deep blue Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 If we pay £1 million or more for a conference striker we've well and truly lost it. If we do, and he turns out to better than Sharp, then it doesn't matter where he came from. The only yardstick in terms of price and value is what the player does for us.

Bob Weasel Fox Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 http://en.wikipedia....iki/Jamie_Vardy Cheers buddy, maybe worth a punt with those goalscoring stats?
Bugg Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Seriously a Million pounds for this guy? What a joke. Scott Sinclair was only £500k when Swansea bought him and he had proved himself at a number of decent clubs. If things continue this way the only thing we are going to win this season is the biggest laughing stock in the Championship. Not really, he was pretty shocking at a lot of the clubs he was on loan at.
Bilbo Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Not really, he was pretty shocking at a lot of the clubs he was on loan at. Yeah so shocking he made it onto Chelsea's bench afterwards.
john doe Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Yeah so shocking he made it onto Chelsea's bench afterwards. bruma ? Yeah so shocking he made it onto Chelsea's bench afterwards. van anholtt
Bilbo Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 bruma ? van anholtt Both pretty decent YOUNG players. This guy is 25 and yet to prove he can even play in League 2.
Bugg Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Luke Chadwick was on Man Utds bench a few times. WORLD CLASS
Happy Fox Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Both pretty decent YOUNG players. This guy is 25 and yet to prove he can even play in League 2. I don't give a shit what you think, we need hungry motivated individuals that want to play for this club and this is a fact. The guy's goalscoring record is quite phenomenal isn't going to cost the earth give him a chance at least instead of discarding at the thought of him signing.
Brenfox Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Seems to bang them in for fun but £1million is just ridiculous for a non league player.
john doe Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Both pretty decent YOUNG players. This guy is 25 and yet to prove he can even play in League 2. back to the kevin phillips ian wright demba ba thing then fook em there to old ?
Bilbo Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Luke Chadwick was on Man Utds bench a few times. WORLD CLASS Haha you're completely missing the point. This guy has no experience in even one of the lower leagues and is 25 years old. So why would we even consider paying a million pounds for him?

Try to get the sand out of your Vagina for one second and just think about this logically. Yes he has a decent goal scoring record in a not so decent league. If we sign him he will be competing against players of a much better ability than in the conference. So it's a gamble that he will be able to play as well in the Championship, a risk that will cost the club a million pounds. I'm all for getting undiscovered talent but if they are so desperate/hungry to play for the club it shouldn't cost us a million pounds.

What is a million pounds these days you here the likes of Jordan Rhodes being quoted for £5m and he is playing in League one!, the inflated market has spread down the leagues so the going to pay for a winger such as Vardy who has scored 20 goals in 22 app is worth the gamble imo.

It's exactly this sort of mentality that has got the club into the mess it is currently in. What's a millions pounds? A lot of money for an unproven Conference player. Just think about the knock on effect also. When the other clubs whose players we are targeting hear we paid a cool million for this guy they will hike up the price on any of their players and price us out of the transfer window.
bluearmyfox23 Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Has Vardy been playing on the wing this year then!?

You know what I mean, every team will mug us off because we are rich their is no hiding from that i rather be mugged off by a conference team than a team in our own league. The best option is to abroad and look at some talent in Holland, Belgium etc but quite evidently our scouting network hasn't got the time to do thorough reports because of the situation we are in.
Bettsj2 Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 £1m? Is this a joke? He's not even a league player. If he was 17 then maybe worth the gamble but at 25???? **** that.
Happy Fox Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 £1m? Is this a joke? He's not even a league player. If he was 17 then maybe worth the gamble but at 25???? **** that. Give Fleetwood town Howard and Oakley and £500K that should do the trick.

Blackpool had a 750k bid rejected so it's going to take more. Maybe if we had a scouting system we could discover some hidden gems abroad instead of paying these comedy prices for very average British players.
MPH Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Seems to bang them in for fun but £1million is just ridiculous for a non league player. usually i would agree with you but a few teams are willing to spend that money... its not just our owners.. Give Fleetwood town Howard and Oakley and £500K that should do the trick. Dont be silly that would put the fee up to £2m
Happy Fox Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 usually i would agree with you but a few teams are willing to spend that money... its not just our owners.. Dont be silly that would put the fee up to £2m I was joking.
Adster Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 I was joking. Please excuse me while I laugh my head off.
