Not this Darlington fan. Read his plea to his other fans going to Barrow and you'll have a lump in your throat.
Jagdinho Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 That fairly emotional. I feel for em! Hope they pull it through and still survive!
MikeyT Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 What a brilliant and emotional post. Best of luck to their club and hope they survive! Also just saw this on their site: Statement on behalf of Joint Adminstrator Harvey Madden of Taylor Rowlands: "I was appointed as Joint Administrator of Darlington Football Club (2009) Limited, together with my co-Administrator, Peter Gray, earlier today by the directors of the Club. "I am currently exploring all options to try and find a way to enable the Football Club to remain in existence but the position of the Club is such that without any financial support from outside the Club or anyone willing to acquire the Club I will, unfortunately, have little alternative but to cease to trade in a very short time. "Anyone interested in assisting the Club or acquiring the Club out of administration should therefore contact my office on 01642 790790 as a matter of urgency. "Every day is critical if the Club is to survivive. I've just left them a post on that thread too. All the best to the club. Must be horrible for them.
Marmite Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 I hope Darlington survive I really do Sad day when any club looks like it will fold
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 Surely it would be better for them to fold and then re set up a new club as Darlington. They would probably get special dispensation to join at quite a high league (like AFC Wimbledon or FC United) and be able to start again without the financial headache that they have at the moment. Never nice to see a club go under but as far as I can see they do not have a lot to lose.
Mack Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 Self inflicted injuries once again. Take note and pray that our owners are not leading us down a shit or bust path.
Haydos Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 350 odd guests reading that thread right now Good luck to them!
AyewJoking Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 Will make me think twice before moaning about Leicester again.
21st Century Fox Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 My mum's from Darlo and my uncle's a season ticket holder so I've always had a soft spot for them. Bad times indeed, really hope they come out the other end ok.

foxfanazer Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 Quality post! Gets u thinking about how much u love leicester! And makes u realise that things could be a lot worse!
lcfcadam Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 Saw them get a last minute winner against Mansfield at Wembley in May whilst I was cheering on the Stags (don't ask). Was pretty damn pissed off when they scored it but had I known their club might be going down the pan a few months later I guess I wouldn't have begrudged them something memorable to remember their final year by...
leicesterseddon Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Very sad what's happened there, although they aren't the only ones in dire straights down in the lower leagues. Have to say, they are probably victims of their own ambition, particularly with regard to the new ground. Same thing will happen at Kettering soon. And I have to say, it will probably be the fault of those who initially insisted they could sustainably operate as a full-time professional club. Just not viable really.
Mission Unlikely Promotion Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Best of Luck to Darlington, i hope they survive
DB11 Posted 8 January 2012 Posted 8 January 2012 Not as good as the Grimsby Town fans post. I think it was Grimsby. Now that was quality!
Happy Fox Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Not looking good for Darlo the administrator has sacked all the players and the coaching staff the club still remains for the time being
leicesterisme Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Not looking good for Darlo the administrator has sacked all the players and the coaching staff the club still remains for the time being Looks like they probably won't last this week then.
Guest Bilo Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 What WERE they thinking with that stadium? They had a chairman with *ahem* delusions of grandeur who thought that the old adage 'build it and they will come' would apply to a fourth tier club surrounded by three well supported Premiership clubs. Somehow he thought building a stadium with a capacity 10 times your average gate will get you into the Premiership. This had absolutely nothing to do with the money laundering charges he went down for a few months after the place opened of course. The place holds 25,000 and their record attendance there is less than 12,000, with average attendances now down to about a tenth of that. And to think people complained about Milan.
lcfcadam Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 What WERE they thinking with that stadium? Just have a read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Reynolds_(business) Seems really wrong that a known criminal was ever able to buy a football club. Suppose that's what all this "fit and proper person" stuff relates to nowadays...
Guest shearfox Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 What WERE they thinking with that stadium? It certainly wasn't a smart move, an example of a very poorly run club. I believe when it was built their owners got into a lot of trouble, is there any need for a 25,000 seater when you are struggling to get just 10% of that.
Guest Bilo Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 This picture during a match shows the extent of the problem. I'm not sure what an AFC Darlington, Darlington Town or whatever the inevitable phoenix club calls itself will do regarding the stadium. I would imagine returning to this place would put them on a hiding to nothing if I'm honest. Moving back to Feethams is almost certainly not an option, though I imagine most Darlington fans would love to. It's a tough one and I feel for them.

I bet the KP looks something like that at times before a match when the players are warming up.
