Clueless

This all seems like an over-reaction to what was a sh*te interview. Stringer asked a daft question. I'm not sure how he expected the manager to answer. Did he expect Pearson to criticise the players in public?

I would love to see an interviewer ask and phrase the question in the same way to Alex Ferguson.

Well Pearson did when he used the phrase 'dead wood'.

Can't deny fact.

We have to make sure we get rid of the deadwood before the rot sets in though.

For the record i like Nige, I want him here as our long term manager, but he needs to remember that when he is interviewed on Radio Leicester, he is speaking direct to fans like us. Stringer is merely asking the questions. Stringer wouldn't have been doing his job if he hadn't asked questions about SSL and the poor standard of recent performances.

Perhaps if Nige went into these interviews and visualised speaking direct to us he'd sound less defensive. 52,000 fans watched those two games over the last few days. Many of us feel deeply frustrated by what we saw, and concerned that we're not playing as a team. As the manager, the buck stops with Nige, and it's part of his job to connect with the fan throught the media. It's not too much to ask when you're on a million quid a year, allegedly.

Listening to this reminded me of the scene below in "Goodfellas"

I love how the sudden change in atmosphere alters both Stringers' (though fear - "frans") and Pearson's (through anger - "intimidating") words.

Fair play to Stringer though there's no point pussy footing around the fact that we did look clueless, however Pearson has inherited a squad that he didn't put together so he can't be really held accountable when I feel a lot of the blame should lie with the players.

Also who do you think he is talking about when he refers to people who "want to play for the club"? For me the people who don't look like they do want to play for us are Mills, Wellens, King, Danns, St Ledger and I'm still unsure about Beckford. Thoughts?

Interesting to hear you mention Mills in that group of players, but come to mention it I agree... On the subject of Stringer, I'm sure he turns at least as many people off radio Leics as he attracts! Reaching his shelf life along with that div Alan Young imo

A perfectly reasonable question in my opinion. The fact is that "clueless" is the perception many fans have of our team at the moment, and it's perfectly in order for I.S. to mention it to the manager. It's a little worrying that NP was so sensitive / defensive, but it's also reassuring to know that he feels the same pain as us.

NP is very self assured and somewhat intolerant of dissenting views. I would love to be a fly on the wall the first time that NP and the vice chairman fall out.

When stringer first used the word " clueless" he did not make it clear if he was referring to the players or Nigel. Not surprising then that Nigel asked him to elaborate on his comment and when he said the fans were referring to the players he got an answer. As a so called professional BBC interviewer it strikes me that it is Stringer who is clueless. Never the less Pearson did not make excuses and made it clear that he knows who the guilty players are ( dead wood ) and will be replacing them. I don't know what more he could have said ?

There is no way is he going to blame the current state of affairs on the shambles that Erickson left him with, especially in public on the radio and to a amateur interviewer like Stringer. So Pearson is no media darling but neither is Alex Ferguson and it hasn't done him any harm has it.

dont blame the players, (we know they are crap and clueless). blame the manager who picks them week in week out.

what worries me most of all is why when we have the likes of tunch johnson fernandes pantsil, he still thinks wellens king dyer and gally are the best midfield set up. as far as SSL is concerned, any one remember the last big fallout..cost us promotion

Panstil has Malaria and is a right back

jimmy...and tunch is a centre half, and dont we need a centre half right now and for all the pro pearson fans, if NP actually admits he has alot of dead wood, then why is he constantly playing them when we have one of the biggest squards in the championship

I still cant see what Stringer did wrong, seems like a perfectly legitimate question to me.

Shall we just have our journalists ask easy to answer ''yes man'' type questions to appease management and paper over the cracks?

I rate Pearson highly as a manager no question, but his media personality is terrible

Could it be the dead wood he referred too are the ones who don't want to play for him or the club? leaving him with little choice in midfield.

Or the deadwood are the current first teamers i.e Wellens, Dyer, King etc

I'd take it to mean those who are negative influence

SSL obviously... and maybe others who aren't getting the action they thought they would when they joined

Ball, Fats Johnson & others, not even sure if Pantsil is at the club with his illness, but I'm pretty sure he's looked crap (getting put on his arse more times than not) for us & hasn't been able to dislodge the up & coming lg1 Peltier must really piss him off
