Guest MattP Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 Come on now. He might make a few mistakes, who doesn't? He's certainly not shit, and he'd walk into our team if we got in the prem. I hope with our backing we would be aiming for a higher standard than Brown if we go up, been totally shown up this season for how good he actually is, everyone at Old Traffird knew it and to pay 1.5million and give a 4 year deal to a 32 year old cast off is shocking business. It's the sort of deal I would have expected Sven to land tbh.
Tielemans63 Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 A Geordie managing Sunderland is never going to work. That's like us being managed by a guy from Nottingham....
the_foxes_till_i_die Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 Sure ive seen somewhere that MON has allready had a Contract written up with sunderland!! quite sure it was football agent on twitter

Webbo Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 I hope with our backing we would be aiming for a higher standard than Brown if we go up, Who?
Guest MattP Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 Who? Well Norwich picked up a half decent right back in the summer, bit more money but ten years younger with a lot more potential.

Guest MattP Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 When he wins 5 premier league winners medals and 2 champions league winners medals you'll have a point. Means fcuk all when you are on your own at a different club and your flaws are being exposed rather than covered up. By that logic you would spend a fortune on all the John O Shea's, Raimond Van Der Gouw, Christopher Wreh, Remi Garde, Jeremie Aliadiere, Djemba Djemba and Luke Chadwick's of the world. He was a bit part player who mooched off the success created by others, to suggest Naughton has to win 5 premierships and 2 champions leagues to be considered on his level is ridiculous.

ScouseFox Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 Brown is a decent Premier League defender. Using the fact he's won medals at United to prove he's class is a bit like saying Djimi Traore is better than the entire Chelsea squad because he won the Champions League. Not true. But, having been at United for so many years, he's not "shit", clearly.
Bert Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 You think he was worth the 4 year deal? Maybe not. But with his CV £1.5m was a good deal. To say we should be aiming higher than him, who's going to sign for a newly promoted club over an established prem side?
Basingstoke Fox Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 I still think Steve Bruce is a good manager. It's a shame that it hasn't worked out for him.

Capped for England a few times too. Shocking defender.

Of course not.

Capped for England a few times too. Shocking defender. Played for a side that won the league five times and the champions league twice........capped a "few times" for his country in a position Glen Johnson held down. I think that says it all to be honest.
Bob Farley Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 He's signed some good players for Sunderland in the summer. O'Shea, Brown, Bendtner, Larsson, Gardner, Westwood, Wickham. They shouldn't be in 16th place. Are Leicester in a similar boat?
chuck'em Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 I was going to post the same. With significant funds available from Ellis Short I wouldn't be surprised if he took this job if it came up. I don't know how much he is willing to spend. I'm pretty sure in the last 5 years he has invested more than the rest of Sunderland has earned

Chadwick is class. Bruce has been a bit ****ed over with his 'marquee' player Gyan leaving under dubious circumstances.
Head Honcho Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 Bruce should never again be given a managerial position at PL level. He's simply out of his depth.

Fox92 Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 Bruce should never again be given a managerial position at PL level. He's simply out of his depth. To be fair, he led Sunderland to 10th position just the other season. He also guided Wigan to a top half finish as well. I personally think he isn't out of his depth, but I don't know what is a matter at the Stadium of Light. It is obvious to me that Sunderland have some decent players, but what, are they not playing for Bruce? Don't have his respect? Anyway, I think O'Neill will go. Best of luck to him if he does.
Alexikokopops Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 Where is Chadwick now? Given that it was an MK Dons that posted saying he was class I'd probably go for that.
