The Football League No-Show http://theseventytwo...league-no-show/

You can make a polite complaint here https://www.bbc.co.u.../?reset=#anchor but please read the above blog post first so you know roughly the facts

If you don't let the Beeb know how you feel then what's the point in moaning

I took that attitude in regards to Mandaric once, now I think I'll keep my moaning on here after that. lol

I've also tried moaning (politely) to the club a couple of times, no reply, and to the BBC about their website, no reply.

A true supporter for you.

Apologies. I didn't realise that not wanting to watch 'highlights' of a shit game constitutes a, false :dunno: supporter. Get a life.

ITV will surely start to show the programme? Or a different channel?

**** off BBC, utter tits.

I can see thousands putting in complaints and starting petitions, causing the BBC to keep running the show and not cancel it.

Barbara Slater, admitting live football is “out of reach” of the licence-payer budget.

...Match of the Day could follow

So what's the point in the BBC? Shut 'em down, then people will be £190 a year better off. Hence, get Sky Sports. Win-Win surely :P

I'd heard this was possible a while ago but I was hoping we wouldn't have to worry as we'd be more interested in Match Of The Day next season :(

The Football League show has it's flaws but it's been far better since they got rid of the pointless e-mails. I find it much more interesting that MOTD, the Football League is a lot more exciting and it's mainly goals goals goals for an hour or so, whereas I get fed up after half of MOTD with all the anlysis and interviews with managers who I hear saying the same things every week.

Now we will have to put up with ITV - probably with that fat nob Adrian Chiles and adverts taking up the majoriy of the alloted 45 minute slot on a pissing Sunday, or Sky, where we will be subject to horrendous bias towards London clubs and an OTT condescending attitude towards 3 Mickey Mouse leagues for peasants who are too stupid and pathetic to support a successful Premiership team.

In fact Leagues 1 and 2 probably won't even get shown at all on either channel, and only half the Championship games will have highlights, with the other half getting an action-shot photo with a headline and a sentence to sum up from the weapon of a presenter.

BBC have let the public down, and the real football fans in particular.

This is obviously sad news but it's hardly a surprise, especially when you consider the costs.

The FL highlight rights are so heavily weighted against the holder it's untrue. Currently, as I've said many times before, the BBC has to spend around £1m organising the filming and recording of all FL games which aren't ive on Sky. In addition to the live match at 3pm, and then edit all the matches down. It's a costly procedure.

They then do not get to use that footage until the contracted hours of 22:00-midday, while Sky Sports get to show the goals from 7pm, and whenever else they please.

The BBC gives the FL a platform it hasn't seen for a long time. From a decent highlights show (granted, even an ardent supporter likes me finds it hard to watch the chat with Rosenior and Claridge, how they're supposed to have gospel information stored about 72 clubs I'll never know) to decent web highlights, they do a brilliant job.

There's no doubt that if ITV did get their hands back on the rights what they'd serve up would be better than their previous offering of The Championship. But the likelihood is that no FTA broadcaster finds it viable to buy the rights and then spend all that money on filiming when Sky are the ones who reap the full benefits.

There was talk earlier this year that the BBC were offered the rights for nothing, but because the BBC haters got their way and forced a budget cut, they simply can't afford it. Henceforth there is the distinct possibility their will be no FL highlights show next season on a FTA broadcaster.

So to all those who've spent the last 2 1/2 seasons bashing TFLS, seems like you got what you wish for. Hope you're happy.

FLS has been pointless from day one as said above. Sky Sports News shows all the goals anyway and most of the time you saw as much as you would on FLS.

It would have helped it wasn't so cringeworthy from the start and they didn't try having the token female sat there reading the texts and emails when she clearly knew nothing about football.

FLS would be better if they didn't have pundits. They have so much match footage I would actually prefer a conveyor belt of match highlights instead of Claridge banging out every other four games.

I never said it was pointless, I'm one of the great defenders of the FLS. How is it fair that the TV goals should only be on Sky Sports News. Not only does everyone not necessarily have that but I like watching match action without news and tables littering my screen, thanks.

Unfortunately the talking is a load of rubbish, I have to say. It's easy for MOTD, multi camera angles and coverage of every game, with only 20 teams to specialise in. When you're up against 72 teams, one camera at each ground and the expectation of having full knowledge of all clubs, it's unrealistic.

If ITV got it back, I'd urge them to go back to the format they had for several years back in the early 2000's. It was called Nationwide Football League Extra, shown on a Monday night/Tuesday morning and all it had were three presenters (Tony Jones, Tom Skippings and Trevor Harris) who'd do the voice-over/provide commentary on select matches, and show the highlights. No talking, no analysis, no nonsense.

It was absolutely fantastic, and why ITV felt they needed to ruin it with the Championship I'll never know. If the BBC got rid of Manish, Steve and Leroy and just had VO's then it'd be NFLE all over again.

To be honest, they'd have been better off jettisoning the League 1 & 2 highlights and concentrating on the Champoinship. Let's face it, covering 72 clubs in a single highlights show is pretty impossible. I agree that would be a shame - but it's just not viable really.

The 'analysis', etc. is woeful. Even the intro music is utterly pisspoor. The BBC had a great chance with this show and they've ****ed it up royally.

sorry people, i feel a bit guilty.. maybe if i actually paid my tv license fee it would have helped.. but since i found out they cant do fk all to you i stopped paying for it...

The prospect of ITV getting hold of the FL highlights does little to gladden the heart watching their godawful coverage of the FA Cup.

As already said, trying to turn the FLS into a poor man's MOTD hasn't worked but it was better than nothing. I'm lucky enough to have SSN in my living room but not everybody is in the same boat unfortunately.

One thing that didn't work was having the FLS on so late in my view, unless I knew I was in for a genuinely interesting City highlights package I often couldn't be bothered to stay up for it. Having to sit through Stoke and Bolton battling out a 0-0 draw for ten minutes? Think I'll pass thanks.

I hope MOTD stays on BBC though, I remember ITV's Premiership from a few years back and it was an absolute abortion.

Cant really say this bothers me too much as I watch the goals in the Championship on SSN. Don't think I've ever made it to the end of FLS without falling asleep.

Obviously I can see people's dissapointment and anger though if they haven't got Sky.
