Ric Flair Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Spoke to my mate at Fleetwood. They want £1.5 million and a loan back. Realistically £1 million cold, hard cash upfront will get him. He says he's as good as anything he's seen from League One downwards. I'm keen.
Bert Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 If we get him, let's hope he's the new Steve Morison.

lcfcsnow Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 £1.5mil and a loan back? Jesus christ. They can sod off. Dj Campbell went for £5,000. FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS! Beckford can't have gone for much more to Leeds. Why the sudden increase? He's not even played at a professional level, a league club should go for him but on loan, it's similar to the Matt Tubbs scenario. He had alot of interest scoring week in week out at that level, went on loan to Bournemouth but couldn't cut it in League One. Too much of a risk for me, might as well re-sign Billy Kee he's had a more impressive season at Burton.

But Fleetwood don't need to sell, they have money and if they believe that losing him would cost them promotion, then they won't sell, they don't need to.
Cropwellfox Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 We'll likely piss around for a week and then he will go to Blackpool. tick tock .
goose2010 Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 i can understand them wanting 1.5mill (start high end up with a 1mill we all know how it works!) but to ask for a loan back? he is 25?? if he was 17/18 then fair enough but surely their being slightly unrealistic with the 'loan back' option. For one i would like us to sign him, hungry for goals and full of confidence just what we need if you ask me.
jonthefox Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 So.... Is he a striker or a winger!? striker i believe.
Simo86 Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 So.... Is he a striker or a winger!? I've heard he's mainly a striker who can play on the wing
dave_the_fox Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Got ya, wasnt sure whether he was mainly a winger who could play as a striker!
flowwolf Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 There's a video on post six from mikey T looks impressive enough.
Happy Fox Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Tbh cannot see us doing much business this January, the deadwood clear out of Wellens and co won't happen till the summer, so expect mediocre performances on the pitch till the end of the season hopefully we will have enough points to avoid relegation.
Horibbly Wrong Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 £1.5mil and a loan back? Jesus christ. ...Is he in the reserves? I was thinking of maybe Howard or Oakley..
Ric Flair Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Just watched a load of his goals on you tube, he is deadly at running on to through balls and one on ones. He'll be wasted here then as our route one has led to precisely zero one on ones in the last half a dozen games.
Criggers Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Just watched a load of his goals on you tube, he is deadly at running on to through balls and one on ones. He'll be wasted here then as our route one has led to precisely zero one on ones in the last half a dozen games. If we could set up one on ones I'm pretty sure Beckford would be a much happier bunny than he is right now. I don't even know why we're trying to buy a striker. We may as well leave the squad as it is until we can sort out our shitty midfield as all we will do is drag down any players we may end up purchasing. And I say "end up" because it doesn't look like we'll be getting any first choice targets.
Leicfox Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Fleetwood paid 100k for him from Halifax so it's pretty oblivious that they want a return after all the goals he's scored this season, especially as they have a chance for promotion.

I'd love to see some mediocre performances, better than the shambles we are seeing at the moment!
Babylon Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Blackpool had a 750k bid rejected so it's going to take more. Maybe if we had a scouting system we could discover some hidden gems abroad instead of paying these comedy prices for very average British players. Most of any fee would be made up of "extras" for goals and appearances etc. Whilst clubs chuck lots of money away, i'm not sure anyone is stupid enough to pay that kind of fee for a non league player up front.
Ric Flair Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 According to my mate the bid is being considered, they wanted to keep him until the end of the season but we're having none of that. We want him in asap. I think we'll hear something on this in the next day or so.

Callabinho Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 £1.5 mill is too much of a gamble, considering we could get Drinkwater for under a million!
