agree with the sentiment in your post, that's a very cold comment to make and you might want to rephrase it.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Not a fan of the sport but a truly horrific crash. Been a very bleak few days for motorsport.
