Fernandes Gone

Okay. Thank. You. I never saw those articles.

Quite a few people don't seem to have, which if why I sound like a parrot repeating myself over and over in this thread.

Even if he wanted to leave (he couldn't until January and we'd struggle to hold on to many if Udinese came calling) I still think he'd have given his all if played.

Not playing, and seeing underperformers still play, would get on anyone's nerves and hasten the want to depart.

He may well have given his all, but giving up a place for him rather than players you own would seem a silly move to me squad moral wise.

Nobody knows what has really gone on, but there is enough information out there that should mean at the very least Pearson is given the benefit of the doubt in regards to Gelson.

You (and you are not alone) seem hell bent on this being more of an issue than it actually is. Nobody thinks Wellens and King have been performing particularly well, but in Gelsons case, he's not been driven out, he's not shown any dissent etc at not playing, he simply came here to play for Sven and Sven only, When Sven left, Gelson showed a desire to leave in an article that we have now all seen.

Yes, we all think NPshould be shaking up the midfield, but if he were to be in the first team ahead of any of the other midfielders, there would be scores of posts saying it was a disgrace that he was playing when he's just gonna be off in January.

The squad is being trimmed accordingly. We all recognise that we had too many central midfielders. Johnson will be next to go no doubt due to the Sven factor and then that leaves King, Wellens, Abe, Danns, Oakley and Moussa. I think its safe to say that Oakley and Moussa wont be here for too much longer so that leaves the 4 which is probably just about the right number, especially as Danns and Abe seem to be more adabtable than Wellens and King.

He will get the benefit of the doubt from me if Wellens is dropped today. If he's still in the team then it's obvious that NP will play his mates whatever their form and that will never motivate good players to join us.

Maybe I am, because I think he would offer more than the other midfielders.

He probably did come here for Sven, but as I said before, I think he would've given his all, even if it was to attract the attention of other clubs.

Anyway, he's gone, and I hope that the midfield is shaken up, starting tomorrow.

It won't be until NP gets the replacements come the January window, Wellens will start inevitably hopefully he won't feature ever again likewise Dyer, Howard etc but I am not holding much hope for that happening any time soon.

Depends on how much cash he get's, who is available and what position is a priority.

I'd say a winger or two first and maybe a forward and then look at midfield and finally defence if there is money left.

I would say a playmaker should be priority get Koren to replace Wellens, two wingers and a target man then we will be a much better proposition as a team.

Well, it would be nice if we can replace him but if we can't then two quality winger's will give us a great outlet so we will not have to rely on the midfield two as much as we currently do.

It would allow Wellens to sit on his backside in front of defence or Abe if he can improve his passing while allowing King or Danns to run forwards in support of the attack.

It is not impossible to, King or Danns / Abe partnership could work

Danns passing is woeful and he is similar to king in being an attacking midfield player who support's the attack, King is as much out of form as the ageing Wellens and Abe is not a playmaker.

They never could be a permanent solution to Wellens, Johnson would have been nice but he never has been that fit with us and was nothing but a gamble by Sven that failed.

We need a quality playmaker, a midfield general as they used to be called but are there any around that we can get during January :xmasunsure:

if not then i'd go with two winger's and a goal poacher added to the squad

Don't forget it was believed that Fernandes didn't take to Svens sacking kindly at all, If that is the case and he only came here for sven, would there be any point keeping him here unhappy?

Well the two things aren't linked. Fernandes going has nothing to do with Wellens.

Other reasons for not playing the others instead could be that he quite simply doesn't fancy them. Fernandes wanted out, rumours that Johnson wanted the same (although nothing decent to back that up like there is with Fernandes). Abe played instead of King which leaves Danns, and lets face it when he has played he's hardly set the world alight.

Yeah he might have been Palaces player of the year and played well at our ground. But how many fans opposition fans probably hold the same thoughts about Wellens (our player of the year)?

For all you know he's tried combinations in training and not seen anything to convince him the others are going to be any better. That doesn't mean Wellens is his mate and he'll never drop him. If Pearson has the money to replace all the players in our team with better, then Wellens will be out of the window. Don't listen to the rubbish about Wellens being some kind of godfather figure ruling the roost... none of it can be backed up.

Yes listen to Babs...it's not Wellens who's the godfather....it's Big Steve

I find this, (and not for the first time), to be really disappointing news

But he joins a line of excellent 'loan' players that the Club have for whatever reason, either cast aside or failed to secure as permanent signings - Mark Davies, Tom Cleverley, Ben Mee and Kyle Naughton spring particularly to mind.

DERR :( MARK DAVIES = recalled by Wolves because they wanted to sell him and we didn't have the money, TOM CLEVERLY = Man u didn't want to sell him (playing for their 1st team now). BEN MEE = didn't want to sign permanately for us. KYLE NAUGHTON = want to play in the premiership.

Do you know what infuriates me? Moronic fans jumping to conclusions.

This is the same Fernandes that was regularly overlooked by Sven in favour of old Pearson signings. The same Fernandes that has been as inconsistent as the rest of our midfield. And the same Fernandes that said he regretted joining leicester and hoped to follow Sven out of the club only days after Pearson joined. Have people completely forgotten that article?

He said he wanted to leave, and people wonder why he has been overlooked? And use this absence as another reason to slag off the manager and Wellens. Amazing.

The only person to blame for him not getting a chance, is him for not performing and him for throwing his toys out when Sven left. Not Pearson and not Wellens.

This!

Ok Wellens is not good enough but neither is Fernandes so it's not like we have lost the jewel in the crown. In fact if he had been any good he would have stayed till the end of the season and been snapped up by a prem club. Fact is he is going back to the standard of football he is used to and good riddance.
