lcfcliam Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 and clearly showed against leeds why he should be left out Why what did Howard do wrong against Leeds?
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 We should win this easily. Manager or no manager.
bob gregory Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 Why what did Howard do wrong against Leeds? Couldn't get it going, Mainly due to the fact he's slow if not static off the mark and IMO looked unfit and well aged. He shouldnt be used in a 442 and would be better suited in the middle of a 3 playing to head or holding up play. For me. presently he's a last 20 super sub at best

Schlupp Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 A 1-0 loss for me,Palace are on top form this season and we're just...Not
Trav Le Bleu Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 The longer we delay on Pearson taking over, the more I think we'll lose this. Having said THAT, most of the first team won't be anywhere near Leicester until the end of the week, so maybe it'll have no bearing. So I'm going to go with a 4-0 mauled by the tigers win!
bob gregory Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 Most players didn't play well tbh, Howard is playing 10x better than Beckford I think as fans we can confuse a players passion for his actual ability at times. But agree beckford should put in a fully committed 90. Thought he did quite well when he came on against Leeds, hopefully NP & CO will get him going Soon enough

deep blue Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 Why what did Howard do wrong against Leeds? He made no useful contribution in the whole time he was on, and should have been replaced much earlier. Sure, as a target man he got on the end of a few passes/hoofs, but he either miscontrolled it, headed it to a Leeds player, or fell over and claimed a foul (when in fact he'd simply lost out in a physical battle). This last habit he has annoys me more and more. First, he lies around moaning while the play carries on around him, instead of getting up and challenging for the ball, allowing the opposition to launch an attack. Secondly, his constant moaning clearly gets up the nose of the referee who then refuses to give anything to any City player. Neither do anything to help the cause of the team. I don't say he doesn't have an occasional role, but it should be very much limited.

I know he's getting on and he is not as good as he used to be but who would replace him up front? Certainly not Beckford
Oh tommy wright Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 How many times did Howard need to be fouled before anything was given? I know he's getting on and he is not as good as he used to be but who would replace him up front? Certainly not Beckford Can we please end the Howard discussion now. Yes he has passion but so does my 4 year old daughter. Yes as a sub there are some (a few) games where he can make an impact. But come on let's be realistic as the old song goes 'if Howard can play for leicester so can i'. I don't mind that he has no pace, spends most of the time on his arse and can't pass a ball more than 10 yards. My problem is those fans who say he is not a goal scorer, he helps to set up attacks with his flick ons and holding up the ball- very rarely does this actually happen.
John Matrix Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 4 3 3 with steve howard, frankie howard and steve oakley up front.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 4 3 3 with steve howard, frankie howard and steve oakley up front. now youre just being silly, Oakley is on loan at Exeter still
funkyrobot Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 That big Stevie Oakley we took on the sweden tour was banging them in. Think he should get a chance over lookalike Howard
Thracian Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 He made no useful contribution in the whole time he was on, and should have been replaced much earlier. Howard was blatantly pushed for what should have been a penalty for a start. He was also no just fouled but blatantly manhandled on several occasions at the beginning of the first half - all of which would, and should, have produced free-kicks in dangerous positions. Okay, I concede we would probably have pushed the free-kicks sideways and blown the chance of doing anything dangerous, but that wouldn't have been Howard's fault.
Corky Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 Why what did Howard do wrong against Leeds? Too slow and his headers rarely found a teammate.
lestajigs Posted 16 November 2011 Author Posted 16 November 2011 Anyone else think our attendance will get a bigger attendance now Pearson is bk?, can't see palace bringing over 1200, poor support them lot
