adamrwood Posted 7 December 2012 Author Posted 7 December 2012 Anyone in favour of the Waggy/Nuge partnership now that weren't before?? Sorry to bring up an old thread, but wanted to say I told you so haha!
Lambert09 Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 So many thickle fans, but in honestly I would say a very big chunk of our fans stuck behind waggy. Considering his form was very bad for quite a while its understandable people didnt believe he could get back to this level. The thing that annoyed me is that people wrote off his career when the lad is only 22. Fair play for publicly sticking by the lad though as so many on here will rip you apart for supporting any player that hasnt been on good form in the last month!

Bugg Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 I admit that I lost faith in Waghorn, I couldn't see him improving at all. This season though he looks a completely different player, an improvement on the team even more than the promotion season and to be honest I'm glad because I loved him 3 seasons ago, glad to see he's an even better version of his old self.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 Mr Al Snrub is spot on!!! Can't control, wayward shooting, gets pushed off the ball too easily and the positional sense of a blind donkey. Why oh why do people persist with the " waghorn is our saviour " rubbish! I'm surprised someone hasn't got a tv channel in the USA dedicated to his amazing powers!!!! The only reason people like waghorn is they have a song they like about him. Brilliant! willy puller
Guest Col city fan Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 willy puller It's his opinion. Like yours regarding fans who don't sing..

Looks a bit silly now though doesn't he?I've always considered that half the posters on here know nothing about football or critise yet don't even go to the games. Easy to say with hindsight i know, but...

Easy to say with hindsight i know, but... I do agree Stu. I'm never sure how many people on here actually watch the games. Fair play to you in that respect, you do seem to get to most? Regarding Waggy... I remain a little torn... He's on fire currently, you can see it in him.. He's pumped up. Whether he's a good enough finisher to get the team promoted this term, I'm not yet sure? I hope so and keep my fingers crossed for the lad. Regarding his partnership with Nugent... It's looking so much better than the Beckford/Nugent nonsense last season.
Happy Fox Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 Every player at this level has limitations Waghorn's is that he isn't a prolific goalscorer he himself has admitted that in interviews what we need in January is a goalscorer perhaps someone with experience like Reading and Southampton have done before in January to see them finish in the top 2 come the end of the season.

It's looking so much better than the Beckford/Nugent nonsense last season. He was a more than good enough a finisher in the playoff season so he does have the ability. but his overall contribution has improved dramatically this season possibly foresaking goals in the process. Ill be laughed at for this, but rooney gets wanked over for doing similar at man u, though i think he brings less to the table than waggy does for us, albeit rooney is playing at obviously a higher standard. Waggy isnt used as our main goal threat though like rooney was before rvp. Not sure if me getting to most games comment was a sly dig or whatever, but whilst i have a seasob ticket i can count on one hand the away games ive been to, including Torquay in the cup. But i dont comment nor criticise about games I've not attended
Charl91 Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 It's too early to say "I told you so". He still only has 2 goals! He could be awful for the rest of the season for all you know. Infact, because you bumped this thread, I'd say it's now inevitable that he will be shit next game.

It's another reason why that stupid phrase 'form is temporary, class is permanent' is a load of shit. People will say that about Waggy because he was in good form for us for a while. Truth is he's been average or below for 75% of his time here (regardless of how many starts he's been given or whatever). While I'll always support him I just don't think he is capable of being the sort of reliable striker that Nugent has seemingly become.
Mark_w Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 As long as Waghorn doesn't take ANY set pieces I'm all for giving him a go at the moment.

One fantastic season and two onths pf this season. But how much of his bad period has he played , if at all, in his proper ppsition when hes not been out injured or on loan. Dyer was also an outcast when Pearson wasnt here and he too qas poor. Currently in the form of his life' Its bull that players can go for games without playing then when given 20mins are expected,to hit the heigjts of their game. Not even world class players are able to do that. Less so with fans like some of ours, quick to boo and slate a player at the drop of a hat. Little wonder his confidence was shot
Fox92 Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 Why do we have to bring threads up from a year ago? Some people can be wrong sometimes. I doubt every poster on this forum has predicted everything correct before.
Captain... Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 Why do we have to bring threads up from a year ago? Some people can be wrong sometimes. I doubt every poster on this forum has predicted everything correct before. But there is a difference between predicting we will win, or writing off a player based on an injury hit season, last season where he made 1 start for us and a complete mess of a season where we started badly under Paulo and then he barely played under Sven, and not as a striker when he did. The worst is that people having made such ridiculous statements then seem to be willing him to fail to prove themselves right. Hopefully by having the folly of their ways pointed out 'fans' will be a little slower to pull the trigger on a player's career.
Lambert09 Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 As in they change their minds on players on a game by game basis
