liamsm Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 You're assuming that this is the only board then? Bentleys is probably the reverse of this board when it comes to Pearson. And Bentleys is what % of Citys fan base? i went to one of their functions at St Andrews F.C. earlier in the year it was lovely weather RL and some ex city players were there and there was only about 60-70 people there, dont seem like a very big % to me
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Bugger, I'd panic but I'm so underwhelmed by it all I can't be arsed. Hopefully he'll get a couple of quick results, without Dyer & Howard, and I'll be on the bus. What is it that so underwhelms you exactly? Bentlys must be the most negative board around. Who would you have preferred and why?
ScouseFox Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 "In doubt" says someone on Twitter. John Percy Nigel Pearson move to #lcfc in doubt, at this stage. Major issue with compensation - which is around £1m and not 400k as reported #hcafc

I support my team, I don't have to mindlessly support the manager. We didn't score a lot of goals via strikers when NFP was here before, Hull still don't. Davies, Hughes, MON. OSG, SOD, Atkins. I could add loads to the list, most we wouldn't have got, I'm just totally underwhelmed by this appointment. Bentleys covers a different age group to this board, that would explain the cynicism. We don't do loving/hating/bumming/cominginmyownmouth/sexwees etc.

hackneyfox Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Just had a quick look on Bentleys and the logic they use to criticise Pearson is absolutely laughable. I can't even be bothered to quote it here, but suffice to say I don't think they're exactly representative of most level headed fans views. In your opinion. Many don't find it laughable. Many other fans are laughing at us for going back to an old manager. My dad, a fan for 65 years, has had enough and he wasn't a fan of Svens.

Im the same age as you roughley and I find Bentleys as a bunch of meat head, racists would never join that board. Very happy with Pearson if it comes off.

inckley fox Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 If Pearson does return I hope the fans give him time. Four of the six midfield / attacking players were his era, two of which are now old. We've effectively replaced Fryatt/Waghorn with Nugent (improvement) and Spearing with Danns (not), then replaced the old defence with one that concedes more goals. So how that's a better side than the one that finished fifth I'm not sure. My opinion on the anti-Pearson sentiment is that the majority of fans don't go on forums! At West Ham very few people made their voices heard about wanting MON, but at Leeds there was some chanting in favour of Pearson. I hope the anti-Pearson brigade aren't saving it all up... I've noticed an interesting dynamic with the fans. In '94 fans spat at Little in the year he took us up but embraced McGhee even though he took us down. A lot of those same people then turned on O'Neill after just twelve weeks in the job. Among my friends (and this may not be very representative) a lot of those who were anti-Little and (initially) anti-O'Neill were more recently very pro-Sven, and don't like the idea of Pearson coming back. In my opinion this relates to the issue of the 'beautiful game'. Some people prefer beautiful football to results, but in the Championship - in our history if not everyone else's - it's often been a choice between the two. I was still reserving judgement on Sven at the time of his exit, but a decision to replace him with Pearson - or Davies even - makes a lot more sense than the decision to let Pearson go in the first place. People need to put past managers (save the new appointment,of course) to one side now, not let one regime malign another regime in the way the hangover from Allen's sacking led to many fans calling for Megson to leave... something which eventually resulted in our relegation. Let's not forget that the last three results under the caretakers were no worse than the last three under Sven, the only difference being that we scored five goals instead of two. It just occurs to me that if these people had had their way with our club - firing anyway who doesn't play attractive football - then we'd quite possibly never have had any success at Leicester.

I could add loads to the list, most we wouldn't have got, I'm just totally underwhelmed by this appointment. Again,we were the top goalscorers in the football league in Pearson's first season in charge. And he took over the team who scored the least goals in the Championship a year before. And before anyone says 'League One doesn't count' - well it did for all the sides that either fell straight through it, took more than one year to get out, or never got out (Luton, Plymouth, Wednesday, Southampton, Charlton, Colchester, Scunthorpe, Millwall, Leeds and a helluva lot more). I'm not sure Pearson has the instant motivational impact factor that we may need to get promotion this year, but the unfavourable reflections on his past record are a bit daft to say the least, Given time he'd do a job. PS, How many permanent signings under the age of 25 did Sven make? I can't think of one, but there must be.
Ric Flair Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 In your opinion. Many don't find it laughable. Many other fans are laughing at us for going back to an old manager. My dad, a fan for 65 years, has had enough and he wasn't a fan of Svens. But i'm yet to read a single relevent argument. All i've read is that he's a twat because he used to play Dyer, Weale, Fryatt and Howard. However, the fact we finished 5th with that shower of shite should be commended not ridiculed. What could he do with the squad he will now inherit?
Corky Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Many other fans are laughing at us for going back to an old manager. Thank God it's not anyone from 04-08 then.
JadeFalcon Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15621888.stm compensation aparently

Babylon Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Davies, SOD, So basically two were possible. One of which failed to take forest up after spending a heck of a lot more than Pearson did. The other did just ok at Doncaster. And you find Pearson Underwhelming?

Corky Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 They'll agree compensation, the owners seem desperate to get him.
frozenoak Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15621888.stm compensation aparently Yeah i thought itd be because Pearson wants some of his staff in on the deal, wasnt that one of the problems before he left us that Mandric couldnt garentee there contracts.

We don't do loving/hating/bumming/cominginmyownmouth/sexwees etc. You can name as many managers as you want and not one of them will convince everyone that he is the man. Any name will have its flaw for some people. Even if we had Jose people would slag him off saying he hasnt managed at this level. On the basis of a manager never being as good when he goes back Dalglish(much as i despise Lpool) and Pulis havent done too bad going back! Im sure we can get one of them when we end up looking for another manager next season(as we always do at City!)
Ric Flair Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 So basically two were possible. One of which failed to take forest up after spending a heck of a lot more than Pearson did. This is what gets me about his knockers who dont/cant understand the position (squad and cash wise) we`re in now and what he had to work with back then... I`m more than happy that he`s returning and more than happy to watch him turn us around and shut the 12% up...
artursteppe Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 I dont go on other boards but i do know this is the only place i have actually heard a single person say they dont want him back... EVERY city fan i have spoken to is very excited about having him back. And as Babs has suggested.... the poll makes it clear the majority of fans on here want him back too... That just says a lot about the people you mix with.
flanimal Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 SSN Pearson will be confirmed as Leicester manager next week. It's on now.
