Just because you don't have the armband doesn't mean you can't be a leader or you can't encourage and help your team mates, which are things people think a captain should do. Under O'Neill we had the likes of Walsh, Elliott, Taggert and Lennon. Only one of them could wear the armband but they were all captains and leaders on the field. Personally I think the armband means very little. You just need leaders, which I'm not sure we have.
